- B08ama, on 07/09/2008, -2/+33Haha, even if the iPhone only has one camera, it'll have lots of eyes.
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -1/+17Well it's good for the environnement!
- GeorgeTuk, on 07/10/2008, -4/+19Dugg down for being yet more uninteresting stuff on the revised iPhone. Come on there must be more important news out there? Oh and its old too.
- Idrive, on 07/10/2008, -1/+13I love the Iphone but I'm filing this article under "Who The Hell Cares?"
- dmolavi, on 07/10/2008, -1/+13<arnold voice> It is not a tuber!! </arnold voice>
- allaboutdatiki, on 07/09/2008, -2/+13Bacon & Cheese with that ... or sour cream?
- Kerath, on 07/10/2008, -1/+12Good t ing food prices are so low that they use it for packaging.
- gl77, on 07/10/2008, -0/+9ummm they do have a "reply" feature so you can actually reply directly to certain comments.
- TheOther1, on 07/10/2008, -2/+10Doesn't matter. Clearly you don't understand. It's an article about the iphone! w00t!
/sarcasm - Claude1971, on 07/10/2008, -2/+10let's waterboard Steve Jobs
- Murdats, on 07/10/2008, -1/+7omfg the fanboi-ism around apple is ridiculous, do we really need to know the type of cardboard that the phones will the freighted in?
how about the price they paid for shipping, the name of the boats they were on, a picture of birds that landed on the boat that carried the boxes containing the iphones. - BOFH2, on 07/10/2008, -2/+8I can't wait for someone to post their un-boxing photos! That is the greatest, I mean who doesn't want someone to show us their new toy in a series of photos and commentary.
/sarcasm
I don't hate the Iphone I just don't like the un-boxing posts. - doctordbx, on 07/10/2008, -1/+5Holy who the ***** cares?
- atomicfox, on 07/10/2008, -1/+5Barenaked Ladies recent live DVD was released in the same sort of potato packaging.
- askantik, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4Cool that the packing is somewhat bio-degradable. I would say that the iPhone, however, will probably take 1,000 years to break down when it (most likely) ends up in a landfill, not to mention who knows what kind of lead, arsenic, mercury, etc. might be in it. But hey, at least the box is green, right?
- Rolamoto, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4Dugg for "Stupendabrick"
- MacParrot, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3@gl77
His name is as fitting as yours is meaningless. What's your point beyond just being unhappy about tech you won't buy and don't like? - Androfire, on 07/10/2008, -1/+3Hey, this ain't the potatoes I ordered....
- PPCG4, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Hmmm... world hunger crisis... and we are now fueling our cars with corn and packing our high-end shiny gadgets in potatoes...
- Sairynn, on 07/10/2008, -1/+3@gl77: You can't even get a first-gen iPhone anymore, so any issues with that model are pretty much irrelevant. The glass screen keeps it from scratching- would you prefer it had the same ***** plastic covering as an iPod screen?
- MacParrot, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Even as a Mac user, I'll be looking forward to when every other story on Digg isn't about the iPhone. Should take about another week
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Considering that Apple's got a horrible environmental record in regards to iPod production up to this point, anything is an improvement. Still - don't expect everyone to be too impressed until they've managed to make the fab process significantly greener.
- mpwoodruff, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Wow.
Who
Cares. - TheDeepFriar, on 07/10/2008, -2/+4do do do do do-do-do-do:
POTATO PHONE!!!! - Dgen_X, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Mmmmmmm green apple
- stjoad, on 07/10/2008, -1/+2sour cream plz
- Jenadae, on 07/10/2008, -7/+8Oh you mean like almost every other cell phone on the market? And you say over priced? Have you looked at other cellphones with the same capabilities they're all around the same price if not 1.5x the 3G iPhone. I'm by no parts a iPhone, hell i hate cell phones period but at least check your facts before being a ***** idiot.
- TotalDouche, on 07/10/2008, -3/+4You obviously don't own one.
- ConceptualTrap, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1That's exactly what I thought. So, he means that the iphone will be shipped in large paper sack?
- Rolamoto, on 07/10/2008, -2/+3@gl77 Yes, glass does shatter, but my iPod Touch has fallen on its screen multiple times from ~3.5' and (thankfully) the glass still hasn't broken. I assume the iPhone has the same glass.
- HA5TY, on 07/09/2008, -4/+5Wasn't this on the front page June 1st when the article was written?
- gl77, on 07/10/2008, -3/+4$600.00 for iPhone v1.0 dropped it down to $400.00 after a couple months of being on the market wasnt even that great of a phone. the ***** screen was made of glass. GLASS. who the ***** makes a cell phone screen made of ***** GLASS?? apple thats who. . and people paid for this. they lined up to basically throw away $600.00. no 3G when every other AT&T phone out there had 3G. and i cant recall exactly, but there were more things it surprisingly didnt have that most other phones came with standard at the time.
as i understand, they have dropped the price even further for the 2nd generation iphone, but there are still dozens of BETTER phones out there that are cheaper. - inactive, on 07/10/2008, -1/+2my iphone smells like tater tots.
- MacParrot, on 07/10/2008, -1/+2Recipe:
Ham cut into thin strips
1/2 onion diced
1/2 green pepper diced
1/2 red pepper diced
Andrew Dice Clay
4 eggs scrambled
Salt
Pepper
Just a touch of garlic powder
1 Packaging from an iPhone
In a medium skillet, add a little olive oil and toss in the onions/peppers. Saute until soft. Season with salt/pepper/garlic powder. Add in the scrambled eggs (water or milk to mix, your choice), and iPhone packaging. Cook until eggs are firm but not overdone. Throw out Andrew Dice Clay. Serves 4 - Niightwitch, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1" It is not a tuber!! " was funny, admit it.
- singletrack861, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1You forgot that this is Digg, the People magazine of social news.
This site started sucking a little over a year ago - just look at the comments above yours:
"do do do do do-do-do-do:
POTATO PHONE!!!!"
" It is not a tuber!! "
"Hey, this ain't the potatoes I ordered...." - migitalwarfare, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Pretty sure that says JULY 1, and the source article says JUNE 30
- Ethdawg, on 07/10/2008, -1/+2You're retarded. This has nothing to do with fanboism, this has to do with environmental conservation. Apple has a history of attempting to minimize ecological impact with the design of their packaging. Just look at the amount of styrofoam used when shipping a MacBook Pro or the tiny amount of cardboard used when shipping a MacBook Air. This 'potato packaging' is just another way to reduce waste. If you have to be an Apple fanboi to appreciate what they're doing, then I guess I'm a fanboi!
- stasis88, on 07/10/2008, -0/+0Stupid, who gives a *****??? Tons of things are made from potatos, paper plates, cups, packing peanuts... Big f'ing deal, its probably just cheaper...
- soyrex, on 07/19/2008, -0/+0hrm. the internet really is full of muppets.
- gl77, on 07/10/2008, -2/+2@Sairynn: glass screen keeps it from scratching? but obviously does not protect it against drops because i have seen some pretty shattered iphones out there.
the issues with 1st gen may be irrelevant because its off the market, but the 2nd gen. still carries a huge sticker price. we're talking value for your money here and iphone just doesnt have it. want more bang for your buck? dont get an iphone. - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -1/+1Sounds tasty to me!
- AntBing, on 07/10/2008, -5/+5Jealousy is ugly.
- MacParrot, on 07/10/2008, -2/+2To the point...funny...topical...and delves into mixing old bad movie quotes and odd vegatable names. I laughed and dugg up. You are to be commended and I wish I had thought of it first.
- MacParrot, on 07/10/2008, -1/+1Enjoy your fail
- gl77, on 07/10/2008, -8/+8yes thank you. my thoughts exactly. overpriced cell phone that isnt really that amazing. charge an outrageous fee for it and the fanbois will flock to buy it because it has the apple name attached to it. blind stupidity.
- derrrface, on 07/10/2008, -1/+1Ding! fries are done.
- zbeast, on 07/10/2008, -1/+1Ok that's stupid.. I like keeping my apple packaging...
now I have to throw it out... if this stuff gets wet or if its stored in an environment that has high
humidity... it's going to turn to slime. -
