With all due respect, Apple doesnt have a patent on the visible spectrum. And last time I checked, Apple wasnt the first company to use white or black on a laptop.

They win. Your money. - nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I think a more notable similarity is that they have the smooth look to them. The entire thing. When you look at a traditional notebook from the side it's not flat or smooth, it has edges and other things.
Apple's notebooks have a uniform sleek design from bottom to top to side. If other manufacturers are taking notes and putting out better looking products as a result, that's awesome. I don't find it sad at all. With the heat from the processor, I give the vinyl-veneer about 6 months before it peels and looks like one of those rust-bucket land yacht "woodside" station wagons from the 70s.

- theciuffo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm not sure which came first, so I'm just throwing this out there, but the powerbook g3 was black, wasn't it? Is this before or after the Thinkpad? I think Apple decided that since they weren't going to win back the market share by quality of product alone, they'd have to win with style (iPods anyone?) so they made their laptops and pcs colorful and pretty. They were pretty much the first to make computers beautiful, without Apple, I might have been typing this on a beige brick.
