- 567 diggs
- digg it
- idigit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Decently cool, but a bit big
- xinul, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5yup being a new mac convert I find alot of cool widgets but abandon them once I see how much ram they are chewing up
- kenadak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7agreed in 1920x1200 it takes up an enormous amount of screen space and the images are so shrunk only the name has any meaning and that's truncated in most cases... to top it all off they are all blogs anyway with a logo at the top and text on the bottom 2/3 of the page... and not really useful if you ask me... how long do people keep dashboard open for anyway? I have it open about 20 seconds a day for time and weather.
- dctanner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thinking now... maybe a compact theme would be good in the next version.
- gaijintendo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What a bunch of moaning minnies! Just show Package contents and hack away!
I made a new background, http://www.b3tards.com/uploads/background.png and then changed the css to reflect the new sizes. e.g. the new background is 168px wide so:
#contents {
position: absolute;
top: 93px;
left: 7px;
width: 268px;
height: 90px;
overflow: hidden;
}
Get your hands dirty!
- dctanner, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3But you wouldn't want to miss any of those pretty sites ;)
- KirinDave, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Everyone in the ma.gnolia office loves this widget. We all have it on our dashboards now. Extremely cool.
- corbanbrook, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4hello #caboose
- SilverRocket, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10That looks so cool. Too bad I'm on Windows.
- bluemax, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Seconded.
- bacirriu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0That looks cool... to bad it's not for super karamba or gDesklets.
- dracula7, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7as far as im concerned del.icio.us is the only social bookmarking site worth using , and a widget like this could easily made for it
- Widescreen, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5And yet you are posting comments on the social bookmarketing phenomenon Digg... I'm thinking a Digg scroller would be sweet!
- KirinDave, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0It's harder than you think. Who is going to make the small snapshots in bulk, and serve them?
- holycola, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Where would the images come from? The thumbnails are part of the Ma.gnolia feeds.
- bacirriu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I personally prefer not to call digg a "social bookmarking" site. Digg seems to be more of (IMHO) a social tech news site.
- dracula7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1the thumbnails could easily come from alexa... or this: http://girafa.com/
which is what ma.gnolia uses, if you actually followed the thumbnails' web addresses. it would be ridiculously dumb to archive thumbnails when there are so many other viable options.
anyways, ma.gnolia.com is horribly slow/conventional... i could make the widget myself even (but i wont)
- EnricoFermi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Would make a cool FF extension
- DCUK, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Pointless fluff.
People seem to like that nowadays. - c0d3b0y, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5is this on konfabulator?
- cybernetic798, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Am I the only one who detests these some.thi.ng type names? Not only are they terribly annoying to type, it just seems lame to copy the same style when del.icio.us should be the only one using it.
- kaytrem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2gott! that's what I was going to say... very annoying and derivative. On that site the guy's blog, entitled "I am rice", can be found at http://mongoo.se -- get it? Mongoose!!1!
- mercatfat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yeah, it drives me up the wall too. It's got more pretention than a My Chemical Romance album.
Not like my opinion matters, but still.
- chickenlegs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yeah, its ok for stuff like www.ilike.us or www.digg.it but not ma.gnolia.com. Even the original submitter got the website WRONG. www.magnolia.com points to Exxon Mobil Corporation. the CORRECT address is http://ma.gnolia.com/
- dctanner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Doh! However cool they are tthere is always the problem with missing out a vital .
- verucasalt, on 10/12/2007, -15/+4No PC Version?
NO DIGG- firsttube, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2+DIGG x2 for that peecee guy up above me
- 00011000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3unless you're being ironic, you're so buried.
- meefman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2For the A.D.D. kid in all of us!
- PillowFight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Oh God, that's all I need...*more* distractions! Erk. Fortunately I'm on Windows. Good reminder to check out Magnolia, though. It sure is easier on the eyes than del.icio.us.
- amohongos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now that practically every common word is either unavailable or ridiculously expensive, we'll probably be seeing a lot more of these half-assed "combination" domain names.
- sundancekid503, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Who designed that interface? Martha Stewart?
- KirinDave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually, Happy Cog Design did it.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1No reason anything should be named like that.
Worst name ever! [Stamp]. - crapiolio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Windows, please?
- DigitalKNK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2they need more ma.gnolia widgets, its an awesome service.
- monsieurgrand02, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's mac only...Cool idea though. Anyone know of a Windows version?
- dctanner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0No worries, a Yahoo! Widgets version is on the way.
- gaijintendo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0If you are 1337 enough, you can crack the fell open in firefox, then hack the non essential stuff out, and so forth, remove the status bar and the navigation bar and squint your eyes so your screen looks half greyed out...
Seeing as a widget is just a webpage with a couple of mac tricks, it wont take a lifetime.
- piratearggghhh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It should just stay on the mac. Last time I installed widgets via konfabulator my PC, it took almost twice as long to boot. It's such an unnecessary waste of system resources for the sake of eye candy.
- yahoofrom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1...
