The mythbusters beat Grant's fingerprint scanner door lock that checks for pulse, sweat, and fingerprint with first a thin ballistics gel mold of the fingerprint applied on Adam's finger, and then they even beat it just by licking a photocopied image of Grant's fingerprint.
These biometrics security devices just give false sense of security, anyone that knows what they are doing could bypass them in seconds as the mythbusters crew did.

Not sure if any Samsung or Nokia phones have it... The fingerprinting idea sounds cool if it could work correctly, though; it'd be cool if sticking a hand in one's pocket and giving the phone the finger (so to speak) would switch to the next track.

- tmyprod, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1The fingerprint thing seems like a lot of work for a little pay off. I think it would both be faster and simpler just to use buttons, when is the last time you used more than your thumb and index finger of your dominant hand for the iphone or any touchscreen for that matter. It would be cool if you could use any iphone, press your finger down and bring up your iphone with all your contacts, setting, apps, etc. Your phone on ANY phone.

S'kinda like the old jailbreak app "pockettouch" which would blank the screen but still leave it open to commands when playing music from the ipod feature of my iphone-etc.

Yeah this seems like a neat feature for people too lazy to lock their phones. My girlfriend knows a few people who are constantly losing their phone (in bars, seriously, some are on thier 3rd phone), so finger print scanner seems like an obvious useless cool feature they could benefit from.

- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -7/+2Since your finger prints are often ALL over the iPhone, how hard would it be to lift a print off the phone, duplicate it and use that to enable the phone. Seems like a major hassle, but it seems like it could be easily bypassed using the right equipment. Sure you could say "Well the scanner will also detect heat from the print to make sure its a real human", well how the heck can it distinguish finger print heat from internal heat. The 3GS has a faster video and cpu, which is generating far more heat than the 3G or classic iPhone. I dont think the scanner would be able to accurately detect heat.
