- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Eh guys, those images were submitted a few times this week, they aren't from Apple.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Apple is. It's revenue growth vs last year was around 26% and Microsoft's was around 11%. These are rough numbers but Apple did indeed grow faster than Microsoft. Microsoft is a larger company though and therefore has a harder time growing.
- bmxboy661, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8fake, i think
unless someone can find the original source - WiseWeasel, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11I'd say just fun... Having been using OS X for the last six years (since public beta), I'd say that the "Wow" was officially in effect by 10.2 at the earliest, giving them at least four and a half years of "Wow". Add a bit of marketing hyperbole, and you've got yourself an ad campaign!
- jeffgtr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6They're fake for sure, still, they speak the truth
- DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+57of7, I think they are more concerned with selling more Macs and making money than how they figure in market share. They are selling more Macs than before even if their global market share is not improving by much. Only companies that believe their product is a commodity worries about market share.
I am an engineer at a company that manufactures a commodity product (hint, they drive on the road and are yellow) and I hate that my company forces us to cut corners in order to increase market share rather than providing the best possible product with the best quality parts and assembly processes. - jockser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4100% faketastic
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6i think it's fun, not to mention true.
- dcharti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Misleading - pics aren't from Apple.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So who is growing faster Apple or Microsoft
- DanielNielsen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Ahh come on, when the ***** will you all shut the ***** up about this Vista VS Os X *****. We all have our opinions on how we like things, and that fine. Some run windows cause thats what they like best, others like my self run Os X cause i found that suits me better.
Just pick what ever you like, dont make a ***** big deal out of it. - jthomp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow this is only like the 3rd time I've seen this same story on Digg. Wonder how many more times I'll see it today.
- Vermifax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did Mean Stevie hurt wittle Billy's feelin's....?
- netzdamon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Well even if there not from apple, IMO there not going to far. Hard to say something is going to far when it's a fact. Microsoft is almost always playing catch up in the last few years. Not I'm a Mac fan either. Before that is even mentioned.
- node3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not quite. They printed:
C:\ONGRTLNS.W95 - tafkase7en, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Honestly, I love Macs..but this is getting pathetic.
But if Ireland is right..then who cares! Thats funny! - DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"IMO there not going to far."
Uh huh. - javajunkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@node3
That was it! Good memory! :-) - dgh1973, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can't believe this is spreading...
First off, dupe from a couple hours ago...
Second these are hosted on imageshack, not tied to the apple website in any way. Even the vista one is on imageshack. That's a free image hosting site that anyone can upload files to.
Wake up and smell the coffee people, unless they are linked to an apple/MS site somehow these are probably hoaxes. - wastern, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3What I thought was funny about the "Wow starts now" tag line for Vista is that in the OS X State of the Union from WWDC last year they talked about the progression of the GUI and it has come to the point where you needed to "Wow" people.
Microsoft even stole from Apple to come up with their tag line - javajunkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone remember when MS released Windows95, and enabled 255-character mixed-case long filenames for the general consumer (not the NT crowd).
Apple published this in newspapers (true):
CONGRATS.W95 - mphill17, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2how does this crap even make the front page?
- dharh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's awesome because its totally true. The "WOW" was 5 years ago. Windows finally caught up, at least to what the "WOW" was 5 years ago.
...
I use windows, OSX, and linux equally so shut up. - Trams, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's a bit too far for me. I like the more subtle Microsoft jabs coming from Apple. This kind of blatant statement is bordering on childish. - - Although it is a very true statement, some things are better left unsaid.
- cowabuse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0High five Apple.
- dazzaroonie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In another article on Digg someone suggests that if you open the image file in a text editor then it becomes obvious that photoshop was used to create the image. How this proves it is a fake I'm not too sure ... but hey ho.
Respect to the people who think these things up. Apple or no, it raised a smile. - spiffyfitz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1That's evidence to support the iPod halo effect.
- Me1000, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6I think you wrong,
I think they are pissed off that a company as big as M$ has to steal ideas from them! - daduhmainee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0My God! This sh*t annoys me. Im an Apple fan, but some of the other take it a bit too far. Apple did not release that ad.
- mjpwall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0these images have been shown way too many times this week on digg already, can no one find original material for their blogs?
- DWRoelands, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0*gasp* Smug condescension from Apple zealots? Surely not! ;)
- Giga, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I went back...
- bradallen18, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1that picture is just plain awesome.
- KingLeo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3I really liked XP when I was a PC user. Then I was introduced to OSX and.. well, you know what they say - once you go Mac... you don't go back ;)
- ebytes, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1I'm guessing you're going to get buried...
- 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -16/+4I still don't think the second picture is real, but it's clear that Apple is afraid their tiny market share is going to get even smaller.
- steve23063, on 10/12/2007, -17/+4I agree with apple's ad... 5 years ago with WINDOWS XP
