- Bukowsky, on 09/15/2009, -17/+50You definitely can't knock the success of Steve Jobs... whether he's a hustler or just a demanding prick, he's obviously doing something right. And in the world of business, that's all that matters.
- manjar, on 09/16/2009, -3/+25Someone's been watching too much "The Apprentice". In the "real" reality, lots of things matter in business, and lots of people (though maybe not enough) fail for being pricks.
- Lightstab, on 09/16/2009, -3/+22I like the last line in the video. The stuff about Steve and Woz. Without an engineer like Woz, Apple would have never shipped. Without a sales guy like Steve, Apple would have never sold. I'm paraphrasing of course.
- Awwzm, on 09/16/2009, -1/+18Guy Kawasaki - I think with a name like that, he could be a hustler as well.
Hellooo ladies. Guy Kawasaki has arrived. - inactive, on 09/16/2009, -3/+12Yeah because bandwidth and camera guys grow on trees.
- plainOldFool, on 09/16/2009, -0/+9Greater Than > Less Than
- kinologik, on 09/16/2009, -4/+13There is a little something called ethics. And ethics works in all sphere of life, business or personal. No walls, no categorization, no rationalization. If you want to do things the Boomer's way, well ***** ethics. But GenX and Y are more sensible to this. And talented people usually don't take ***** from their boss, unless they feel they deserve it.
I have and iPhone, but I give credit to Jonathan Ive and the UI team for it.
I love Pixar movies, but I give credit to John Lasseter (or Brad Bird, or Andrew Stanton, etc.) for it
Jobs is to Apple what Ronald is McDonald's. I will never give credit to a douche, even if he somehow got lucky in life.
I agree Jobs can be entertaining at time, though. - Awwzm, on 09/16/2009, -3/+12You're gonna need to start getting used to that.
- sirjimithy, on 09/16/2009, -1/+9Calvin > Hobbes
- shutaro, on 09/15/2009, -2/+10Nope... He's a Robot.
- Breenn, on 09/16/2009, -1/+9I think being a decent person matters in a moral sense. Sure - business is a world where the dollar sign is the bottom line. However, I'd rather live in a world where we can talk about things like Ethical Capitalism. Where morality and business ventures aren't exclusive from each other.
Maybe I'm old fashioned to care to care about silly subjective things like decency. - inactive, on 09/16/2009, -0/+7He did, read his bio.
- nenitiko, on 09/16/2009, -0/+7Exactly his point.
- sirjimithy, on 09/16/2009, -1/+7Swallow a dick.
- Pinkertinkle, on 09/16/2009, -1/+6Is this news to anyone?
- burnt1ce85, on 09/16/2009, -3/+8I would hate to work for Apple but i love their products.
- skidooer, on 09/16/2009, -2/+7Protip: Nobody buys Macs for the hardware.
- rypic7, on 09/16/2009, -4/+9Woz > Jobbs
- KIERANMULLEN, on 09/16/2009, -0/+4Wasn't he a so called Apple Evangelist for quite some time? Don't know if it paid. Perhaps he got speaking gigs.
- burnt1ce85, on 09/16/2009, -8/+11That's easy to say when you dont work for an ***** manager like steve jobs. just because someone works for you doesn't mean they can treat unfairly to you.
- T3hJ3hu, on 09/16/2009, -5/+8Steve Wozniak is my hero.
- sirjimithy, on 09/16/2009, -5/+8That are not good Englishes.
- FutureGuy, on 09/16/2009, -1/+4Not all successful companies are run by "hustler or demanding pricks"
- mmijatov, on 09/16/2009, -1/+4"Jobs is to Apple what Ronald is McDonald's"
That was an awesome quote sir. - jocamero, on 09/16/2009, -0/+3Adblock Plus
- jrm125, on 09/16/2009, -2/+5This guy has his dick so far up Steve's ass it's incredible...
Anyone watch that documentary "Welcome to Macintosh"? He practically splooges from being so giddy during the interview when he gets to talk about Jobs. - FaceFuker, on 09/16/2009, -0/+2iRobot
- sudowrestler, on 09/16/2009, -0/+2Watch the clip, note the use of the term "hustler" in its context, and you'll have observed a prime example of the typical Digg headline-writing process in action.
- HonoredMule, on 09/16/2009, -0/+2No we're not.
Do not need, do not want, won't partake. - fragmit, on 09/16/2009, -2/+4Shouldn't you be in school?
- damonic, on 09/16/2009, -0/+2I think you might be on to something here. Perhaps, it wasn't his liver that got replaced after all!
- PsychoDaaad, on 09/16/2009, -1/+3I saw it. He is one of the biggest douche bags i have ever seen. He wants Steve jobs dick in and around his mouth.
- azurite, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1Steve's rollin' with the New Jack crew.
And he's a hustler. - ultimusgt, on 09/16/2009, -4/+5Aren't all business men hustlers
they have to be - stuffradio, on 09/16/2009, -5/+6Gates > Jobs
- whiteyMcBrown, on 10/12/2009, -0/+1I like that people are giving management tips to the man who runs Apple, made the walkman of this decade, the largest music retailer in the world, the fastest up and coming cell phone manufacturer in the world (3rd or 4th largest in 2 years?), bought Pixar for $10 million and sold for $4 Billion, i think. And now Disney's largest share holder. I probably missed a few things, but I'm sure you guys know better though.
- inactive, on 09/16/2009, -1/+2yeah who cares about ethics this isnt the middle ages
/s - TheBifman, on 09/16/2009, -1/+2When in Rome
- ineversleep, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1Yes it does. Don't like it? Find a new job. He wants the best and if you can't give it, GTFO. Employers have rights, dreams, and goals too you know. That's why they start businesses. They choose to let you along for the ride and compensate you.
- solarsavior, on 09/16/2009, -1/+2I was fortunate to see him speak at the recent Cisco Live! 2009 conference. He presented many of the lessons that he learned over the years. One of those lessons was “Let a hundred flowers blossom" that he learned while he was at Apple. Apple needs to learn from this.
Here he is speaking to Microsoft - The video will explain it all.
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/895980/guy_kawasaki_ ...
Apple needs to learn this lesson. Apple should NOT be preventing applications from being installed on the iPhone. Apple should see what the customers are doing with its devices and run with it. Take the money! - angrycat, on 09/16/2009, -1/+2EVERYDAY IM HUSTLIN
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRgXu65oqso - jbella, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1Being a tyrant is obviously not enough to "get the best out of people" because being demanding and scary is incredibly easy to do.
Unless you think Steve is one of those guys who is just extremely lucky... you have to concede that he does have other skills apart from being scary. - gakboi, on 09/18/2009, -0/+1glug glug glug.. apple's marketing bs tastes great! Superior hardware quality to what? you can make a pc with the same spec. OS is good but also BS because they buy up companies like Logic and then make sure that the software gets developed on mac's for mac's with no pc support. Basically removing choice from the equation for many creative professionals. The only thing which I would say mac beat everybody by is the quality of their displays. Everything else is BS. I've used hackintoshes which work exactly the same as my mac.... and cost less than half to build (even if you include the cost of buying OSX)..
- raptorlightning, on 09/16/2009, -0/+1Corporate America, Training people to be more and more animalistic, and destroying our chances at a better future, through greed, arrogance, and egos -- every day.™
- jbella, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1But I wouldn't be surprised to learn that a disproportionate number of them are run by jerks.. or at least type 'A' personalities.
- marinist, on 09/16/2009, -0/+1"He does get the best out of you, I think, because people fear him."
Well, some CEOs try to run things this way, but fear _never_ gets the best out of people.
If the CEO is a demanding, overbearing dick...you might survive for a while, but the stress will kill you.
Who here works at Apple--does Jobs keep people on edge? Been there, done that...it sucks big time. - HaSatan, on 09/16/2009, -4/+4"Im a hustler baby..
i just want you to know
it aint where ive been
but where im bout' to go..
now i just wanna love ya
but be who i am..
and with all this cash
you'll forget yo man"
-Steve Jobs - Cojafoji, on 09/16/2009, -1/+1Business is about having good product and a decent reputation. Most people can see through the thin veneers of slick fast talking business men.
