- TheKrillr, on 12/20/2007, -4/+34In other news, digg-users hate committing legal acts. Instead they opt for the illegal method of doing things, even when a legalized method is staring them in the face.

-Bender - veriix, on 12/20/2007, -5/+25The mac giving tree? Thats the most PC I've heard in a while...ironic
- hadak, on 12/20/2007, -23/+40In other news, www.thepiratebay.org
- ryanyogan, on 12/20/2007, -4/+20they are giving things away for free ... if that is what spam is then I am turning off my spam filters ... moron
- krekc, on 12/20/2007, -0/+13Ill take wiretap pro for free. Thats a great program.
- dteresh, on 12/20/2007, -1/+12It's a MacHeist hosted website, if you look at the bottom of the page.
- Steinr, on 12/20/2007, -0/+11I have heared a lot of negative stuff about mac heist this year as well as last year. However it is great fun for those who like it and if you don't nobody is forcing you to buy or indeed use any of the apps.
I totally enjoy doing the heist and have gone to purchase more software. I now use 1password since last year and it is a great timesaver.
It is everybody's own decision and what the guys are doing on the heists and design-wise is phenomenal and extremely clever.
KUDOS - tapo, on 12/20/2007, -1/+12It was free to begin with, then Ambrosia started to charge for it.
I guess they've realized nobody wants to buy it, and giving it away = free publicity. - MacParrot, on 12/20/2007, -5/+14I appreciate the offer of free software, but I'm still leery of MacHeist after all the Malcor nonsense. Gonna take a bit more than this before I'd be willing to give them my email address or refer anyone else to them.
- jonshipman, on 12/20/2007, -0/+9or at the url
- rationalist, on 12/20/2007, -3/+11Hey, Mr. Illiterate, spell check was invented so that folks like you can hide their ignorance.
- deuceswilde, on 12/20/2007, -0/+8This is in addition to what you can get on MacHeist, except this requires no riddle solving to get. It seems like an approach at the more casual crowd who wouldn't be doing the missions, this way they still give out some software and get the name out in preparation for the bundle sale in January.
- mikepictor, on 12/20/2007, -1/+9the most....jewish company?
- clari0n, on 12/20/2007, -1/+8I'm confused. By digging him down, are people implying that free hardware is a bag thing?
- capran, on 12/20/2007, -0/+6I think they were alluding to "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein.
- MacParrot, on 12/20/2007, -0/+6I bet you can't wait for the 5th grade
- Dorian822, on 12/20/2007, -2/+8Freeware has become the launch platform that benefits everyone. It's akin to indie film breaks for actors. You prove you can do the work and give something to the audience, giving the corporate execs proof of your great talent. That's my opinion, I'm just grateful for free software. :)
- MacParrot, on 12/20/2007, -0/+5True, but this means we don't have to run BootCamp or Parallels to go into Windows and just use it with the OS we prefer. You know, that whole freedom of choice thing? Sorry you don't understand.
- mcnearcj, on 12/20/2007, -1/+6I think spell check is free.
- Raian, on 12/20/2007, -0/+5you should be ablt to go the macheist "my loot" page and download from there.
- howitzeral, on 12/20/2007, -2/+5Here's a good summary of it:
http://www.macnn.com/articles/07/12/05/hack.prank. ... - gregorypierce, on 12/24/2007, -0/+3Okay, since you are so sure of this, please provide some proof of this claim. I mean don't defame these guys with no evidence.
- MacParrot, on 12/20/2007, -1/+4You think it would be that easy for him?
- TheKrillr, on 12/20/2007, -2/+5what pr stunt? what did i miss...
- tumuchtime, on 12/20/2007, -3/+6Thanks MacHeist! The heist itself is a lot of fun and the free apps/games are icing on the cake. For those who have to put in your negative opinions, no one is forcing you to heist.
- howitzeral, on 12/20/2007, -4/+6Agreed. I was about to sign up until I saw the copyright 2007 MacHeist at the bottom of the page. I lost all respect for MacHeist after that irresponsible PR stunt of theirs and am boycotting everyone involved in it.
- mikepictor, on 12/20/2007, -2/+4Hey.....you (see...isn't that more polite), wait an hour if you must....it's just an hour. Go have lunch. It's a sensible precaution.
- DaleoftheUK, on 12/20/2007, -5/+7Nice. Just nice :)
- MacParrot, on 12/20/2007, -1/+3Wasn't Guilable one of the aliens from ST:DS9?
- inactive, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1yeah, cuz freeware is such a new concept. kids...
- gaucho4, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1You get to "open" the presents on Christmas.
- JeffreyLloyd, on 12/26/2007, -0/+1Did everyone get their stuff?
- skparasite, on 12/22/2007, -1/+2People who say this is a spam project are idiots. They don't know what MacHeist is if they are saying that. MacHeist is a great website for Mac users that actually gives away free stuff for participating. There is no catch.
I, for one, love this. It's a great Christmas gift from one of the best places ever. - deuceswilde, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1I think it's especially a good model when your apps are fairly small, inexpensive and distributed online. By giving away a bunch of licenses it creates semi-free publicity, and some of those people are bound to enjoy the application enough that they'll buy a new license when an upgrade comes out.
- Wailord, on 12/20/2007, -2/+3Hmm, how does the referral work? I've referred someone and they've signed up, but the present is still grayed out.
- fucayama, on 12/20/2007, -2/+3maybe you just need to send a couple more referrals, I sent three and only 1 signed up and gifts were present (pardon the pun)
Also not sure but were you signed in to macheist at the time when you sent the referral, might be a cookies thing. - inactive, on 12/23/2007, -0/+1Try reading.
- XazaX, on 12/22/2007, -1/+2I, for one, am excited about waking up on Christmas morning to three -secret- shareware application boxes and opening them. Will they be worth it? They're free; are they not? Usefulness or not, the only thing I have to pay for this is my time. Ha-ha.
I "less than 3" Mac-Heist. - esotericguy, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1i just used a proxy and my alternate email address to get the extra present! =]
if anyone wants the proxy: https://clubsurfer.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi - collywolly, on 12/25/2007, -0/+1Cos they try and claw money out of you for everything perhaps?
- yer0c, on 12/31/2007, -0/+1I haven't received anything yet...what's the deal?
- DeflatorMouse, on 12/20/2007, -1/+2So, uh, am I missing something? I signed up, but there's nothing in my inbox. (And yes, I checked my spam folder.)
- DeflatorMouse, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1Ah, look at that. Thanks!
- inactive, on 12/23/2007, -0/+1bag thing?
- inactive, on 12/23/2007, -0/+1When did Hitler join digg? Plus it is run by mac heist, not apple.
- ladyvolcc, on 12/20/2007, -1/+1MacHeist is a lot of fun...the online community comes together to solve puzzles for loot and for a good cause. Plus it spreads the word about mac shareware. Give it a shot and see what you're missing!
- inactive, on 12/23/2007, -1/+1It isn't spam - search for macheist.
- EBFoxbat, on 12/20/2007, -6/+6I rather like the site layout.
