- inthefade, on 11/02/2008, -1/+4Why would people hope it is a hardware problem? I would prefer that it is a simple fixable software problem, rather than having to have the hardware fixed.
- WangoTango, on 11/02/2008, -1/+3folks are saying it's software. we shall see
- jjalsop, on 11/02/2008, -3/+4Good article; horrible grammar in the title.
- underdawg, on 11/02/2008, -1/+2hmmmm.....if this is actually true, I sense a recall coming? or maybe one of those nice gift cards to the Apple Store.....
- AFelsinger, on 11/02/2008, -1/+2i guarantee it's not as bad as the Sony VAIO one i've got
- thetanman, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1Agent Bork: Chief! Ya know that guy whose camper they were whackin' off in?
Agent Fleming: Bork, you're a federal agent! You represent the United States Government! Never end a sentence with a preposition.
Agent Bork: Oh, uh... Ya know that guy in whose camper they... I... I mean, that guy off in whose camper they were whacking? - beansbaxter, on 11/03/2008, -0/+0Yeah, I have one of the new MacBook Pro's. This is my first Apple anything, and I thought I wasnt used to the new trackpad, but it's been consistently happening. I'd say half of the time it works great, the other half it doesnt and I have to try again.
- Dalhectar, on 11/03/2008, -1/+1Never buy a first generation Apple product...
- CptnEvilStomper, on 11/02/2008, -0/+0Eh. A lot of people are having this problem, but I seriously doubt it's anywhere 60% of the clicks that aren't registering. Besides, there's a fairly simple solution to the problem - use the tap-to-click setting in System Prefs > Keyboard and Mouse > Trackpad. One finger for left-clicks and two for right-clicks. Apple almost always has minor issues when they make major changes to anything, but they're usually taken care of pretty quickly, so hopefully this one will be fixed soon.
That being said, I've tried out 3 or 4 new MacBooks and haven't noticed any weird trackpad issues. Can't comment on the new MacBook Pros, though, since none of the stores where I live have them in yet. - algaeturd, on 11/02/2008, -2/+1I'm calling ***** on this. 60% of clicks don't register? So 4 out of every TEN clicks DO register?
It would be completely unusable. You could even browse the internet, let alone actually work on it if this were true.
If you're going to make a might claim like this, at least make the percentage believable.
Even at the numbers he's describing at max, 10 clicks per ever 50 (I'm sure it's exaggerated) would be 20% at worst. Come on, people. - Ac1d, on 11/02/2008, -2/+1The only problem I've noticed is when I tap to drag a window, I always have to tap again to let go of it.
- kc9ews, on 11/02/2008, -2/+170% of statistics are made up on the spot......
