Interview with Macworld's Jason Snell
amgserve.com — Macworld Expo/Conference has come and gone, and Jason Snell attended [of course], so I asked Jason to answer a few questions about the Expo and his experience, it's a good read.

- theheadguy, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6Not that sweet. Honestly, a pretty lame article. I love Apple products but this year's Macworld was boring and lame.
He mentions in the article, "I wasn’t really surprised about iLife and iWork not being there. I was a little surprised about the Mac stuff not being covered, but let’s look at this realistically: the iPhone was going to blow any other announcement out of the water in terms of press coverage and attendee mindshare. Who wants to be AirPort Extreme and be forgotten before it was even remembered? Better for Apple to move those products to a later introduction."
NO! This is sad proof that Apple HOLDS out technology. They block it's release so they can make bigger oohhs and aaahhs when they find it appropriate. In the end, they stop the world from progressing. Again, I love Macs as much as the next guy, but if you would sit for a few minutes and think about this before you flame me for my opinion, you will realize this company can release a lot more than they do, and much faster. - actn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Nothing new here..
- monkeybutler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Look, I'm all for praising Apple when they do good things (which they do a lot) but when it comes to being a journalist then you can't be so one-sided. Credibility with any other product comes from having the ability to be balanced but people like Macworld Magazine's Jason Snell (one of the top 5 annoying Apple apologists ever) are the ones who make the rest of us Mac users look like blind fools. They can't point out something negative about Apple without immediately following it with an excuse for why its not really Apple's fault.

"you will realize this company can release a lot more than they do, and much faster"
Are you serious? Half the people that own Apple products already complain about the rate of new product updates and releases Apple has.

- sensibledriver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Wow...some 17 year old kid has an opinion on Apple stuff. AWESOME!!!!!1111!!!
- jsnell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I love it when e-mails I tap out in 15 minutes end up on digg.
- monkeybutler, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Whats the big surprise? The articles you tap out on Macworld don't seem to take more than 15 minutes to write either.
I know you don't care but I've unsubscribed from Macworld specifically because you write way too many articles for them. Get some more writers that can actually present a counter-point to all that mac loving over there because it's difficult to take someones recommendations seriously when all they do is make excuses for a corporation.

- rasice, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Attending Macworld makes you an instant celebrity. How dandy.
"Macworld’s Jason Snell"- unixguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Maybe you are being sarcastic ... sorry if that's the case.
But, Jason Snell is the editor of MacWorld magazine, not just and attendee of the conference.
Although there is not much new in this interview, I still digg this. Jason gets my respect because he speaks so fairly about Apple and the products. Not what you might expect from a typical editor of a Mac magazine. I especially like his views on DRM (not covered in the interview).
There was one new bit of news to me. He said the Cingular deal with Apple is for three years. Other sources that I saw mentioned two.

- onestep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, he is the VP, Editorial Director of Macworld Magazine (his name is at the top of the list in the Magazine).... so that does make him a credible authority on what was happening @ Macworld Expo.... hence the name Macworld Editor in his title.
I think it's great he grants interviews to 17 yr old kids & other members of the Mac community. Way to go Jason! - DeleteForever, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"...how close to Steve Jobs were you?"
While I love my Macs, this is a little too breathless-girl-meeting-rock-star for me. - jsnell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wow, Monkeybutler, thanks for the personal endorsements... Believe it or not, I try to be pretty fair and not come down on the side of being a blind Apple booster or a blind Apple hater. I'm sorry that I'm not grinding my axe for Apple as much as you'd like. There are plenty of others who think I don't praise Apple enough.
Glad you still care enough about me to slag me in public, though...- dreampilot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Why would I buy a Mac magazine and expect it to slam apple. That's just stupid. If MacWorld's articles are pro-apple - well DUH. And I should add I agree - as a Macworld attendee for the past 17 years, this was one of the better shows in my opinion - and part of the fun and excitement is going to the keynote (getting up at 3am not so fun lol) . So we're geeks and nerds who like apple. Guilty and proud of it.
