- DansFloyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5To answer everyones questions... When you install iPod Linux, it dosnt write over the Apple Firmware, but instead makes a dual boot system. So you can boot into Linux OR Apple Firmware... and yes, you can play all music files like mp3, wav, aac, plus ogg, and Flac(but youll need to do more stuff for flac). Its Very Safe, as long as you know what your doing and you do it correctly(worst that will happen is youll loose your music)... Yes you can remove it. Yes it can play music... just not very well in Linux. But again, you can still boot into your Apple Firmwara and still Listen to music with it. Id Highly recommend trying out iPod Linux!

- DansFloyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can play videos on all iPods, that includes. 1st Gen, 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen, 4th Gen, 1st and 2nd gen Minis, and Photos(dont know about the new iPod Color). The Nano is still in process of being 'hacked'. and the shuffle... dont ask...

Now if they had video out, and a nice decoders in (divx,xvid,mpg4 etc) that would rock.. you could bring your legal downloaded shows (hehehe) over to your friends plug in the video out and play it back.. :) I have a psp and it has a pretty big screen, imagine your ipod looking so big?
- CELTICDEMON, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0iPoos suck, well besides the nano their is way better mp3 players out there, it doesnt even have ogg support and AAC is terrible. I've been playin videos on my iRiver H320 for almost a year and have had a color screen better than the iPods.
