bootloader checks that dword at end of flash (end secpack)
think they made it change the version on the bb to like 999, so if something trys to upgrade, it thinks its new ?
guest184, keep explaining
a0020410 is blank in the loader
and if there NOTHING in flash file at that position - i repeat - that is IMHO - it accepts flashfile is valid
of course, flash must be erased too
wow, thats a big bug
and later...
IT WORKS!!!
WHAT????
guest184, flash write works
at least, with their loader
WTF
Doux Jesus :-)
wow!
I'm going to try a modified copy

Did anyone find what their patched nor uses as the password for AT+CLCK?

its just a few hours before we have a freeware unlock - Sethd85, on 11/03/2007, -2/+43I think, secretly, Apple may be happy that all these unlocks have come about. To them, it means more iPhone sales. Sure, Apple is doing revenue sharing with AT&T, but the bulk of their profit is coming from the actual hardware.
The only loser here is AT&T. - Empyrean, on 10/10/2007, -3/+42LOL at all you morons who paid for this.
- Respec7, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Time to drive down to the states and buy myself a iPhone
- kris33, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Damn. Digg ***** up the usernames because it looked like HTML-code.
- iancgi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14and this is why the internets will never be stopped. The invention that connected the entire world and our minds
- brossatscu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13To the Jackasses that wanted us to pay for this:
These guys will be in the Today Show in a few days and will probably get a sweet job offer from some company. Meanwhile, you'll be taking the small amount of money you made and wondering what happened to all your hopes at dreams. Enjoy whatever small amount of money you might have made off this, because the "Donate" button on this group's website will make at least 10x that much. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12http://rs157.rapidshare.com/files/55044435/iUnlock.zip
- Division, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Congratulations.
- mikeazorin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10It's the retailers who got screwed.
- jonshipman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8actually Respec7 is from Greenland and will be driving to Maine on the ice bridge.
- synagence, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8If this is some kind of buffer overrun hack then surely it will be an ongoing exchange between iphone updates and these solutions ... even if apple doesn't too much mind the situation these holes will get plugged 1 by 1
- PhireN, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I hate it when that happens
- picsectionpleez, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7These guys are owed a huge debt of gratitude. And I'm sure that's why they did it.
- BoneStamp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I'll digg it when I can download it.
- lordkenthegreat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Time to celebrate!
- RealityCheque, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6OK...I DO run Mac OS X...and I still can't understand how to use it.
- xxdesmus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Not Verizon or Sprint ...they don't use SIM cards.
- Hoshnasi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Oh boys... A buffer over flow hack? While it is nice to be able to unlock the iPhone leet reverse engineering like this is gonna get patched.
- bsonline, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5The CEO of iPhoneSimFree has written an open letter in light of this recent development.
To my loyal customers,
Sometimes, this is the ***** you have to deal with. I really appreciate your money. However, there have been numerous death threats.... hmmm.....
Ok, I'll give you a 20% refund as a credit to our store, so that you may purchase additional copies of iPhoneSimFree.
In conclusion,
Sent from my iPhone. - TheCount, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6This is great. I'm happy it came out before more people were fooled into paying those jackass companies that are trying to profit from this, which Engadget has been working so hard to promote.
- Zammo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5it's probably in their EXCLUSIVE contract with AT&T in america.
- picsectionpleez, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Well, AT&T hasn't exactly lost though because they're making tons of revenue from the folks that would never try something like this. BUT excellent point about Apple seeing it coming all along. That could be why they chose AT&T...
- kris33, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4A couple of IRC chans full of live action right now:
/server fusion.osx86.hu
#iphone
#iphonesimfreefree
#ipsff
/server London.UK.Eu.Undernet.Org
#iphone.unlock - UTjunkie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Instructions:
You need the RAR with 3 files....
Move the three files to your phone:
PuTTY into the phone
mv iUnlock /usr/bin
chmod 755 /usr/bin/iUnlock
launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
/usr/bin/iUnlock ICE03.14.08_G.fls nor
may require a reboot :) - yokozuka, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5The post has been updated with a link for download.
The Death Star has exploded, at last.
BTW, GeoHot NEVER did it. The iPhone Dev Team did this unlock. Kudos for their patience, their skills and for suffering all the attacks from the usual morons. - betobeto, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4So, when's this hitting TPB?
Sweet. Now I just need...an iPhone. Heh.
In your face, AT&T! - brad76r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4yeah, I'm way too broke to be able to afford an iphone, but I am really impressed at the tenacity of these hackers. Watching all of this going on from the outside is very interesting indeed. Also, I agree with some of the other people's statements that apple probably won't be patching this, it only helps their sales. And the reason they signed an exclusive contract w/ AT&T is because they get revenue sharing. So its a win win. They might screw up these hacks every now and then, to demonstrate a legal effort to stay true to their contract with AT&T, but at the end of the day its best for apple for it to be unlocked.
- streetstealth, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4No kidding, and I somehow doubt iPhoneSimFree is going to mail them a bulk order of $100 giftcards either. :(
- jersey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I got a little hacker wood .......
- haid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3So that you can swap the SIM card with a cheap local one while travelling abroad and avoid the multi-thousand dollar roaming charges.
- incognit0, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Wouldn't a restore in iTunes fix that? Also, once the phone is unlocked, can a firmware update re-lock it?
- MalikNYC, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Check out http://iphone.unlock.no/ for in depth instructions
- walkingcrow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3What about us stuck with windows? vmware maybe?

- JWhempner, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If I get an unlocked iphone and I am already with AT&T do I need to get a new plan or can I continue to use the same plan?
- brad76r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3if you don't run macosx, you can't, just yet.
- nunofgs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yes. A thousand times yes. Apple CAN fix these things if they are so inclined! Keep your $100 folks.
- JimExplore, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4keep an eye on http://www.freeiphoneunlock.com/unlock/files/ and keep hitting refresh - all files including a tutorial will be posted there by HaRRo
- TellarHK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2What I'm curious about now, is whether anyone can confirm or deny a T-Mobile Blackberry SIM will work, with full data.
