- dimehyp1, on 10/12/2007, -8/+61Nicely done. This prediction is more plausable then the one's I've seen talking about it two weeks away.
- aplardi, on 10/12/2007, -7/+58I agree whole heartedly. I'm a HUGE Apple fan (no really, I am a VERY large man take a look at me), but I really think it's ridiculous that articles making outrageous claims with NO foundation of fact get dugg to the top so often.
This article tries to analyze the facts with some genuine journalism, definately worth your time reading if you are at all interested in the new revision of OS X. - TechScribe, on 10/12/2007, -5/+50Digg down. No mention of relevant zodiac signs, moon phases, or planetary aspects to back up this speculation.
- inspecality, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24iLife also used to come out in January. Old release dates aren't definite.
- mackoid101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20March - http://digg.com/apple/Leopard_Set_For_March
April - http://digg.com/apple/Leopard_Coming_In_Late_April
May - http://digg.com/apple/Mac_OS_X_Leopard_10_5_a_May_2007_release
Thats why I'm sick or rumors. It will be out when it's out. - killerofkiller, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24mine too!
wait no that's just me trying to fit in - yottabite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I'll rename YOU anonymous.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19so... we've heard january, skipped february, heard march and april. now may.
somebody's got a dart and a calandar. - DPowers08, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Refreshing to see some thought go into this and proof for these claims using factual evidence.
- tony.pitale, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17Yes indeed, at least the managed to offer some justification instead of saying "a reliable source, who wishes to rename anonymous..."
- klawz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11YOU FOOL! RTFA!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Wonder if the box will present with traditional leopard spots, or a design more reminiscent of the newly discovered clouded leopard of Sumatra and Borneo. Funky-looking beast:

(three links in case one gets dugg-to-death) - Kyderdog, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Spring begins March 21 ends June 21st
My prediction is June 20th - CheapDigWannbe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11***** off mac rumors... I want truth or silence!
- heavensblade23, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13You obviously missed the iTunes 7 launch.
- FluxHarmonic, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13Yippe! That's my birthday!
*drinks another glass of Glenfiddich* - WaveRunningNakd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I honestly don't care when it comes out, but when it does, I'm dumping my PC and getting a Mac.
- threemagic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5No, he's not retarded but based on how you spelled it, we can assume who is. In software revisions it is acceptable to use a .10 for a rev after .9
- grep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm ready to order a MacBook Pro but just waiting for Apple to release Leopard and hopefully an update to iLife.
- Legolover64, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6These people didn't see the release of 10.4.9 being significant, which they really should have, as this is the release that comes less than a month (according to 10.4 and 10.3 releases) before the 10.5 revision.
I can't wait, personally, for a finally integrated multidesktop tool. VirtueDesktops, it's been great knowing you, time to move on... - deviouster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4digg isn't going to bring wikipedia down
- jasonpoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I suppose there should be a special event before the Leopard's release to show those "top secrets".
Maybe Steve will announce that they will take order right after the event (the Apple's tradition)
Anyway, I can't wait till May... - wastern, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@so1omon
I don't recall ever getting a 10.2.10 or a 10.3.10. Apple has traditionally spaced out their releases to allow for .1-.9 updates during the corse of each release. Why should 10.4 be any differnt - yabos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think he misses the point of WWDC. I bet most of the people going to WWDC already have Leopard experience because lots of them were probably at last year's WWDC where they all got a copy. They are most likely ADC Select or Premier members in which case they get access to the Leopard builds already so they have experience with Leopard prior to WWDC '07.
- so1omon, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8@ wastern
Um... no. What comes after 9? 10. These aren't decimal numbers we're talking about here. They're revision numbers. 10.4.10 is a perfectly acceptable revision number. - DOiDiggIt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I used a mac for the first time this week and have one thing to say: wow Windows SUCKS!!
- evelian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Uh, what? Their only release date for Leopard is Spring 2007. It's not even spring yet, and May falls well within that season.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9I'm as excited about Leopard as any other Mac user... and I love hearing about new and upcoming products... but these rumor stories are getting out of hand.
Maybe digg should block any Apple submission with a question mark in the headline. - babakshirazi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4He better have those secrets because there's nothing big in Leopard at all. Core animation and Time Machine. The rest of the "features" are pretty lame. Just minor tweaks.
- comedianX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Of course it has to at least be May -- any later and it isn't "Spring '07."
It's Summer. - slayerab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What about April 3rd or 6th? Thats Apples anniversary week.
- lukee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@wastern: There wasn't a 10.2.9 either, so why should 10.3 be any different? Oh wait...
- gregorypierce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@kelmon
Why not wait? The time for Leopard is measured in weeks - why rush just to pay more money. - zixxer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@babakshirazi
the ability to use Q's now is absolutely badass. imagine the stuff you could do, now instead of using threads to address programs you can just pop in in a q (which are basically a very good implementation of threads) and let os x do all the leg work. these now would be killer database boxes. you only mentioned the buzzword stuff. but under the hood there is ALOT of changes (too many to list + I'm lazy) - Alystair, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Reply to atezun:
Actually the Windows key is used for other items, it's not _quite_ useless
Win + E = Opens Explorer
Win + F = Opens a search window
Win + L = instantly locks the machine (very handy!)
Win + R = Run prompt
Win + S = OneNote Screen clipping feature
etc etc... - h0dg3s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Gay. Exactly why Digg is no longer a news site and has now gone to the 12 year old *****-heads.
- phonetik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh look, another OSX really soon now post.
I think it's time we start burying these ridiculous RDF apple posts.
I love my macbook, but this ***** just pisses me off. - creativename5, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10Mine TOO! this would be the most awesome birthday present ever!
- mr804, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ZFS?
- Kelmon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Zippo
In fairness I suspect that these stories are hitting the front page because there is almost no Apple news these days that can be reported as fact. Definitely a slow news period... - adc89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I still think WWDC is our best bet.
- bhess, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@wastern:
If you like to follow patterns, try this one:
Last version of Jaguar: 10.2.8
Last version of Panther: 10.3.9
Last version of Tiger: ?
That's not to say that I believe there is another major update coming to Tiger (I don't), but I would never rule it out based on ROFL APL DIDN"T RELEESE 10.3.10 DUMASS - pzarker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They aren't late, its still srping.
- superkendall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I just can't see Apple passing on the chance for the giant marketing combo blitz that would be the simultaneous release of iLife, iWork, iPhone, a variety of Pro apps, and Leopard all at the same time.
It would be like a supernova in your wallet destroying all currency within 100 yards. But it would be so powerful it would draw many people in who hadn't even ever heard of Apple. Apple's stock price would double. Lines to get in the Apple store would look like bread lines in the former soviet union. They would have to set up mobil Red Cross style relief stations just to be able to meet demand in key areas.
Not to mention I still can't see the connection between the last build of Leopard being a bit wobbly and an imminent release of the product. It woud seem rather the opposite would be true. Not to mention the power of releasing Leopard secrets during the dvelopers confernce. - adrenalinerush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As bad as I want Apple to release Leopard early, I would prefer they release it later in Spring and have it work great, than rush a release filled with bugs and problems....
- liquidsgi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No Dig. The way they came up with this date is a little nuts. I would say we would get a better idea by going outside and jumping up and down and asking the rain gods.
- Alystair, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm in the same boat as you! My current development environment is "adequate" but it could be so much better :)
- DelMonte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The command key (Apple key) in OS X is the equivalent of the ctrl key on Windows. Would you want the Start menu to activate each time you press ctrl?
If you want you can remap the ctrl-F2 function to another single key (not single modifier keys though). Just go into System Preferences ---- Keyboard & Mouse ---- Keyboard Shortcuts. - ilgaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For Old Timer Mac users, it will be out when 10.5.2 update ships. Don't tell me to explain on digg :)
- DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why do you need to access the Apple menu on a regular basis? I very rarely do.
