- MrBlack08, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6...take note that not only does iPodLinux have to be installed on your ipod, you yourself have to execute the virus. so yes, proof-of-concept, but by no means practical or much or a way to be implemented on ipods without linux.
- dgblackout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5this is more FUD from AV companies, you have to install linux on the ipod, then run the virus. it's not exactly the most difficult to avoid, just don't install it.
- Cannon13, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Sensationalist title and description. How many people have Linux installed on their iPods? Give me a break.
Typical FUD from iPod haters. - Tobark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"It also has no payload, is rated by Kaspersky as unstable and difficult to run, and requires determined user interaction to do anything at all."
So someone tell me how the hell this is a virus?
Dugg down as lame. - pixelbender, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So this is like saying "WATCH OUT, your leg is going to BREAK!" when in reality I'd have to:
1) amputate my leg
2) get an artificial limb
3) replace its parts with known faulty bolts
4) break the leg. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Non-story.
Dugg down.
How many run linux on their ipod AND would be daft enough to let a virus on to it ?
Even kaspersky state its only proof-of-concept ! - willi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lamest story ever. how many actually has linux running on their ipod? And those who do are probably smart enough not to get their ipod infected.
- jlebrech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's not really a virus if you have to run it yourself.
Virii are supposed to propagate by themselves and not need user intervention otherwise they are called worms. - sgoogle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It "is rated by Kaspersky as unstable and difficult to run, and requires determined user interaction to do anything at all."
Sounds like it is trying to replace Linux with Windows - NoOneButMe, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1if it has a miccroprocessor, then it could probably get some sort of virus. Now, once a threat that affects the iPod firmware itself is found, then i'll show more then slight interest. But a virus that can affect linux? That's not anything new, even if it is rare.
What is Digg?
