looking forward to some of the comments - berean, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3They can comment all they want, but this site has hard data on it to make its point.
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I'd rather use OS X than WinXP, but I'd much rather pay for a PC than a Mac. Let the battle of the fanboys begin.
- sonofalink, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2For a less biased (note I didn't say nonbiased) and less retarded comparison, try a site like http://www.xvsxp.com/ I mean come on, he says "Windows 2000 is more stable than OS X" with absolutely no data to back it up. Not dugg. Not because its anti-mac, but because its dumb as hell.

NO VIRUSES. NOT ONE. PERIOD.- BulleTriger, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3EERRR WRONG!!!!! Turns out they discovered a irus for the MAC already, so MAC isnt 100% immune to viruses. Look it up on the net
- berean, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Problem is, it isn't just the OS. It's the entire system. He does have data to back things up, just doesn't provide it for every statement. He links to performance tests and outside articles for proof.
- digitalunit, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I'm completely behind my PC 100%, And Apple does blow ass, But I must say: I've used OS 10.4 many times and this is very misleading. He says that most programs don't use a GUI? You have to open Terminal to open your programs? An apple friend of mine has had his mac for 4 years and just found out what Terminal was last week.... This is lame. We don't need to make ***** up to make Apple look bad. Just look at this.. 4.5% of the world uses a Mac.. Apple isn't anything more than a glorified PC anymore with the new x86 Macintels coming.. A PC with Mac OS on it.. USELESS!!!!
No digg. - lance_a_w, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Um, most of these performance tests he's linking to are from 2002.
- cjsan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2The only reason I will never get a Mac is the games. As far viruses go, anyone that can't get basic antivirus software deserves to get viruses.
- 662662, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3A terminal??? Where the heck has this guy been.. The mac terminal is not often used; it is actually less used than "msconfig" you know the thing people use to remove spyware... Wish I had a mac!
- regedit2D, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4personally I use antispyware software more than msconfig for that
- digitalunit, on 10/24/2007, -2/+3I haven't had an Antivirus program in 2 or 3 years.. I'm running fine, and always will be: The simple rule to not getting viruses, spyware, etc: Don't be a dumbass, and stay away from downloading porn. View all the porn you want on firefox! don't download it.. Downloading BAD!!! And you'll be virus free just like me.

- Jerryskid02, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If Mac's had all the games that PC's do...this whole damn "war" wouldn't even have started however long ago. BOTH are good. Each have their weaknesses, each have their strengths. It comes down to personal preference. Let the whole "Mac s. PC" thing go people.
- jakedahn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2dude this is the worst site on the net. If you want to put info on the net, make sure it isnt bias. I agree with cjsan "people who cant get basic antivirus software deserve to get a virus" but why bother when you dont need it. and for those who think that macs are worthless peices of crap you probabally havent used one since the early 90's. heh not dugg all hail mac mini!
- alphamatrix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Well, I'm a mac user, and I'm very happy with my machines. They work very well. I didn't read the article, nor did I digg this stupid submission. I don't see why a happy windows user cares what other people think about a platform he/she doesn't even use.
- BulleTriger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1becuase now theres facts that they suck, i was thinkin of getting one, then i found out it DOES CRASH, and wen it does it does it VERY HARD, so yea. MACs suc period, and a virus has been discovered for the MAC, research it
- manfesto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Let's just report and move on - I'm with jerryskids, anything that has to be said has already been said in the whole "Mac vs. PC" flame war (and for that matter, the Intel vs AMD war) - and most of it has been much more eloquently put than this crappy website.
- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I DIGG THIS.
- berean, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1For all you insisting this is part of a "war," it isn't. It's simply pointing out that Mac is flawed, just as Windows is. You keep insisting that Macs are SO amazing, and yet when an article comes along that disagrees, you say it's part of a war and report it. How lame. Must be nice to censor the articles you don't agree with.
- doofus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1If Macs did not exist, then what would we make fun of?
- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Now all we have to do is someing like Linux Sux because I AM TIRED OF THE FU[KIN FAN BOYS RAVEING ABOUT HOW GOOD LINUX IS. WHATS SO GOOD ABOUT LINUX? NOTHING.
- webscoper, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Let me guess... Berean is the editor this mac-sucks website? He seems to defend it so consistently, without letting it gain any fault and praising it like the holy bible. This is just plain hilarious though.
The site says it is objective. Ok... Then it goes on to say that mac os x only runs through terminal and it lacks a GUI.
Proof (something that this site lacks although berean claims otherwise):
"Apple has always had userfriendliness as a high priority with their previous operating systems. With OS X this changed. By basing it on a UNIX-system Apple lost all of their simplicity. Not that OS 9 was great in anyway but atleast you didn't have to mess around with a text based terminal to get things working.
In fact many applications available don't come with a graphical user interface, so if you want them to work, you better start making friends with the terminal."
For the mac users on digg, I'm curious, but how many people actually use terminal? I've launched it twice in the 4 years I've been using OS X and those were only because I was wanted to hack a system setting in OS X.
If that wasn't funny enough, I read the feedback page. This "editor" seems so insecure that he won't let people post their own opinions unless they agree with him. One guy posted that he should grow up and do something more constructive with his life (I agree!) and the editor replied with an insult. Is that really necessary?
Proof:
"this is just sad. Get a hobby and get laid. Try and do something constructive in future.
Editor's reply: You mean like sending in juvenile comments to a website?"
Also, even funnier, is that those who did defend Windows seemed to misspell most of their words.
There are plenty of other hilarious points in this site that you will find if you can step back and look at this from an actual objective stand-point. For those of you who know me, I am a strong supporter of Apple. When I first started reading this, I got angry at all the stupid BS I saw on the first few pages. After I got to the User-Friendliness page (http://www.mac-sucks.com/facts_userfriendly.php), I just kept laughing every time I looked at it.
This is retarded, and therefore, hilarious. However, it does not have an ounce of truth on it (except for when it says Apple has good designers and that the PC world soon caught on and started copying their designs). You cannot make web sites that persuade people to buy one OS over another, unless the person being persuaded is an idiot (in which case they don't deserve to use a computer at all). Buying a certain OS is all based on personal preference. Personally, I find that OS X has absolutely everything I could want, including games for those of you who still seem to hold on to the false belief that there aren't any games for macs. The only type of programs that I found that Windows has more of than Macs is viruses/malware/spyware. However, some Windows users are smart and know how to protect themselves from these trojans, so that is no longer an issue.
- Webscoper (http://www.webscope.tv)- BulleTriger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Wellllll, lets see
-MAcs DO CRASH, when they do they do it VERY HARD
-MACs soon wont be 100% virus proof theres been a virus discovered for the MAC and im sure there will be more to come.
-If "it just works" why is there a section on the MAC site called MAC fix it????
-about the editors "insult" that wasn't one, however the guy who took the time to tell the editor to get laid and stuff should be doing something more productive.
-And as for the windows user mispelling thier words, dnt u hve sumtin btr to mke fun of us by? guess cuz ur MAC usr ur supose to insult ppl liek tht hu?
- BulleTriger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Wellllll, lets see
- webscoper, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Aww, it truncated my response. At the end, it should say that Webscope.tv is a much more constructive use of time. :-P
Wow, I just realized how much I wrote. I really need to get back to work now... - manfesto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1berean-
Dude, I report any article that is just blatent propaganda or just plain lame. There are plenty of anti-Mac sites and stories that have hit the home page that actually had current facts to back them up, opinions stated in a civil manner, and a relatively objective slant. I may leave a comment with my $0.02, but I don't report it. I mean, hell, the "This Mac user is thinking of switching back" blog entry had more substance than this page.
Not to mention your caption is more than enough to warrant being reported for just begging to start a flame war. You know as well as I do your intent wasn't to simply point out a Mac's flaws. If you want to get a story to the main page, try being civil instead of relying on people getting fired up and digging.
And as a consistent Mac and PC user (and yes, I actually do use both daily for roughly equal times), I can honestly say I'm sick and tired of this flame war because picking a side is pointless. I'm rather comfortable with both, and I'm sure a good number of people are too. I'm not a fanboy or an anti-fanboy because I think both tend to be douchebags, and I don't think computers other people use are something you should get offended by. - MacTechSteve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I know my Mac will never "catch" a Windows virus.
- BulleTriger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1viruses will come, one has already been discovered for the MAc, im sure there well be more to come.
- MrAldo, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1No duh *****... The only reason why Mac has little Viruses is because no one cares about that crappy OS, it won't have any impact on like what? 1k users? Ha!
- matthendrix, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3"NO VIRUSES. NOT ONE. PERIOD"
uh DUH! Mac users are SO STUPID!!!! - icepenguin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This site was obviously created to spread untruths. Not only that, but the "information" is outdated, as well. No digg, reported as lame.
- firebll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've seen several arguments about Mac users not getting viruses. Let me ask you this...if you were the kind of person to sit down and write a virus (something you want to spread and infect as many computers as possible) would you write it for the 95% user base or the 5% user base?
Mac users aren't getting viruses because nobody takes the time to write one. Your computer isn't more secure, its less popular.- BenKaras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0But doesn't that make it more secure?
- BulleTriger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0no it just means no one cares about MAC
- MrAldo, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1Agreed with BulleTriger, it just means no one gives a crap.
- BulleTriger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I agree
- BenKaras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0But doesn't that make it more secure?
- FireJin3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It surprises me that most people on here actually don't know that Macs have viruses, not a lot, but they are there and the numbers are rising. As far as I can remember there are 14 viruses for macs, and some major corporate security organizations actually declared Macs a security risk because of the blatant unawareness and ignorance that is shown towards Mac viruses. I'm not sighting any soruces because I'm frankly too lazy and don't feel like writing a term paper. On this years Black Hat conference, an industry wide computer hacking/security meeting, MacBook Pro was actually hacked with a windows system through a wireless card, gaining superuser access, meaning absolute access to do essentially anything, with a little trickery they could have even made the power button non-functional, which would be the ultimate horror for any computer user, not being able to turn off your computer. Even though the BlackHat hackers are not your average hacker, there not anything special either, hackers of their level walk the streets everywhere. In all fairness Vista was also hacked, although a new feature in Vista called UAC was ignored, which would have effectively stopped the hack. The way I see it Apple is in a sort of denial. Even during their latest WWDC06 conference, they didn't even focus that much on the security of their system, which according to current trends is becoming less and less secure. You could even say that Microsoft's Vista is more secure at this point because of its new security system, in which every user essentially operates as a sort of "guest" instead of administrative, making it almost as secure as some linux system, with other features too which are not that bad either. Microsoft also has its LiveOneCare, a all-in-one package of windows security, which is acutally being praised and which sales are actually rising quite well. With a little bit of awareness and understanding of what one does on the internet, you end up with a very secure system. Two weeks ago, Apple developed a patch that identified and fixed 26 hijack and security errors in its system, 6 of which were labeled critical.
Another point that confuses me is Microsoft's supposed lack of innovation. I mean yes, money isn't everything, but when your throwing $5,000,000,000 a year on research, you could have eighth graders writing your system and it would end up pretty good. The reality is that microsoft acutally developes soo much innovative technology, I don't think you could even mention it all. They have a whole annual conference, the TechFest, actually dedicated to just all of their innovations that they developed. Some include a technology called Photosynth, which takes a library of images, either internet or local based, and analyzes specific features within the pictures and establishes relationships between them, which it then uses to essentially fuse the images together to form an immersive 3d environment of the area formed by those pictures. It's like going to let's say Paris, taking pictures, putting them on your laptop, and then clicking Go, while Photosynth recreates the Eifel Tower in a three-dimensional environment, using your pictures. They also developed a wallpaper/desktop technology that actually takes a short movie clip and analyzes the frames to form a continuous loop of the movie, and then setting it as your background in your desktop, so instead of having just the picture of a beach as your background, you can actually have the palms shake and see the waves hit the beach, all in real-time. This is not even close to the cosmic array of technology developed by Microsoft on almost a weekly basis. If anyone cares, you can actually look up most of this stuff if you google Channel 9 or MIX06. And the best thing is, Microsoft is acutally pretty far from being done, anything you've seen soo far, is not what you will see on the bookshelfs.
- l0rdn1k0n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2hey firejin3, you do realize that that "hack" that the windows hackers used was declared false because they were using a THIRD PARTY CARD WITH THIRD PARTY DRIVERS. YOU CANNOT HACK A MAC WITHOUT THE USER PASSWORD, IP, AND SSH TURNED ON. THAT HACK WOULD HAVE ALSO WORKED ON LINUX AND WINDOZE.
ALSO, THE "POWER BUTTON" ***** HAS BEEN DONE ON PCS A LOT MORE. YOU JUST NEED TO REINSTALL THE OS (WHICH IS ABOUT 1/10 AS LONG TIMEWAYS AS WINDOWS, BECAUSE THERE AREN'T 4000 DRIVERS TO DOWNLOAD)
AS FOR VIRUSES, YOU ARE CONFUSING THOSE WITH TROJAN HORSES. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. A VIRUS DOES NOT GIVE ANY SIGN IT HAS BEEN INSTALLED, SNEAKS UP AND STARTS ADDING IT'S CODE TO DIFFERENT FILES. MACS HAVE TROJAN HORSES. ALL COMPUTERS HAVE TROJAN HORSES. A TROJAN HORSE IS A PROGRAM THAT REQUIRES YOU TO RUN IT - NOT ONLY THAT, BUT FOR MACS YOU NEED TO ENTER THE PASSWORD TO AFFECT SYSTEM FILES. IT COULD NOT EVER DELETE SYSTEM FILES W/O THE USER'S PASSWORD. PERIOD.
YOU ARE ALL WRONG. APPLE IS THE BEST. WINDOWS SUCKS, AND LINUX IS UNSUPPORTED WITH WIRELESS W/O A DEGREE IN COMP SCI.- BulleTriger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1*****
- CCmachined, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1except my wireless works 100% out the box with Ubuntu, as does everything else I own. All you need to do is CHECK COMPATIBILITY before buying hardware. tried that on a fresh windoze install? actually, you'd have no sound, no graphic drivers, 800x600 res, no wireless. ***** you and ***** your FUD.
- l0rdn1k0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ps, firejin sucks bill gates' *****.
- MusicalGenius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, this is really simple. Besides the fact that having a mac is almost useless and we all know that mac users are so bias that they can never admit fault in a mac. They think it is so perfect. There is one better argument.
Bill gates can be shown as a monster, or hero...either way the man isn't perfect. I'm sure he has even done things with Microsoft that he regrets. But how many people regret previous decisions. Point being, he does do a lot of good. Anyone who can't recognize that he is trying to do some good in the world is either a bias person or an idiot.
So don't give me that Microsoft is evil bull...
The biggest thing I've been meaning to mention is this. How on this Earth could Microsoft have been in a lawsuit for even remotely been like a monopoly when Macintosh is almost in every way a full and complete monopoly.
MAC IS A MORAL PROBLEM... How can you make fun of Microsoft? How can so many people say the words trapped or refer to PC users as submissive to the big company. HOW!? can anyone claim anything against a PC when MAC means you are complete MAC. Yes, I will be the first to admit they are SLOWWWLY getting better. They are still such a monopolizing company that tries to act young. They may take over a good percentage of the market but they are so corrupt it's disturbing. A Mac lover is a fool. I can at least choose to go buy a different sound card for my composing rather than doing it macs way. And yes I know everything there is to know about writing music with a PC and a Mac. No I mean real music not just putting a few loops together and saying I wrote it. I mean REAL composing and I can easily say Mac is in NO WAY better. PC's I can at least choose from different sound cards and have a little variety. - jadejaws, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Real live reasons why Macs/OS X suck:
-Closed Hardware Platform- Sorry....no disputing that it sucks big time that there is absolutely no competition for Mac Hardware. It is Steve Jobs way or the Highway. I honestly have no idea why Apple insists on closing their hardware since it would open up a tremendously large market for them, but its Apple....its been their way or the highway for years. Sure, the Mac clones did suck horribly back some time ago....but the OS truly, truly sucked then and there was no real competitors making Mac clones then. Umax? PowerComputing? Please....they were horrible.
Open your hardware just like a PC and see how many actually use your OS. It will grow by leaps and bounds.
-Insistence that all users are stupid- Why is there absolutely no built in functionality enable the viewing of all folders that exist on the hard disk in the GUI? Why is it required for me to go to terminal (or use some 3rd party app) to delete cache files in hidden directories that continually screw up? I could do it a whole lot quicker if I didnt have to go to terminal every single time.
-Arrogance - What is with the continual insistence to not just go ahead and release a 2 button mouse on both the laptops and desktop? Not the "mighty mouse" that pretends to have 2 buttons....a mouse with 2 buttons. Just admit that its a good idea and get on with it. Every single Mac I service I immediately connect a 2 button mouse to (cause support for it is there...you just have to buy the mouse from someone else). Its silly.
-Inferior Warranty- Sure....I can oust to spend the extra $200-$400 on the "AppleCare", but why do I have to spend it? I can buy a PC with a 3 year warranty out of the box. No worries about having to take my computer back to the Apple Store and pay $160.00 for its proprietary Power Supply to be replaced that is only available to Apple Certified Hardware Stores. (START SARCASTIC COMMENT) I mean....why would I want the flexibility of a next business day on-site warranty? That only makes good business sense. Make me pay a courier to take my broken Mac from my workplace (because you know...I have to actually do work and not haul the broken Mac to the closest certified Mac repair shop which is 45 minutes away) so that a repair on a PC that is out of warranty that would have costed $35.00 ends up costing me $250.00 for the courier, the part and the labor on my Mac that basically has the same parts but somehow weighs more than an anvil (END SARCASTIC COMMENT).
Theres more....but thats all for now.
Basically a LOT of Mac users are much like the people that are described above. They are smug users that insist that Macs are sent from God and there is absolutely no flaw with them whatsoever. This just isnt true. I am a System Support Specialist for every computer in a small business. Macs are no more/less reliable than PCs and share the same amount of problems. A Mac can make you beat your head against a wall just as much as a Windows machine. There can just as easily be a fundamental system or hardware failure in a Mac (and honestly...Macs have been using some inferior hardware vendors for the amount of money that you spend) than a PC.
They both have problems, but as long as the Mac arrogance continues.....they will never truely penetrate the corporate market. - BulleTriger, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1MACs suck period
They arent as great as u think, THEY DO CRASH, anyone up for sum youtube? search it - ACSMB, on 10/24/2007, -0/+1here's a comment for ya:

- Klak, on 10/24/2007, -1/+1this story will end up with negative diggs i bet
- xXDeaQueenXx, on 12/17/2007, -0/+0Well,if you are into graphics, you might be purchasing a Mac. But if you are a person who does a lot of work or games, you might be purchasing a PC. PCs are good for working and gaming whereas Macs are often used for graphics because that is just their specialty. As you can see, most business companies are using PCs. Macs And PCs has their own pros and cons. And you must think of what you want your computer to do. Graphics are for Macs, Works and games are for PCs.
