- svenjick, on 05/05/2009, -3/+16"Here's the Facts" ... here ARE the facts, anyone?
- OptionalPirate, on 05/05/2009, -5/+16***** Twitter.
- enevitable, on 05/05/2009, -1/+11Buying twitter right now would be akin to buying credit default swaps, no business model just a large liability.
- treas, on 05/05/2009, -1/+11First rule of business: have a business model
- gumballer, on 05/05/2009, -5/+11twitter is for twits
- Chooxo, on 05/05/2009, -0/+6I already was ignoring them.
- KevinMalone, on 05/05/2009, -0/+6Well, 'aight, check this out, dawg. First of all, you throwin' too many big words at me, and because I don't understand them, I'm gonna take 'em as disrespect. Watch your mouth and help me with the sale.
- Force88, on 05/05/2009, -3/+9What, did Jim Cramer start these rumors?
- brakzilla, on 05/05/2009, -0/+5Am I the only one that finds this lady's writing style incredibly annoying?
- urbanetruth, on 05/05/2009, -0/+5Yeah. That's pretty egregious grammar.
- BrendanSheehan, on 05/05/2009, -1/+5There is no reality, only perception.
- babychen, on 05/05/2009, -0/+4Written like an excellent Cosmo piece. 4 paras to come to the point, and moves on Beyonce immediately. Nice.
- TheMachine1, on 05/05/2009, -0/+4Most social media sites are the modern equivalent of the CB radio fad of the 70's.
- harlowsmonkeys, on 05/05/2009, -0/+4Apple likes to make money. No one has any clue how to make money with Twitter, so it seems unlikely Apple would be interested.
- RegalBegal, on 05/05/2009, -0/+3Fact: No one seriously gives a *****.
- algaeturd, on 05/05/2009, -0/+3Who cares...let it die. It'll be a laughing has-been in six months tops where people look back and say things like, 'I can't believe I was conceited enough to believe that everyone gives a ***** what I do on an hour-to-hour basis! My life is boring as *****!"
- joshmoney, on 05/05/2009, -0/+3There is no you, there is only me?
- inactive, on 05/05/2009, -1/+4LIE SPOON IS TOO CAKE!
- CoreyTamas, on 05/05/2009, -1/+4There is no Dana. Only Zuul.
- radiofrequency, on 05/05/2009, -0/+2facebook still has no business model, unless you count fleecing sucker investors a business model.
- radiofrequency, on 05/05/2009, -0/+2Twitter is worthless and perpetually unprofitable.
But more importantly, Kara Swiffer might as well be writing for the NY Times - she's THAT uninformed and THAT wrong THAT often. Swisher totally missed the basket, backboard and in fact the whole field on the Yahoo!-Microsoft merger, denying that they were in talks despite having a partner who is an "executive" at Yahoo! (sounds important and "connected", doesn't it?)
Her analysis are worthless, sophomoric, illogical, irrelevant and a complete waste of time. The fact writers with nothing to offer are given star status for their unqualified commenting, postulating, opining is merely another symptom of what's wrong with the news industry and the economy in general. Show some dignity and self-resepct and shut up already. Just because bay area real estate is so outrageously overpriced doesn't mean Swisher should whore herself out like this. It's embarassing.
Oh, and buried as spam. - specialK16, on 05/05/2009, -0/+2You know just like what happen to everyone buying CDS from AIG.
- inactive, on 05/05/2009, -1/+3Yep, that's exactly what it's akin to.
- inactive, on 05/05/2009, -1/+2Here're the Facts - plural people.
- Lightstab, on 05/05/2009, -2/+3Apple has also been rumored to buy Sun Microsystems, Adobe, EA Games, AMD, Pixar, Universal Music, Nintendo, Yahoo and PALM.
In other words, don't believe everything you read.
http://technologizer.com/2009/05/05/twapple-lets-r ... - somespecial, on 05/05/2009, -1/+2I have no idea why twitter doesn't put adsense on it. Why is it cool these days to yell out 'we have a website, and we make no money from it!' They "could be" feeding 1 million starving babies in Africa.
- mocomber, on 05/05/2009, -1/+2This just in - Apple deal falls through, Digg in "late-stage" negotiations to buy Twitter.
- RogerMcDodger, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1You have it completely backwards.
- treas, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1Yep, so many companies fail because they want money to keep them afloat.
- lolheks, on 05/05/2009, -1/+2twitter isn't a wise purchase. look what google did to youtube.
- CoreyTamas, on 05/05/2009, -5/+6First rule of business: Just because you personally think it's stupid doesn't mean that thousands and thousands of people won't spend money on it.
- SteveWiilliams, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1First of all, are these really the facts? Not particularly good grammar there, as some of you other observers have pointed out. Is there any hard evidence that Apple won't buy Twitter? Just because the rumours regarding Google buying Twitter fell through (and seemingly disappeared), it doesn't mean Apple won't.
I do see the point in Twitter, but only for some people. For example, keeping up to the latest news, or advertising your website/blog, can be a good way to use Twitter. At least, that's what I reckon. - proteus12, on 05/05/2009, -1/+2Twitter: Another overblown, useless service for people who think it's "cool" and "hip" to use. Filled with spammers, fake celebrities, and corporations who think people want to read their ads as status messages.
No revenue model, but it was started by people in the old boys club of dot com startups who succeeded early on, so it doesn't need one!
The media fawns over it, but the actual user base is tiny in comparison to useful services. It's another Second Life -- no matter how much the Associated Press writes about it, it's still a piece of crap. - kreatre2007, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1Stupid article. If she had left out Madonna and Beyonce, I would have cared more about what was said.
- covertbadger, on 05/06/2009, -0/+1"a powerful tool for brands and analysing the zeitgeist."
'Brand' and 'zeitgeist'. There's two good reasons why it's just a load of hot air that will soon blow over. It's a gimmick for fashion victims, who by their very nature are transient, vacant, and short of attention. - cbeach, on 05/06/2009, -0/+1Twitter search is "consciousness search" - a powerful tool for brands and analysing the zeitgeist. Like it or loathe it, Twitter has value to some, and is entertaining to many.
- inactive, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1Opps, I just farted and people are starring at me
-= Febreze® - Freshens Air, Eliminates Laundry & Home Odors =- - beesaretasty, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1I wish I could short Twitter.
- SquareWheel, on 05/05/2009, -1/+1"Just because you personally think it's stupid doesn't mean that thousands and thousands of people won't spend money on it." And thus Apple was born.
- inigomntoya, on 05/05/2009, -2/+1Second rule of business: define your target market.
- Lightstab, on 05/05/2009, -5/+4The Cake is a Lie!
- KevinMalone, on 05/05/2009, -3/+1Steve Jobs leaves and Apple goes to *****
- inactive, on 05/05/2009, -4/+1Facebook had no business model when they first came out. All the college students were using it but Facebook generated little to no revenue. Look at how great they're doing now!!!!
First rule of business: Don't think money first.
That's why so many companies fail. All they care about is making money right off the bat.
