MacZOT site visitors kept in the dark for days. TUAW leaks info
tuaw.com — MacZOT has been running a storyZOT while selling an application bundle. Visitors don't know until the end what's included. TUAW got some info and has leaked it too soon.

# macs suck my *****. - Seumas, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4No kidding. Who are these morons that are digging this submission? I know what MacZOT is and have been there before. And one of my machines is a powerbook. But this submission title and description doesn't make any sense to me. MacZOT releases a new deal on an application of one sort or another on a weekly basis. Sort of likw W00T.com. However, I don't know what the "kit" and "story" and "leaked too early" stuff is all about. Lame.
- Seumas, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2"MacZOT is back with more ambiguity in the form of a special edition triple-Xtreme MysteryZOT they're calling StoryZOT."
I know what MacZOT is, but what theh ell are you talking about?
"Three mustery developers talk about their pasts, how they came to write software, and their philosophies on various issues."
What the hell is a mustery developer?
"One application out of each of the developer's software offerings will be included in the StoryZOT bundle, valued at around 70 bucks, but selling for only $6. Until now, no one, not even the over 1000 people who have already shelled out the cash for the package, knew what they were getting."
Okay. So what you are saying is that these are just regular MacZOT sales, except the item up for the week is chosen because it is an application that the specific developer who is writing a story about themselves has authored/developed?
"I however, using my stealth, cunning, and l33t hax0r skillz, have been able to pry from an inside source the fact that one of the apps in the bundle will be KIT from Reinvented Software."
Your what? KIT what? From who? - titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"# macs suck my *****." You have none.
- The_Decryptor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Your what? KIT what? From who?"
Try reading the link they put in, reading helps, it really does.
- fudged71, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5haha... i read the title and the description, and i understood everything that wasn't in CAPS !!
- Zaleucus, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Aw man, now if it doesn't come with this I'm going to be very disappointed!
- goat77, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15What?
- chadu, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8i read the article and the links... and i second your question.
What? - Bob042, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19I third that, I don't know what any of these acronyms are. What I can make of it is this: StoryZOT is a mac software package that is supposedly worth $70, but is selling for $6.
For some reason, people are buying this, and apparently TUAW (The Unofficial Apple Weblog) has used l33t hax0r skillz (their wording) to find out that KIT is included in this mystery goodie bag.
Being yet another who-knows-what acronym, KIT made me follow another link. KIT is Keep It Together, which is like a scrapbook for everything Mac.
That was too much work to do to decipher a blog. =/ - 0x00, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Something tells me that 99% of the Digg community was just completely alienated, and the parent's diggs will appropriately reflect that. ;)
[Bob042, thanks a lot for the coherent synopsis!] - hackwrench, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4There's too little information for it to be inaccurate.
- Seumas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, you've got me. I can't find anything on google about "apple KIT".
- Sturek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0There's a link in the article ( http://reinventedsoftware.com/kit/ ).
You are right, there are a lot of strange words in there, but I got everything the moment I read it. Of course I only got it, because I'm one of those waiting desperately for the reveal of the apps we just bought ;) So the post makes sense, if you know more than the average user about the Mac community.
- chadu, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8i read the article and the links... and i second your question.
- blueigloo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8huh
- Dithre, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11Who cares?
- WZot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Somone who actually use MacZOT and bought into the MysteryZOT might care. And they would also have no difficulty in deciphering the meaning of the text for this digg right away...^_^
- daldredge, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7River, when she said "Purple elephents are flying", made much more sense then this summary.
- oxigen, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4Blah, I hate maczot anyway. It takes months for you to get what you purchased.
- ThePottsDome, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I hope one of em is KIT. Zot just got my 6 bucks. I like Zot, it's kinda like a Mac version of Woot.
- Seumas, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Except that W00T has useful items on occasion. :)
- dizzledaking, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Seriously, original submitter... please rephrase that for the layman. This sounds like some sort of code.
"The zamboniZOT did run the marathon heartily, when the storyZOT leaked the info. Too soon, the zamboniZOT YOWL collaboration."
See? Same content.- limpidezza, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Not sure why, but that might be the funniest thing I've read in a while.
- steal_apps01, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@oxigen
I hate you anyway. It takes months for me to get what I purchased from your mom. - gengisPhat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Tony Danza and Sylvester Stallone in—"What?"
- ajwinder, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0basically, its like the bag-o-craps that woot has every once in a while (i dont remember what the bags are actually called). Yeah, you don't know what you're getting. But its $6. I bought in, what the hell, its just $6.
- WhiskerTheMad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3...and the FDKS went all JDLMtig on the YRDL! Hahahahaha!
I love acronyms as much as the next computer geek, but *****, man, how about a little context? - AceTracer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2From what I can tell MacZOT is a Woot.com-like site for Mac software, and they're doing some kind of Hotwire.com-like functionality where you buy a cheap software package without knowing what's in it, on the grounds that you try out new cheap software you might like. And this other site leaked what one of the packages was.
But, I'm probably completely wrong. And now my brain is tired.- WZot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Your completely right!:-)
- PandaParts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The story here is three great programs for $6.95 at MacZOT (until noon this morning):
Keep It Together - Reg price: $24.95 http://reinventedsoftware.com/kit/
rooSwitch - Reg price $14.95 http://roobasoft.com/rooSwitch/
Hawkeye - Reg price: $29.95 http://www.nitosoft.com/en.html
Just go to MacZOT folks. Not that hard to "solve".
