- ileftfark, on 07/17/2009, -0/+46Feeling hungry? We found that getting some food, shoving it in our face-holes and swallowing it greatly reduces this feeling.
- carbonfilament, on 07/17/2009, -2/+44These articles are stupid. All the hints basically amount to shutting off the phone, or parts of it. Of course that's going to save power. Duh.
- Yankees368, on 07/17/2009, -0/+42BREAKING NEWS: NOT USING BATTERY INCREASES BATTERY LIFE. Full story at 11
- PlatinumOGKush, on 07/17/2009, -4/+29Nothing revolutionary here.
- Nyaos, on 07/17/2009, -1/+23It's quite remarkable, I was on 20% power and managed to play a game during a flight from New York to Minneapolis without the phone dieing, all I did was turn on airplane and dim the screen.
- mirunit, on 07/17/2009, -2/+21You mean use it as if its not a smartphone? What a stupid article. Apple should just put a 1500mah battery in it, seriously.
- lebruf, on 07/17/2009, -0/+19My wife bought me a Mophie juice pack and I've never had a dead phone since. One full charge on the pack will charge my phone from empty to full twice without any plugs or cords.
Not a free option, but a hell of a lot nicer than having to jump through all 22 hoops to eke out every last bit of energy.
Regardless, very useful info. - mattus, on 07/17/2009, -2/+20Surprise, surprise - I can make my battery last longer by using the phone less.
Next you'll be telling me that turning the phone off makes the battery last longer. Oh, wait - you did. - megaton, on 07/17/2009, -0/+17Agreed.
A more apt title would have been, "How to Make Your iPhone Battery Last for Days by Not Using Any of Its Features (or: Save Your Phone's Battery Life By Turning It Off)" - dinglebutt, on 07/17/2009, -3/+20Don't use it.
- privacypolicy, on 07/17/2009, -0/+16Summed up: Don't use it.
WTF? - novenator, on 07/17/2009, -2/+14yep, those 2 things can save a lot of juice.
- BorsKaegel, on 07/17/2009, -2/+11Plug it in.
- valentine76, on 07/18/2009, -0/+8stop insulting my intelligence, please.
- JoLanTru, on 07/17/2009, -0/+8This is the most pointless article. Why get an all in one phone?
- Mankind121, on 07/17/2009, -0/+8Pretty lame list. These sites are getting desperate with all these lists that point out the obvious
- inactive, on 07/18/2009, -0/+7Good tip. Better than this ***** article.
- pygmy, on 07/17/2009, -0/+7Running the iphone with the screen turned off works for me, the screen is a real battery hog.
- howdareyou, on 07/18/2009, -0/+7How to make your iPhone battery last for days
6. Don't make long calls
Or don't make any calls. Sounds like the stupid filler tip, but if you do make calls.
Really? Don't make any calls? That reminds me the "how to avoid a hangover" tip "Don't drink". What else can we apply this brilliant logic to. How to avoid STDs, don't have sex in the first place! - DPimp1262, on 07/17/2009, -1/+8How to make it last for days? Don't use it... why would I bother to make it last longer if I'm not doing the things I bought the phone to do in the first place?
- JasonCox, on 07/17/2009, -0/+6Last for days? You mean shut it off?
- Yarkz, on 07/18/2009, -1/+7Thanks man, I am no longer hungry.
- NealKasper, on 07/18/2009, -2/+7http://twitpic.com/aa7ho
Works for my boss...... - Arkanok, on 07/18/2009, -0/+5So to sum it all up ladies and gentlemen, they suggest to turn your fun, awesome device that you can't live without into a dull, useless paperweight.
Awesome advice, just awesome! Jackasses.... - skemez1, on 07/18/2009, -0/+5Hey check out this awesome paper weight with a 3 day battery life.... Its sooo amazing!!!!!!
- Black6x, on 07/18/2009, -0/+5Don't leave it in a Hot Pocket? That's one to add to the list:
Hot Pocket != food
Hot Pocket != iPhone storage device. - hiddencatch, on 07/18/2009, -0/+4Downgrade from 3.0 to 2.2.1
there's a very noticeable decrease in battery life in 3.0
Here's hoping 3.1 improves on it - spazzcat, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4So turn it off when not using it...well that wasn't very helpful
- arch3r, on 07/18/2009, -0/+4So, basically turn off all the features that make it an iPhone and not an iPod Touch. Got it.
- sahaskatta, on 07/18/2009, -0/+4turn it off?
- ileftfark, on 07/18/2009, -1/+5No problem. Just remember to not overdo it, Yarkz. In our intensive lab studies, we found that eating copious amounts of heavy foods may lead to a net gain in overall mass!
- DocDrea323, on 07/18/2009, -0/+4Anyone who knows their way around an iPhone knows enough of these probably to get them out of a sore spot. However, not everyone. When I was in New York City with my father, he was running low thanks to a number of work calls. I told him to turn off 3G. Worked wonders for him, but he didn't know that he could do it. Still had my step-mother carry around a USB cable/outlet adapter in her purse though, just in case.
However, here's what I wonder about iPhone battery life. I live in a rural area that's not covered by AT&T's 3G (Here's hoping that AT&T extends the 3G found down the highway my to my hometown. Who am I kidding though?). Similarly, I go to school in a much more rural area that barely has service (Once again, AT&T service fail. I'm switching to a different service when my contract is up). As I have an iPhone 3G, but am not in an area with 3G coverage, how much does having my iPhone's 3G turned on, but not connected to a 3G signal affect my battery life compared to turning off 3G in a 3G-less area? - nomoreink, on 07/18/2009, -0/+4Should be titled: 15 Things You Probably Already Know
- grindmygears, on 07/18/2009, -0/+4It doesn't last for days? I charge by Blackberry once a week but then I don't take it into the stall with me and play games...
- carbonfilament, on 07/18/2009, -0/+4a lot. if 3G is turned off the phone no longer searches for that type of signal. Also I think the 3G antennae is separate from the phone/edge antennae and requires separate power. I could be wrong about that last though...
- nbluth, on 07/17/2009, -2/+5Because a cellphone battery lasting a few days is a lot?
- puzzlesource, on 07/18/2009, -1/+4It's quite revolutionary in that you use it in ways it's not supposed to be used...for example
"6. Don't make long calls
Or don't make any calls. Sounds like the stupid filler tip, but if you do make calls (and you probably do, as that's almost certainly what you're conserving battery for), just keep 'em short."
Yes that's right, don't make any calls on your iPHONE... - jaytek13, on 07/18/2009, -0/+3Oh I know the answer to this one! Don't use it!
- xNerdCorex, on 07/18/2009, -1/+4in other words, don't use your iPhone
- mrBitch, on 07/18/2009, -0/+3@ ileftfark, RE: " .. Feeling hungry? We found that getting some food, shoving it in our face-holes and swallowing it greatly reduces this feeling."
Can you please post up an article on this? - geeko, on 07/18/2009, -1/+4I concur. I'd rather use the features on my phone that make my life more convenient and have to plug it in every day than brag about it lasting 3 days while never being benefited by it at all.
- Buckwyld, on 07/18/2009, -1/+4All the things you buy the Iphone you shouldn't use!
- joker2459, on 07/18/2009, -0/+3Whats the point of having an iphone if you arnt gonna do this stuff
- chickenloco, on 07/18/2009, -0/+3In other words... Don't do anything useful with it that it was designed to do
- mathyu21, on 07/18/2009, -0/+3so basically... just turn your phone off?
- devondenure, on 07/18/2009, -0/+3Why even turn your iPhone on....WHY EVEN TURN YOUR IPHONE ON, its like sky writing at night.
- riolio11, on 07/18/2009, -0/+3So you pretty much don't use it at all then...
- TwistedSilver, on 07/18/2009, -0/+3I can get through a whole day with GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, and PUSH notifications. All I did was just lower my screen brightness . . .
It's amazing how much extra life I can get with just a small swipe of a finger. - SoonerRoadie, on 07/18/2009, -0/+2FTA: "Seriously. Don't put your phone in the sun. Don't leave it in a hot pocket."
Why would I put my phone in a Hot Pocket to begin with? All that nasty meat would be impossible to get out of the dock connector. - sgvprelude, on 07/18/2009, -0/+2Turn it off and use it only when you need it.
