From what I understand, there will only be a charge for the non-beta if you do not upgrade to Leopard. It will be built into Leopard. If you are not upgrading to Leopard, and you want to use Boot Camp, you would probably have the beta already. Just keep using that, I haven't had any problems with it. - serpicolugnut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The $29 fee will only be for users of Tiger who want to keep using Bootcamp after it exits beta status. This is similar to how iChat AV was offered to Jaguar users for $29 if they didn't want to upgrade to Panther. If you buy Leopard, you will get Bootcamp included in the price of the OS.
- monkeybutler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Think about this one before digging me down. Apple was "rumored" to charge $5 for the wireless N fee. People got upset and when it was revealed at $2 then some actually praised the new price as being cheap (despite its something we already own). Maybe the same is going on with Bootcamp.
Bootcamp being rumored to be $30 but if they officially come out saying its $15 then people will react positively because its cheaper. - kloud213, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2well if they charge for a boot loader and some drivers they are silly. thats all there is to that.

Actually, I don't think you will have to pay to *keep* using your present Boot Camp install. I really can't see Apple locking people out of their currently installed OSs.
They might have put a time-out in the betas, so that you can't make any new installs, but I doubt that as well (although easy enough to check, and easy enough to bypass using the same means). Most likely, the fee will only apply to new downloads, as well as any new updates. - mpeters13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If apple charges, I'm probably going to upgrade to leopard anyway... Else, there's always XOM...
- zigziggityzoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3BFD. It comes with Leopard. Upgrade your OS.
- PointGuard, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Ive heard that it will be built into Leopard. So they wouldn't add $20 to the OS upgrade just for Bootcamp right?
- PointGuard, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3No Apple wouldn't do that...trust me.
