- crackah, on 10/10/2007, -84/+213That was ***** lame.
- Radan, on 10/10/2007, -18/+97You know, this single video for the install screen, sums up the whole difference between Mac and PC. On a PC (on XP at least) you get a DOS terminal, on a Mac you get 3D rendered letters flying around in space, forming the word "Welcome" in different languages while you listen to the song Bytecry by the electronic/alternative band called Weevil.
- glenn2041, on 10/10/2007, -10/+65Leaked? Yeah right!
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -4/+56Don't be dumb. This isn't played every time the computer boots, it's played once when you install it.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -23/+71I like it. I love the song too. They don't need to change it.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -11/+54Welcome welcome welcome welcome welcome welcome welcome!
- easy4lif, on 10/10/2007, -21/+61i like it, the last part where you see the big "X" and then it takes off reminds me of star trek and warp drive. if they could change the "ok" button to "Make it so Nunber 1" then it would totally rock.
- elhutcho, on 10/10/2007, -8/+39We have. Since April 2005.
- Jawsh91, on 10/10/2007, -9/+37You know what's even more lame?
Seeing the DOS Terminal when you start up Windows for the first time.
That's ***** lame. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25http://www.theeldergeek.com/images/XP%20Pro%20Setup%20Graphic/AA.gif
http://www.theeldergeek.com/images/XP%20Pro%20Setup%20Graphic/DD.gif - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+30OK. You just creamed yourself over "Welcome".
- polumrak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24Yay! It's got «Добро Пожаловать»! Finally!
- manitoba98xp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+25Yes, it would be hilarious if Apple misspelled "Number". :)
- simpleid, on 10/10/2007, -5/+29So... is it an operating system or... a space station? :-D
- gmprunner, on 10/10/2007, -9/+31Maybe you should have just never said anything at all.
- spectre_25gt, on 10/10/2007, -4/+22I prefer Panther's into track. "Eple" by Royksopp.
- nitrousconsumed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17It's an improvement over their previous intro.
- adude, on 10/10/2007, -6/+20Informative? Useful? It's a freaking intro video. It doesn't have to be anything other than what it is: nice to look at for 30 seconds.
And did you not like the Tiger video either? Because that wasn't any more useful or informative. - Ngai, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Sarcasm?
0_0 - Angostura, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Come on, you only hear it once a year at most. It's fine.
- Grogtron, on 10/10/2007, -28/+41Indeed, I thought this was going to be informative or useful, at the very least marketing.
In fact it was the least interesting and most annoying piece of data that goes on an OS X install disc.
Yay. - 13thKid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10touché
- AndreMA, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Right, because Microsoft, Adobe, Electronic Arts and Google are obscure, non-mainstream developers.
- ciram, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Not easy to do do, but definitely possible in motion 3.
- eihwaz, on 10/10/2007, -8/+17That music was nice the first times i heard it, but now... please, change it!
- Zippo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10It's a *welcome* video. Every copy of OS X has had one. Hell, Windows XP has one.
Its only purpose is to be flashy and welcome you. Get over it.
The point is, it's cool-looking. Nothing more, nothing less. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Gah! Flashback to re-installing XP for my Parents. *shudder*
- tothemax64, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I installed windows like... a week ago and I heard no song... maybe because I didn't have any sound drivers at that point....
- HillerMylife, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8That's why you click the link before you digg it.
- smek2, on 10/10/2007, -9/+16Looks like we got a computer expert here. You do know that MacOS X is a posix compilant OS, don't you?
Don't talk crap about a terminal being lame. You want shiny things? Go play with your fisher price toys. - shafiq, on 10/10/2007, -18/+25http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hG7sAwv5Sj8
that looks amazing... - joel8x, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7How do we know that comment really came from "beta1"? Hmmm.....
- CasadeMike, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8How is it a "scheme" if you already bought the computer? Oh that's right - you're an idiot.
- alexmuller, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11Anybody know how this is done?
I'm wondering if it's Motion 3D - awhiteflame, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9No.. you don't get a DOS terminal. You do get a "We need to check with our people before you can use your PC" screen though.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Because the new Leopard beta was just released and the devs with access to the beta are all reporting on it
- jayssite, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Thanks, I was totally lost until you translated it for us.
- moofer, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Man, is your post dumb. It provides no actual information and is a waste of time.
- ThinkBox, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7why are you all digging him down? avoid the blog spam and click here!
This link has nothing informations besides the embedded URL! - Tivor, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Probably would've gotten a better response if you had said "you are in space all alone from major GAME developers!"
- HillerMylife, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5"Sheeps" eh?
- alantocheri, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I DO like the fact I don't have to install any drivers for installed hardware. Windows does a good job considering how much hardware it works with, but it's nice to just do a fresh install and not have to worry about if whatever piece of hardware needs drivers.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5The Leopard video is advertising the new Time Machine feature.
The Tiger video advertised the new Spotlight feature.
And the Panther video advertised that OS X could finally play a video without skipping.
The Tiger video on your computer, if you're curious:
/System/Library/CoreServices/Setup Assistant.app/Contents/Resources/TransitionSection.bundle/Contents/Resources/ - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5it will be leaked by a regular app developer who has leopard, not leaked from apple
- Syvl, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5You forgot the /sarcasm tag, so we weren't sure.
- mrchin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Anyone not happy, just go hit that X button at the top right of your browser and close the digg window!
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6You do realize that "these guys" ARE from Apple? Maybe once you grasp that it won't be so amazing that the Apple logo is hidden within the clusters.
- beercosoftware, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4It's cool, I like it.
- DAllenJ, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6You mean the got Vista to work?
- joel8x, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3It plays on first boot after you install the OS (or when you buy a new Mac), right before you enter in your final settings like username and password, etc.
