- kodek, on 10/12/2007, -4/+36"i have the full range of human reactions."
You mean, denial, anger, anger, anger, hanukkah, acceptance and denial? - RedGiant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18This is the best I could find next to the Nano.

http://www.ilounge.com/assets/images/reviews_apple/ipodnano2g/11.jpg - goat77, on 10/12/2007, -13/+31I say the original looked a hell of a lot better.
- swany1012, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Would be cooler if they showed a 1G nano right next to it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15The Thin iPod Mini.
- monkeybutler, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14If you want my opniion then please repeat that statement but replace "mini" with "nano" and "nano" with "mini" and end it with "awesome".
- cdguy210, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8iPods work with both Macs & PCs, SanDisk doesn't ... any questions?
- Wingnut233, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I'm not entirely sure why people are complaining about the redesign. As mentioned earlier, the mini sold very well for Apple. Personally, I'd rather have a durable media player that will survive the abuses of daily life, and fits nicely in my pocket. It doesn't really matter to me if it has the smooth edges of the G1 Nano or big brother iPod.
- Wingnut233, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I agree, I've been holding off on getting a Nano because of the scratch issues, and this is exactly what I've been waiting for. I know I'll be putting an order in for an aluminum 4gb model, as soon as Apple makes it available in Canada.
- emorphien, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8i bet black was the most popular nano color, so they cleverly make the most expensive one black... so everyone will think the new black one is the swankyest and just "have" to spend $250 on it even if they didn't want the 8gb.
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10your username gives me the same impression
- emorphien, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10I agree. I liked the old nano style better.
- ZapWizard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I predict that next year they will look the same, only be half as tall.
It looks rather tall in perportion to the screen and wheel. - corneliousjd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6archos producs are HORRID
- quamb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8"damn am sick of seeing Apple news on digg... oh no, I can't resist... aaah I'm reading the article... ah crap now I'm replyin to the comments!!"
seriously. if you don't like it, get out. - klang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4well, in a way, the iPod mini has been brought back from the dead with this new nano.
- emorphien, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9And to me it's nicer looking. It's good apple upped the capacities, but I personally find the SanDisk a better product. It'll sell though, that's for sure. When have iPods not sold?
- boozedrinker, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Why is everyone so unpleasable? You are the minority - rememer that the Nano and Mini were the best selling iPods, and this is the best of both worlds. So much for pleasing everyone.
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7the people who whine about scratches on their ipod are the same people kind of people who whine about breaking their ***** nails
- threepio, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Yeah, that SanDisk's a real looker. It's a pity the software can't hold a candle to iTunes.
- boozedrinker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Okay - go apply to Apple, and design the perfect outer coating....... comfortable for the ones that liked the old Nano, and without the scratches. Good luck trying to please everyone - Apple tries its best (and might I add *GASP suceeds in having a HUGE market share)
- Chrysalid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Having tried iPod Mini, I say that the aluminium thing feels less comfortable than the plastic cover. Even with the scratches. I have a white 4GB iPod Nano.
- klang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3a null isue. Most people have either a mac or a windows-pc. SanDisk doesn't work with iTunes, which is much more important, if you have ever owned an iPod or if you just have iTunes installed (it IS a good jukebox program)
- boozedrinker, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9For all of you idiots that liked the old Nano I say this - you are probably the same ones that complained about scratches.....WAKE UP! You won't get scratches here.....and can you blame Apple for combining the best of bot worlds - the mini was afterall the best seller. I swear, you people will find something to complain about every single time.
- Ubermensch423, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Its not a clone of the mini! It has the same material on the outside, yes. But it is much smaller than the mini and has the same shape and size as the first generation nano, thus it is a nano. The selling point of the nano is its size, thus its name nano, and the new design does nothing to contradict this selling point or its name.
- pintomp3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4silly xian, don't disrupt the apple lovefest with your spam.
- Chrysalid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Great, another fanboy post. This article was about Apple, so could you please not go offtopic? It isn't very charming to have all these articles escalate into 200-comment flamewars.
- emorphien, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5wait, you want an article about apple to stay on topic when articles about apple's competitors always somehow wind up being apple discussions?
psshaw - maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -4/+78gb only in black? thats a nice slap in the face to all their customers.
- t3hX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3And also the same people as those that put their nano in their jeans pocket with car keys and change, and no carrying case.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'd actually been waiting to buy a Nano because I was hoping the next generation of Nano would support video. I ran out yesterday and bought a white Nano as soon as I saw that godawful brushed aluminum atrocity on the Apple site. It's amazing to me that they hit such a home run with the aesthetics of the Nano right out of the gate and then went right back to the abortion that was the Mini.
- thewaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it looks like there might be a hold switch from this view, but its probably all white on white
http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.engadget.com/media/2006/09/dsc_1054.jpg - shockingbird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dear Engadget: Buy a good digital camera. That is all.
- boozedrinker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Funny thing is, even though these won't scratch easily at all, cases and protective outer shells will sell like hotcakes.
- thewaz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"the black seems really resilient"
how did you decide that? by looking at it? - Ubermensch423, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I understand watching video on the regular ipod, but why would you want to watch it on the extremely small screen of a nano? not to mention the hard disk size of the nano wouldnt allow for many videos to be stored.
- emorphien, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5"thinking that anything and everything that holds an Apple logo the people will buy!"
It's been working so far, just look at digg! - zydeco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Right. Because we all know car keys can't scratch aluminum. Especially colored, anodized aluminum. That won't show scratches at all.
- klang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Glass is not a good option .. it breaks easily
- MrCobaltBlue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Why would you spend $250 on a black 8gb Nano when you can get a black 30gb Normal iPod for the same price?
I wonder if these will snap in your pocket as well? - isayx3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The new Nano accessories are not compatible with the old...so now everyone has to buy new adapters for the iPod docks and speakers...and forget about using any old Nano accessories with the new one. Why can't apple design the New Nano so it is compatible with old nano (which has been out less than a year)?
- Bumpoh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1how much does that actually matter??
- mandi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have one of the old iPod Nanos (2gb). I have mixed feelings on the new ones -- but I do love that they're aluminum for the durability (my 1G is definitely pretty scratched up). As others have mentioned, I wish the 8gb came in all the colors rather than just black.
I decided to wait to decide on upgrading mine, but instead ordered a blue 4gb for my fiance's college graduation gift. I'm really anxious to see how he likes it! (It will be his first iPod or mp3 player of any type.) - NeoRicen, on 10/12/2007, -11/+12I hate this new nano, I hated the mini and loved the nano, now they just made the nano look like the mini... yuck.
- boozedrinker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I think the white is blown-out - these aren't the best pics in the world.
- ydt89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For all yallz who dont like the nano design, get over it. If you don't like it then just don't buy it.... Its not like there really any other significant differnces (besides the casing) beetween the old and the new.
- noeljohnhoward, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i think scratches would be alot less apparent
- yensed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I just hope the screen doesnt scratch so easy. I wish Apple would make the outer-screen glass.
- spiffyfitz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I welcome the fresh new look, it's just a shame there won't be a mirrored back. It's like the mini, only not stubby and fat. Also, for people who complain about 1g nanos scratching... I've had my 1st gen nano for 5 months wrapped in an InvisibleShield, no scratches, no problem.
