- cmallinson, on 08/10/2008, -4/+18Please stop saying that.
There are many more factors that help promote a story to the front page. It involves the amount of diggs, the rate that the story is being dugg, and the variation of people that are digging it (if a person who only diggs tech stories suddenly diggs an entertainment, or world news story - that digg may get more weight).
You're not the digg police. - mmilton, on 08/10/2008, -1/+12Wish it would push Outlook Tasks (To Do's)
- judicar, on 08/10/2008, -2/+13"However, nobody provides full push messaging updates to desktop clients over the Internet, and particularly not to consumers, as we point out in the following segment comparing MobileMe to other consumer and corporate push messaging alternatives. Push messaging is a service designed for mobiles."
I wish they would put this in big bold letters. - 99Casimir, on 08/10/2008, -2/+11What's the deal with all the crappy comments above me.
- deadbaby, on 08/10/2008, -2/+10Why did you buy an iPhone then? You knew it didn't have these things. Unless you're ignorant you really have no excuse. Bitching & moaning probably won't help things much.
- deadbaby, on 08/10/2008, -0/+6Five letters vs. more than a dozen.
- CarzorStelatis, on 08/10/2008, -0/+5Erm... then don't buy an iPhone?
- inactive, on 08/10/2008, -0/+4The iPhone doesn't even handle these, and you can bet that when it finally does, they'll be useless because there won't be any categories.
It's incredible that Apple has no PIM that matches the functionality that Outlook and the Palm OS offered more than a decade ago. - kipmartin, on 08/10/2008, -1/+5have your doctor raise the dosage on your meds.
- maexus, on 08/10/2008, -0/+4You mean the people who didn't buy the service? You are constantly connected to "the cloud" aka the internet if you have broadband.
- hiro, on 08/10/2008, -0/+4I want one of whatever he's drinking!
- digitaldivinci, on 08/10/2008, -3/+6If I hear copy/paste one more ***** time..
We get it. Not having it ***** sucks. They will add it because people keep bitching. - jinkop38, on 08/10/2008, -0/+3"You're all my witnesses" said Phil Schiller during the MobileMe keynote.
Back then I knew we were heading for trouble. - BrendanSheehan, on 08/10/2008, -0/+3They are the people who hate the Apple section but can't figure out how to uncheck that Apple preferences box.
- hiro, on 08/10/2008, -0/+3Or that recurring events like anniversaries etc don't show the yrs passed in brackets like they do on a Winmo phone. I am desparately trying to manage with my iPhone as a one device solution but it's looking more ad more like I'm going to have to carry my Trinity as well to fill the gaps that the iPhone OS in its current form can't handle : (
- judicar, on 08/10/2008, -1/+4Go back and RTFA.
- talonh, on 08/10/2008, -0/+3"WTF"? What the ***** is that supposted to mean? Don't question the use of an abbreviation by using one. Makes you look stupid.
- MrChunks, on 08/10/2008, -1/+3Not sure if Apple has fixed the push email on mail.app but I'm getting emails on my desktop the second I send them from my gmail account. Not getting that 15 minute delay now.
- r3zonance, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2At least with IMAP the mailbox contents is identical, regardless of location. Yes webmail is good, but still doesn't beat a good email client (read as "NOT Outlook").
- dagamer34, on 08/10/2008, -1/+31 minute polling = battery drain. No thanks.
- axiomo, on 08/10/2008, -2/+4Quit being so defensive.
I've supported Apple for years, but that doesn't mean you can't be open about what you want to see improved or fixed in the device on a public forum.
I don't understand some of these fanboys who will accept and praise everything Apple ever creates without question and who'll totally fly off the wall once something remotely critical is mentioned. - axiomo, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2Honestly, despite my complaints, I think the iPhone is great, and I did know about some of the major limitations well before I got the phone. I just wish they could bring the core features in regards to texting and messaging up to par with the core capabilities of other phones already on the market, especially if they are now trying to promote the iPhone for business and enterprise use.
- Narfmaster, on 08/10/2008, -1/+3I dunno, Microsoft still make half-good products but I wouldn't call any of their consumer products cool.
(In before Surface etc. That's not a consumer product...yet.) - utnow, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2And the millions of people who've been begging google to support it with their Gmail service for years.
- binorgog, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2amen
- r3zonance, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1"Oh yeah, and no copy & paste, and no ability to forward SMS messages. "
What the hell have they got to do with MobileMe? - espresso0, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1MobileMe works great between my iPhone and the Web apps. Now using it on a computer is an entire different story.
- axiomo, on 08/10/2008, -1/+2"yahoo? hahahahaha! you still have CompuServe dial up? "
What does that have to do with CompuServe or dial-up? Are you kiddin me? Many people have personal email accounts on either Yahoo or Gmail. I have and use both on my iPhone in addition to my corporate accounts. Besides, Yahoo Mail specifically was originally touted by Apple as having "push" capability on the iPhone when it was first launched (this was before MobileMe). So it's not completely absurd for me to be using my free Yahoo email account for personal mail on my iPhone, don't you think?
Secondly, what's up the the rest of your rant about Windows? You can buy iPhone apps in BOTH the Windows and Mac versions of iTunes. And for the record, my main computer is a Mac.
If you're going to be a Mac evangelist, great -- but at least be informed about what you're talking about, get YOUR facts straight, and quit assuming that just because someone is critical of something, doesn't mean they are anti-Apple. - Me1000, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1CarzorStelatis umm... There is no Mac App store, you can just run any application you want without it having to be approved by Apple. Us Mac users are so deprived!
- CarzorStelatis, on 08/10/2008, -2/+3So the only way to get emails and contacts to sync instantly is to use IMAP? Thanks but no thanks Apple, I have that already and it's called Gmail.
- l1wulf, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1Yeah, because average human memory obviously can't handle remembering what you just entered in your desktop calendar 5 minutes ago, much less 15! What do they think we are, some sort of superhuman memory freak? Oh wait, you're concerned with not having that appointment coming up in 10 minutes not being shown in your shared calender, right?
I think not having important files transferred instantly is more of a concern, but then again, I would imagine a forced polling or singular file push will be available.
Truth be told, I think most people are just reading the short description above and see an opportunity to bitch. - mrBitch, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1Correct, adverts should really target the fact that MobileMe = your own personal exchange server.
- r3zonance, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1What Apple has, is way better Outlook, granted it is split over a couple of programs. But Outlooks IMAP support sucks (delete a message and it hangs around in your inbox until you "purge deleted messages", very sh!t and not very deleted really). The search function is Outlook is appauling and very slow anyway.
Outlook Calendars is average, although a little bit unwieldy at times. - r3zonance, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1You have obviously never used either service for any length of time, have you?
They are quite different in some respects. - InCider, on 08/10/2008, -1/+2maybe you should actually read the article rather than just knee jerking about what you think it says.
and if you have, read it again, slower, while paying attention. - r3zonance, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1So turn off push then, you ass.
- r3zonance, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1"So the only way to get emails and contacts to sync instantly is to use IMAP?"
NO!!!!!!
IMAP and Push are NOT the same thing. It just happens to be that Apple has push email, and that happens to use IMAP as the mail protocol (although POP is also an option too, I believe). - l1wulf, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1As useless as your posts are, I still find them hilarious. You should expand beyond mostly Apple diggs.
- LeeSoong, on 08/11/2008, -1/+1MobileMe ?
Wow, is the site back up again ? - inactive, on 08/11/2008, -1/+163 diggs within an hour or 2 will get it on the front page.
And Digg is very pro Apple, so conspiracy doesnt work. - r3zonance, on 08/11/2008, -1/+1But the iPhone is way better than any Windows Mobile phone.
- Me1000, on 08/10/2008, -2/+2The man didnt buy an iPhone, he just likes to bitch! I like to call those people trolls...
- CarzorStelatis, on 08/10/2008, -1/+1Yeah - there's no Windows app store, you can just run any application you want without it having to be approved by Apple. Us Windows users are so deprived!
- inactive, on 08/11/2008, -1/+1Live mesh and most of MS Live products have been working surprisingly well.
"I dunno, Microsoft still make half-good products but I wouldn't call any of their consumer products cool."
You mean things that actually work?
And mentioning surface, remember MS makes the software, the medium in which its being used sucks. If you want to see something similar in action on a PC at the moment, check out the HP TouchSmart PC - tao52nyc, on 08/10/2008, -2/+1Does anyone else NOT want to be continuously "synched" or "pushed" by (or into) a "cloud"?? That being constantly "connected" is as much a curse as a blessing?
- SquareWheel, on 08/10/2008, -2/+1It's a rather silly way of saying "In my opinion".
- MrChunks, on 08/10/2008, -5/+4This is way too expensive for who? You? Me? Everyone? It's not too expensive for me.
- WaveRunningNakd, on 08/10/2008, -2/+1Plaxo keeps my tasks, notes, calendars, and contacts in sync on MACs and PCs for free.
And Plaxo has less down time.
Just saying... - inactive, on 08/10/2008, -2/+1mobileme is .mac
nothing changed -

What is Digg?
