- danjwray, on 07/02/2009, -3/+20How did a guide to unlocking the original iPhone make front page? Oh, the submitter is a "power user". What a load of ***** this site has become.
- u8myfoood, on 07/02/2009, -1/+11Except it is talking about the 2g version which HAS no 3g capabilities at all. And the price for the crappy service provided by ATT is complete *****. Also jailbreaking has allowed people to copy and paste for a while, which has taken Apple over 2 firmware updates to enable. So yea, that is unlocked potential!
- DahRecords, on 07/01/2009, -5/+12Screw AT&T. Unlocking unleashes the phone's potential!
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -1/+7You're either a very committed troll or a retarded 13 year old. I can't tell.
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -1/+7Wait. There are still people who are unaware about jailbreaking?
- u8myfoood, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5It's talking about disabling the SIM lock to ATT not SSHing the iPhone/iPod touch to install apps. And the article clearly states it is to enable use on T-mobile or other GSM networks not even mentioning installation of apps. RTFA next time, and use some punctuation if you want to make a point!
- outfed, on 07/02/2009, -2/+7Buried for "OG" in the description.
- FearNLoathing, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3The article states that they were able to get someone at AT&T to give them an unlock code. I didn't even know that the iPhone had a place to enter one..
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3Iphone 3g is an iphone with 3g and a cheaper casing.
3gs adds a compass and a slightly better chipset to run apps better.
yeah only an idiot would think these are similar
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thum ... - u8myfoood, on 07/02/2009, -1/+4T-mobile even has an iPhone support team for individuals with unlocked iPhones for a while too, just in case you were one of the people who had done it earlier on.

Imagine that, a company that supports 3rd party phones, since when has ATT done that! - lightningrod220, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2Okay, so you've unlocked your AT&T-based iPhone! Look at all of these other awesome choices!
There's T-mobile, and...
uh...
dammit. - Tanbo, on 07/02/2009, -1/+3Not sure how it unlocking unleashes it's potential.
All it does is allow you to switch over to TMobile which, depending on where you live, could be good or could suck. But that's the same with AT&T.
Jailbreaking may unleash its potential, but one doesn't need to unlock in order to jailbreak. - eh270, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1How much, after all the taxes and fees, do you pay per month for 2 iPhones on Tmobile (including the data plan)?
- FuZi0nDET, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1I read about that, I loved hearing about it since I had an i-phone at the time that article came out. I've never had any issues with T-Mobile and I've been running on T-Mobile for about 2 or 3 years now.
- willwooten, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1and a more expensive service contract
but in all seriousness, i upgraded because edge is painfully slow and because of the new video feature. it's pretty good quality. oh and also because the original one cost me $600, so $200 to upgrade seemed like almost nothing. - danjwray, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1In the UK there's T-Mobile, Virgin, Orange, 3, Vodafone, Tesco, ASDA, BT and handful of others. Many other countries have lots of GSM operators too. There is a world beyond your country.
EDIT// I see that the article does specify AT&T, but still, people travel. - CityandColourrr, on 07/02/2009, -5/+5Gotta love ***** Power Users and the flawed god damn system of Digg.
- FuZi0nDET, on 07/02/2009, -2/+2If you've had your OG I-Phone for two years and have yet to unlock it I feel sorry for you. The first few unlocks weren't the most user friendly, so I guess that would probably hold some back. I bricked mine a few times before I got the hang of it.
I've been running my i-phone on t-mobile for about a year and a half on my cheap little family plan with no problems. - Jrr6415sun, on 07/02/2009, -1/+1you're an idiot if you think the 2g iphone is anywhere close to the same as the 3GS iphone
- DaviDTC, on 07/02/2009, -3/+2There isn't a contract when you sign up for digg that you can't use the reply button for 2 years.
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -2/+1why do you have two of basically the same phone?
- xsecretfiles, on 07/02/2009, -3/+1I miss my unlocked 2G phone...but I had to get the 3gS because of the speed :(
I can't wait until dev team releases the jailbreak for 3gS though...I might just stick it to at&t after a year or so - Xaevier, on 07/02/2009, -3/+1Oh AT&T how we long to be free on our precious 3Gs
- willwooten, on 07/02/2009, -4/+1ZOMG I just finished doing this on my old 2G iPhone literally 20 minute ago because my new 3G S arrived today. And then this popped up on Digg. Is Steve Jobs watching me?
- protodon, on 07/02/2009, -4/+1Yeah enjoy T-Mobile. I'll be here when you get back.
- slyzxx, on 07/02/2009, -6/+1.... i still have 3g phone i want out
- digitalruin, on 07/02/2009, -11/+5"Screw AT&T. Unlocking unleashes the phone's potential!"
Right, except no 3g support, no visual voice mail, and only one GSM band on T-Mobile. That's some awesome potential! - bigp3rm, on 07/02/2009, -7/+1Like any other wireless carrier is any better. They are all the same. Stop QQ'n
- syntaxgs, on 07/02/2009, -20/+1I,m sorry but this is Just as Bad as Piracy
this allow ppl too down load free application that SHOULD cost money but they get around it so it enable the piracy too happen

What is Digg?
