- khurt21, on 06/20/2009, -25/+366Get well, Steve
- macmcraeart, on 06/20/2009, -1/+283it's 5 x faster than my old liver and it scrolls like butter.
- what5987, on 06/20/2009, -20/+224According to Microsoft, Internet Explorer 8 can transplant livers better than any of those pesky "doctors" can.
- RekonizeYo, on 06/20/2009, -11/+167Steve 3.0 - Better Than Ever
Hope you have a speedy recovery. - itsbob, on 06/20/2009, -2/+152A good liver in Tennessee?
- Smiles, on 06/20/2009, -14/+161Actually, the article says he went to Tennessee to get his transplant, which has the shortest wait-list of any state. That's not preferential treatment - that's just smart, if you have the means to live in TN for the 48 days (average) before a liver becomes available. Nationwide the wait is 308 days.
And there are no rules saying that you can only get a transplant from the state you live in.
So I think people were digging you down because you were wrong. - FervinsUlterius, on 06/20/2009, -11/+143I wonder if he had to wait in line for a donor liver, like normal people do.
- BiscuitWorld, on 06/20/2009, -80/+199And some poor sick kid sits on a transplant list somewhere...
- Griff431, on 06/20/2009, -2/+107One article I read suggested he looked at many hospitals for a short list. He is a wealthy man, so flying to another state for the transplant isn't out of the question.
Considering this was in Tennessee, I'll bet that's what happened. - bigeyedfisch, on 06/20/2009, -16/+118What this article failed to report is that his new liver is equipped with Bluetooth and an AirPort Extreme Card. Steve Jobs - MacMan Pro.
But really though, glad you're all fixed up and getting better, Steve. - keviniskool, on 06/20/2009, -0/+102Myth: Internet Explorer can't do surgery
Truth: None of the other browsers can either. Score one for IE8

└----┴-----------┴---------┘ - HonoredMule, on 06/20/2009, -0/+100No, because the upgrade required a team of dedicated, highly-trained (and paid) professionals.
- inactive, on 06/20/2009, -5/+96If he swapped a part out does that make him a PC?
- knockout071, on 06/20/2009, -10/+84Apparently an Apple a day DOESN'T keep the doctor away.
...Somebody slap me for actually saying it.
In the meantime, I hope Steve gets well soon. - BiscuitWorld, on 06/20/2009, -44/+114LOL, I love how Apple fanboys (I own a mac, too, guys!) are so vehement in their devotion that they would digg me down for proposing the idea that Jobs got preferential treatment due to his status and wealth (which he did).
- dar0za, on 06/20/2009, -0/+66green check marks or it didn't happen.
- robbiedo, on 06/20/2009, -6/+61iLiver
- inactive, on 06/20/2009, -29/+82And meanwhile poor children go without food all over the world, while you eat. You should stop eating and give them your food instead. And all your money so they're not poor. No? Then shut the ***** up.
- MAGZine, on 06/20/2009, -6/+54I remember when everyone was like 'that dudes not well!' and Apple was like 'Oh, he's fine...*'
*fine my ass.
Oh well. Get well. - resueht, on 06/20/2009, -1/+48Comes pre-washed with Jack Daniels
- sciencemandan, on 06/20/2009, -0/+43Boom.
- Mercedes383, on 06/20/2009, -2/+44Honestly, who diggs down a get well sentiment?
- Soniti, on 06/20/2009, -12/+52I was thinking the same thing.
- stevenr21, on 06/20/2009, -2/+40what is with everyone saying he bought his way to the top of the list? the article states that average waiting time for a live in TN is 48 days.. it isn't like he had to wait long.
get well soon. - asdf2000, on 06/20/2009, -1/+39I wonder if any of us are in a position to judge that, and that's the entire ***** point.
- GeekNurse, on 06/20/2009, -2/+39Does everyone on here really think Jobs reads these comments?
- bodger, on 06/20/2009, -3/+38Itś basically the same as praying....
- FervinsUlterius, on 06/20/2009, -6/+40Considering it was Tennessee, they probably found a liver-less corpse in the Mississippi river the following weekend.
- GiggleStick, on 06/20/2009, -6/+39They should have thrown him out and replaced him with a newer model.
- Darph.Bobo, on 06/20/2009, -7/+36What tomis said was entirely appropriate. People are always criticizing others for the world's problems but completely unwilling to do ***** about it themselves. Tomis just held a mirror up to their hypocritical ass, that doesn't imply he is charitable or compassionate.
As for tebriel1; it would seem you're the self-centered *****, that's so quick to judge. Judge not, that ye be not judged. Luke 6:37 and I'm an Atheist. - longlukey, on 06/20/2009, -3/+31....and it's gorgeous.
- TheCollective00, on 06/20/2009, -19/+46***** Wall Street Journal, those capitalist *****!! I have to subscribe to read the full article?! ***** off and die
- asdf2000, on 06/20/2009, -4/+28dugg you up, but ya went down
- Darph.Bobo, on 06/20/2009, -1/+25This is Digg, home of the Trolls.
- dn11, on 06/20/2009, -4/+28Not exactly - apparently that's why he had to go to Tennessee to get it - the list was shorter.
- Shaggy3, on 06/20/2009, -6/+29Does the new liver have better battery life?
- Dabaum, on 06/20/2009, -13/+35how about you get an iHumor you piece of *****
- Meesher, on 06/20/2009, -4/+24FTA: "It's a bit controversial for patients with Steve's conditions to get a new liver, says the WSJ, because "livers are scarce and the surgery's efficacy as a cure hasn't been proved."
I'm not taking anything away from Jobs, who did what most people would do who have the means. But it is worth mentioning that NFL star Walter Payton refused a liver transplant (one became available shortly before he died) because he believed that someone else would have a better chance of survival with it than he would. Classy guy right to the end. - im2emo4myshrt, on 06/20/2009, -0/+19I'd digg you, but the check mark isn't green.
- jcroweall7, on 06/20/2009, -1/+20Microsoft's livers only cost 1/4 of regular livers with the same specs
- spookyttws, on 06/20/2009, -0/+19It's a huge gray area. If you donate a ***** of money to a hospital, which probably saves hundreds of lives, does that make you more entitled to an organ than some alcoholic who beats his wife? Most would say yes, but that's not how the system is, and the system is right. No one can judge who can live or die. That alcoholic can turn around, having a life changing event and go on to save others. That's why there's normally a waiting period (for non emergencies) where they enforce rules: no drinking, little red meat, etc. Breaking said rules disqualifies you.
- eleven, on 06/20/2009, -5/+23Which is why he stepped away temporarily - no conflict here, move along.
- SlewDigger, on 06/20/2009, -0/+18Yes, but it can't be swapped as easily as the original.
- Kyan, on 06/20/2009, -8/+26Um, it's the "WALL STREET JOURNAL", not "U.S. SOCIALIST NEWS"
- sotti, on 06/20/2009, -0/+17I hope he had AppleCare, because a new liver sounds even more expensive than a new logic board.
- adremali, on 06/20/2009, -0/+17liver? psh. i'm unibody.
- pak314, on 06/20/2009, -2/+19I heard he went to Westfall to grind for Goretusk livers. Had a poor drop rate until two months ago.
- rickyhagen, on 06/20/2009, -21/+37his new iLiver will supply us with many more great electronics
- crash331, on 06/20/2009, -3/+18--Insert joke about some Apple product and Steve Jobs' liver here--
