- gametavern, on 08/19/2008, -7/+42As if Diggers exercise.
- andrew1210, on 08/19/2008, -2/+36Assuming this uses the iPhone's GPS for the most part, I hope it works for biking
- spudnik187, on 08/19/2008, -2/+20Been waiting for months for this. Looks awesome.

- FredFredrickson, on 08/19/2008, -5/+16The only running iPhone users do is running to the Apple store every time Steve Jobs announces a new product.
- lnfiniteLoop, on 08/19/2008, -4/+14These are not real.
- recalcitrantid, on 08/19/2008, -0/+6the entire market of people that the ipod sports arm straps caters to
- jakeshdaddy, on 08/19/2008, -7/+12This interface will allow you to transcend the physical limitations of Apple/Nike douchebaggery and achieve an unprecedented level of toolness.
- 1oneWON, on 08/19/2008, -0/+5Clarification: Earlier I said this to some perplexed looks so let me include a little more:
This is unsurprisingly real. I know the digital agency that did the original Nike + iTunes deal and this looks a lot like their work.
Digital agencies are development agencies and sometimes ad agencies that develop and create campaigns for clients, in this case Nike and Apple. See the Nike and Apple stuff for yourself here:
http://www.rga.com/default.htm?v=1.0 - mathtd, on 08/19/2008, -1/+6It would be awesome to ride on a new route with the iPhone in a pocket and hear: “Turn right on Chery Hill rd“. No need to stop to look at the map!
- kagayaki1, on 08/19/2008, -1/+5WAY overdue. +1 for biking features. Should be a lock considering Nike+ works with *stationary* bikes at 24 Hour Fitness now.
- kevinwiz, on 08/19/2008, -0/+4Speak for yourself.
- FunkyChicken, on 08/19/2008, -0/+3digital agency?
"dun dun dah.....!" - jpop, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2Lol, next you'll be telling us you're female too...
- robertnealan, on 08/19/2008, -3/+5I just finished riding 10 miles on my bike. I guess that's not exercise.
- FunkyChicken, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2And... uh.. why else would they team up??
- pfranz, on 08/19/2008, -1/+3I can easily see why they did. I'm only confused they didn't do more. Nike sponsors a lot of local races and people I see running and at the gym all have ipods. Even though I already owned a shuffle (my old workout ipod), classic (for the car), and an iphone I ended up buying a used nano just for the Nike+ and a bunch of the people I know did too. It's a really great way to keep track of your progress.
I just don't see way they waited so long to put it on the iphone. It's just a tiny reciever that puts some stats in to an xml file. From there, iTunes does the rest. I would have released a simple app upfront and sell this new fangled app as an upsale (using the gps instead of sensor). - JeremyGrieves, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2Leaked aka marketing ploy
- Jeffler, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2Stop playing MX vs.ATV...
- 3vno, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2i would be happy if they could just make the current nike+ work with the iphone. :(
- supermanred, on 09/23/2008, -0/+1No, just the trainer sensor. The iPhone already has bluetooth built in and doesnt need a bluetooth add-on dongly thingamajiggatron.
- ApplCmptrDood, on 08/19/2008, -3/+4I just wish that they would add support for the old Apple Radio Remote! I loved that on my old iPod, but now with the touch it doesn't work :(
- supermanred, on 09/23/2008, -0/+1Anyone who doesn't use a ***** harddrive based mp3 player that skips or goes dead in 2 months from running with it.
- jpop, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1It would be really cool if you could jog with your standard music playing, intersperced with turn by turn directions as needed (dropping the volume on the music while the directions are given, then raising the volume again when it is done).
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -2/+3As noted in the Gizmodo comments... remember the cost and state-of-the-artedness of the iPhone, and consider whether you want that bouncing around on your body while jogging, plus sweat.
Some people will love it. Some people will inevitably complain when something goes wrong.
(interface looks nice, though. Hopefully they use multi-touch pinch gestures for zooming and panning on the charts) - jsudesign, on 08/19/2008, -1/+2"Now we're finally getting a peek at the first shots of the interface." - It's the interface duh...
- supermanred, on 09/23/2008, -0/+1...as opposed to Microsoft douchebaggery?
- supermanred, on 09/23/2008, -0/+1Speak for yourself, fat ass.
- gettarat, on 11/24/2008, -0/+1Photoshopped.
http://nextargps.org/ - boyced, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1would it not use the dongle and the trainer sensor like the nano?
- Weip, on 08/19/2008, -4/+5Digg's users may not exercise, but iPhone user do!
- KDX200rider, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1Oh sweet Jesus make it stop!!!!! No more articles about the iPHONE please, forget waterboarding, this is real torture.
- rumblestrut, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1I'm skeptical these are real, since the Nike+ web site is entirely built in Flash. And ... let me check my phone ... nope, no Flash on the iPhone yet.
- InCider, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1This is not real according to the group actually working on Nike+ for the iPhone, which is not in Toulouse.
They also spelled the name of the song wrong (Violent?!), and its plugged in to power while the user is supposedly jogging through the city in Maps. Gizmod0wnediggiddy!
Suckers - ninjathis, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1I'm going to look for runners and steal their iPhone :)

- ramsinks.com, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1Do people still worry about shoe brands? I haven't kept up..
- recalcitrantid, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1dugg for you being so outrageously and hilariously angry
- PrometheusBorn, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1So are they going to make you buy stupid sneakers that have a stupid puch for that stupid Nike+ sensor that you can only use Nike sneakers for?
Or are they going to use the accelerometer and position tracking such that I can use it anytime with any sneaker?
I don't see a case for the old style anymore other than to sell more shoes. - monkeyhouse, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1I use a combination of an iPod (iPod Video), worn on an arm band, and a wrist-worn GPS unit when I run. Being able to combine the two and have a nice tracked workout would be great. (I'm training for a half-marathon, so having my training plan at my fingertips is wonderful)
It's not for everyone, and I admit that the iPod Video is on the big side to wear during a run, but I love the idea of having it all together.
Point... Meet counterpoint. - TehChix0r, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1I do, for emergencies. Plus, the only iPod I have is HDD based and will skip if I run with it.
It's really not that cumbersome to jog with, I don't really notice it. - pHr34kY, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1This is like my Nokia 5500... except now it's trendy.
- monkeyhouse, on 08/20/2008, -0/+0I currently use an iPod video (not as physically big as some of my older ones, but it's a biggie) in an arm band when I run. I wouldn't mind wearing something smaller, but the sweat factor has never been an issue. The arm band keeps it clean.
If they combine this with a 64GB iPhone, I'll consider jumping ship from T-Mobile to get one. I just can't justify replacing my iPod right now with something smaller, regardless of how nice or functional it is. I'm weird that way. - malschla, on 08/20/2008, -0/+0Yeah, I understand some people's needs for it. I can see augmenting an ipod to have auditory turn by turn GPS as you're running(who can read a screen on their arm while running anyway?) and even building the Nike+ receiver into it... but to have it on an iphone? Seems too much to me.
- rrbaker, on 01/15/2009, -1/+1It's an Nike+ application for the iPhone. And... let me check my phone... yep, got some applications on there.
- InCider, on 08/20/2008, -1/+1You put the sensor in your regular shoe dumbass. It's a freaking little module, not brain surgery.
- InCider, on 08/20/2008, -1/+1What a freaking moron. Flash isn't on the Nano either. It's totally not required on the iPhone to report data to Nike, even if Nike uses Flash to present details on the web. Fail!
- sito, on 08/20/2008, -0/+0Do not want to be highlighting wording errors, but this one made me smile.... "Goggle Maps" :)
