- shutsa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I got third place! No way!
I love the other Leopard versions from the two who got first and second but for me to come in third, that's incredible. - Blazeix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5No kidding. down already

I've always loved putting together fake OS screenshots, just for fun, so my main reason for entering the contest was to have an excuse for wasting time doing so. *heh*
As I told the judges in my entry, I was less going for "groundbreaking" and more for improving the aspects of Mac OS X that I myself struggle with. For me, I think the stuff I did to Mail.app was the closest to my heart. As it currently stands, it's terrible at really recognizing mail as being from a PERSON, not an address (even when those people are in your Address Book), and I'd like to see that fixed. I have e-mail from my girlfriend scattered over her current addresses as well as old ones, and all I want from Mail is that it see all of those past contacts as being from her. Apple's image has always been more about people rather than software, so I wish they would see the flaws in Mail and make it more personal. I also tossed iChat logs in there because searching through old iChat logs is currently terrible, and it can be just as valuable of communication with somebody else as e-mail is.
Otherwise, please, Apple, give some love to Column view. It is in desperate need of attention.
Oh, and just for note... I've never used a NeXT system, so I didn't know about the Image Filters beforehand, and I also wasn't aware of OmniWeb having anything like visaul bookmarking, if it does. I'll have to check it out now to see, because I have a terrible memory when it comes to trying to find such and such site in my history that I know I visited recently. *laughs* - Photar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Congrats, I really really liked those images. Usually I don't like mockups but yours were great.
- guytoronto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3As per Apple SOP, many of these features will be integrated into the next revision of the OS, with no credit given to the original artist.
- notfaded1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2From the winner of contest. I remember the NeXT cubes. The first true object oriented OS. Finder preview is awesome: "Finder peek is an awesome idea so awesome we used to have it in NeXTstep. It was called Image Filters and the Workspace dynamically loaded them for custom file types. I'd love to see it come back."
- Glenn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2These are amazing, I absoutely love the first entry. I like that one which looks like Aperture too, very creative.
Loving it! Apple, read his blog and take note... - Kazaki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2...
I used to simply just be happy with reading Phill's blog. But now that you've brought this up, he comes across as a genius.
I must hire him. - guytoronto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's what your girlfriend said.
- Balanced, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Well, once Leopard ships it will have the advantage over these of actually being functional, as opposed to a screenshot...
- imyayo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Those entries are pretty good, hopefully some of the features will actually be in 10.5.
- MajikalMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Fakes are always better than the real thing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I get the feeling that it will not be the users who gain the respect of the community and are remembered for their efforts but Phill Ryu instead.
I'm sure the ad revenue he will gain from this will far outweigh any prizes that he has to pay for. This sort of thing works best when it is operated on a major site's forum, not as some stunt on a blog.
That said, the entries are very impressive - a tad optimistic at times! Congratulations to Eric Patterson. - Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -8/+218 diggs in 3 minutes!! I've never seen that before, literally, as in never!
