- bstew22, on 02/19/2009, -7/+228when is the Macbook Wheel coming out? i've been waiting for that
- dfross, on 02/20/2009, -3/+181Yo dawg, we herd you like usb ports...
- Tellie, on 02/19/2009, -4/+83I kind of see Apple going;
"Yeah, we put five USB ports there so you can connect your keyboard and mouse and all your other stuff. Also, if you want to do some *real* work, we put FireWire 800 on it." - anexanhume, on 02/19/2009, -7/+81No HDMI makes me sad, but they can't have it cannibalizing apple TV sales, now can they?
- inactive, on 02/19/2009, -4/+58Every product from Apple is "leaked". It's getting old. Today owning a Mac is not cool enough, now you have to spot the sasquatch too.
- piznut, on 02/20/2009, -3/+45Any chance this will sport a non-***** GPU?
- mrsteveman1, on 02/19/2009, -1/+39The case is fine with me, i like the way it looks and it is substantially smaller than most other machines even of this class. Making it smaller will make it more expensive.
I am glad to see firewire 800 and 2 display ports, i would buy one of these immediately when they come out. - mark925, on 02/19/2009, -1/+35This upgrade is long overdue.
- gazpoole, on 02/19/2009, -2/+34kinda hoped they'd ditch the white + swap for the black matte plastic found on the back of the iMac's
- milarepa, on 02/20/2009, -0/+28none
- kungfool, on 02/19/2009, -6/+32New Mac Mini... About time! Hopefully the case will be a little more Nano than Mini; the old design isn't looking quite as small these days.
- manitoba98xp, on 02/20/2009, -1/+27If you don't care, you do have the option of removing the Apple category in your Digg options. Here, I'll help you: http://digg.com/settings/topics
You don't have to read about Apple and we don't have to hear you whine about it. - ethana2, on 02/20/2009, -0/+24Are you one of those people who starts talking about Final Fantasy whenever I bring up Firefox?
- hrpmike, on 02/20/2009, -0/+24HDMI would have been cool
- chrisappleton, on 02/19/2009, -0/+21The new displayport supports sound as well and monoprice (I believe) is making a hdmi adapter that will support sound.
- brendanryder, on 02/19/2009, -2/+20For those of you who are calling this fake based on number of USB ports keep in mind the current Mac Mini has 4 ports.

- digitalpencil, on 02/20/2009, -5/+22^ what poor sod uses apple brand mice? their keyboards perhaps but mice? ***** that..
- garryw, on 02/20/2009, -1/+17no
- OddyOh, on 02/19/2009, -4/+19Hmm, I thought Firewire was dead...guess Apple was wrong about...Apple.
- ethana2, on 02/20/2009, -0/+15Apple doesn't fire employees. ..they just make them disappear. If you listen very, very closely to your macbook, you can hear still hear them screaming..
- digitalpencil, on 02/20/2009, -2/+17i'm sorry, you appear to have confused digg with youtube. please go there and never come back..
- jman8888, on 02/20/2009, -0/+15assuming they use apple brand i see.
- themastersb, on 02/20/2009, -0/+14I doubt it'll be smaller. It's still looks the exact same size when comparing the ports on the back to what it's overall thickness is. Also it can't get too much smaller in any other dimensions because it has to be able to hold a CD.
- marshn, on 02/20/2009, -2/+14You can get DVI-HDMI cables and google seems to think that mini displayport-HDMI cables are on the way.
So umm... what was your point? - digitalpencil, on 02/20/2009, -0/+12mini's use notebook hardware for the small footprint so there's no chance of anything big.. probably 9400/9600M, it's be a shame if they didn't update like the rest of the line and kept the same old GMA *****..
- mrsteveman1, on 02/20/2009, -0/+11If its a fake its a good one. It does look like a picture taken with a camera with a poor sensor or in poor lighting, and the USB ports all have slightly different reflection of the light in the room, they aren't photoshopped identicals.
- arcusxx, on 02/19/2009, -3/+14Someone will be fired soon..
- digitalpencil, on 02/19/2009, -1/+12^ agreed, the mini's about the cheapest PC at this footprint available and they're actually quite competent machines considering the notebook hardware used.
i'd like to see a 9600M and i'd love to see BR but given the price of slot-loading blu-ray drives at this height, and Steve Jobs' bizarre opinion on the licensing, it's highly doubtful..
Still, great to see a revamp for the mini, it's been a long time coming and they're great little machines, especially for the price. - digitalpencil, on 02/19/2009, -0/+11they've not axed it, just FW400 seems to be being phased out..
- Alias1431, on 02/20/2009, -0/+11DDR3?
- fahrvergnuugen, on 02/20/2009, -2/+12sure, without sound.
- Beatmiser, on 02/20/2009, -1/+11I find your post about Macs new and insightful. Well thought out and reasoned. Clearly you are at the vanguard of comedy.
/s - diulei, on 02/20/2009, -0/+9My iMac has 3.
- kelchm, on 02/19/2009, -0/+9That would look nice.
...get some paint. - stubear, on 02/20/2009, -0/+9Apple never said FW was dead, Apple just used FW as one differentiator between the MacBook and MacBook Pro. FW is really a pro level connector. USB works fine for most consumer and even prosumer level stuff.
- zero, on 02/19/2009, -2/+10Please be real
- mrsteveman1, on 02/20/2009, -2/+10Jobs sent an email to someone who complained about fw being dropped from the macbook, essentially saying things were moving toward USB for cameras.
That however doesn't mean firewire isn't being used in other areas, drives for instance, which is something a desktop machine needs badly when it only has one internal 2.5" drive. - InorganicMatter, on 02/20/2009, -2/+10Amazingly, I think this is the first leaked Apple product photo we've had that isn't indistinguishably blurry.
- mrsteveman1, on 02/20/2009, -2/+10lol @ huge piece of ***** in link
- harvinator24, on 02/20/2009, -2/+9The apple display port is hdmi but also has the ability to carry charge and take use of usb ports on a monitor.
and monoprice.com is coming out with mini display to hdmi wires, for the usual price of about 3 bucks. - Ebacherville, on 02/20/2009, -0/+7you can get a HDMI adapter dongle for it.. no worries
- Tellie, on 02/19/2009, -0/+7I'm thinking that, for instance, it's got two USB controllers: One handling three of the ports, another doing the last two + bluetooth + the IR sensor. Does it make sense? Don't know.
- omgwhataguy, on 02/19/2009, -3/+10Finally! Please Apple, release this soon! My old Mac Mini is so underpowered and I want to upgrade!
- inactive, on 02/20/2009, -1/+8pffft....you're fake
- dekenter, on 02/20/2009, -1/+7Do two display ports mean support for dual monitors?
- vat0r, on 02/20/2009, -0/+6Unless you buy the cable from China for three bucks with free shipping.
- digitalpencil, on 02/20/2009, -1/+7^ displayport carries sound.
- mrsteveman1, on 02/20/2009, -2/+8I'm not worried about sound, the thing has an optical output i would rather use. I find i never have video and sound going to the same place anyway.
Either way, displayport has sound. - redrighthand, on 02/20/2009, -0/+6yes
