- laserob, on 10/11/2007, -7/+136Dear Apple, please develop a mac mini with 256MB graphics card, blu-ray drive and HDMI out please.
- perrysalyer, on 06/03/2008, -7/+89interesting. just make an iphone without the phone. then ill be happy
- smurf22, on 10/11/2007, -5/+62Dude Ipods with OSX would kick all kinda of ass.
- Quickdood, on 10/11/2007, -5/+42Nice, OSX Ipod, that's what I have been waiting for. The iphone is cool and all, but AT&T sucks, edge sucks, and monthly service fees suck. Gimme an ipod with wifi and safari and I will be a happy camper.
- DiggUmFrog, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23I like how they are giving all the apple employees iPhones. I like when companies do that sort of thing.
- _skin_, on 10/11/2007, -5/+25That is everything I hoped the "Apple TV" would have been.
- fernB, on 10/11/2007, -6/+24no the "Big" thing is a tablet Mac that is slightly smaller than a big ass table
- inexplicable, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14http://www.apple.com/iphone/
- theokandroid, on 10/11/2007, -5/+15Kinda sucks if you've only been working there since november. :(
- novakane, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Amen! Amen! I want to buy a Mini, but macrumors buyer's guide predicts a H/W update should be released soon. It hasn't been updated since Sept. of last year. I would be angry to buy one now and have a santa rosa version come out in a month. So my macbook remains both my laptop and my media machine for now.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9This is a really exciting time for Apple. There is no more intel transition to worry about, so hopefully there will be some amazing design changes for both the ipod and mac. In a few months, the focus should shift a bit from the iphone and onto the other two "legs" of the business.
- superkendall, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11Really all that's needed is the Blu-Ray drive. The current Mac mini supports 1080p video just fine - you don't need a fast video card for that as modern processors are able to handle the decoding.
You also don't really need HDMI out, since HDMI is just a wrapper for DVI and digital audio - both of which the Mac mini also has. With a DVI to HDMI adaptor you can attach a mac mini to any HDTV (I've done so with a Mac laptop).
However is Apple ends up supporting the same encrypted video path that Microsoft does, then indeed you might need HDMI. The tradeoff that might make it worthwhile is HDMI 1.3 and Deep Color support. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10Too bad both hd-dvd and Blu-ray are gonna be irrelevant in the face of HD movie downloads... Just as soon as someone manages to make it all work smoothly.
- Ireland, on 10/11/2007, -2/+910" Multi-Touch MacTablet!! That kind of thing could replace a notebook for good.
- jeffeb3, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8for $600 too.
- antique, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10too bad. Apple has decided to only support Blu-ray.
- jeff303, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Or (and this is just a guess) AAPL is doing a bit better financially now than when you worked there?
- HewcardPacklet, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9Give me a 24 inches iMac tablet with multi touch on a glass surface, using Santa Rosa chipset and a low profile 7200 rpm drive, that looks like a giant iPhone. Please.
- ThankTheCheese, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6I have a bad feeling the mini is going to be discontinued. I hope I'm wrong but it just feels like they've lost interest in it.
- sl33stak, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5AMEN BROTHA! The ultimate HTPC running OS X
- laserob, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7I'm all for either format -- I have some HD-DVD's myself, but it looks like blu-ray is the only format with the $$ to win. Read http://www.thedigitalbits.com/articles/soapbox/soap060107.html very strong argument for blu-ray. Peace.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Full blown apple hater here. I would buy a 9" multi-touch tablet that did nothing but run Safari and wifi.
- Audscias, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Don't worry, it's very likely to run on it. Have you ever tried tiger on a g3? It's smoother than jaguar. =)
- DaffyDuck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Thanks for the intelligent insight.
- MixMastaKooz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4That's probably what Jobs means by an Ipod with OSX: a phone-less iPhone.
- adamgamble, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Wow I think you read a little too far into that one buddy. Making a touch screen iPod and also an iPhone is not a bad thing, they are different markets. Some people either can't get an iPhone because of money or they're on some other network, but those people would still like to have an iPod, that doesn't mean the iPhone is a failure.
I have an iPod but I rarely remember to bring it with me, or don't want to because I already have my cell phone in my pocket. That, combined with the fact that my cellphone sucks (Cingular (HTC) 2125) is why I'm going to be buying an iPhone tomorrow, but there are a lot of people who are happy with their phone and just want a cool touch screen iPod. - Bootes, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6The US does not have fast enough internet connections yet. Maybe in 5 years, but the cable companies and telephone companies other than Verizon need to stop sucking.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6I would have been happy to be able to download the movies right from the apple tv. But all I got was youtube.
- superkendall, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Funny, except that they get them late July.
- adamgamble, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5It didn't seem to me that he acted like apple invented it. All it said was use it for games.
- LoganT, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3That would horrible.
- chriskeyes, on 10/11/2007, -9/+12I love Apple! I digg all the Apple stories, because Apple makes the best products in the world. Could you doubt that?
- themastersb, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I'd like to see a more appropriately priced Macbook..... like at least 100 bucks less
- Audscias, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Mac Mini was a success, It's just the the lowest-cost mac, they'll update the hardware when they finish the stocks of coreduos and so...
- inexplicable, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Yeah, they really shouldn't have invited them to the meeting. That's just cruel ;)
- smackjack, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4If you are tired of seeing Apple stories, go into account settings and remove the Apple section
- KSUdesigner, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3It's that white box that has been sitting next to my TV collecting dust for months. It's screaming at me to give it a good game but there aren't any in sight.
- MadOtaku, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Try Excite Truck, Zelda, Call of Duty, and Elebits. All of these are pretty good.
- gr3i, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Here's a $500 iPhone. Call someone who cares.
- iburl, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6I can't belive he's giving the employees iPhones! I worked there for 10 years, and all steve ever gave me was a pay freeze (3 years), a loss of sabattical time (6 weeks vacation every 5 years, gone, poof), reduced health benefits, and a stinkin original iPod shuffle ($99 retail). He must be getting soft in his post-cancer scare old age.
- rob08, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Dude, get a grip man.
Computers get updated all the time.
Oh, and btw, you do realize its June right now? Next year is not in 2 weeks, rather >6 months. Did you really expect that the evolution of technology would stop once you bought your MBP? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2But with the Dell (I'd choose Acer or HP personally but that is my choice) you have the option to outfit it the way you need it. That means a decent computer running Vista Premium can be had for 450-500 dollars(even less if you are happy with xp and used hardware, heck go dumpster diving to get a perfectly acceptable computer nowdays). If all you are gonna do with it is look at the web... You would be insane to pay more. I dont think an apple computer can be had for less than $1000.
- derricklorah, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Steve has class.
- KSUdesigner, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1From my experience, Applecare typically does cover this sort of stuff. A few years ago we had an employee spill a soda into the keyboard, Applecare replaced the keyboard. More recently my roommate was working on her laptop when her jackass boyfriend came in, threw something at her, which resulted in the laptop being knocked off the desk and bending the screen to hell. Apple replaced that as well. My guess is either your warranty really was expired, or you just ran into one of the (many) ***** at the Apple store.
- sammykeyes, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Ok, I see what you're talking about. But the reason why Apple posts get a lot of votes, seems to be because there's a huge abundance of multiple digging, or Digg bombing, to get them on the frontpage. Then once it reaches the homepage, other Apple fans immeadiately pounce on it, and once again, it 'seems' to be one of the popular things on Digg. I think that's kind of cheating. Plus, most of this Apple 'news' is nothing more than rumors, or a little "I love Apple" post. I don't want to have block everything Apple, because I like Apple, but not this much. It just seems to be one of the nastier things on Digg.
- rglover, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Well, that was irrelevant. Congrats jodan.
- Trax91, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Juicy ass, hammy ass, hairy ass, donkey ass, the letter S, etc.
- jer2eydevil88, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I get the same feeling... something tells me they want to offer a higher end Apple TV for the price of the Mini...
- gulmargha, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Touch… Games… ever heard of NintendoDS?
- bradleyland, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The people want, the people get, it's the simple.
Ever consider that what you care about may not be congruent with the whim of the masses? If you look carefully, you can spot iPhone in the title and skip the topic. -
