- Rikushix, on 11/29/2007, -1/+40I really hope this is sarcasm...for your sake.
- XXXXXXXXXXXXXX, on 11/29/2007, -2/+32and what's wrong with playing excel?
- gulpy, on 11/29/2007, -2/+26Mooseontheloose,
You watch way too many Mac vs PC commercials. - inactive, on 11/29/2007, -2/+26You sir will look like an absolute badass standing in front of your little computer desk rocking out to your monitor. I, on the other hand, have been doing so on a TV in my living room on my Xbox 360. I have not, however, figured out how to open spreadsheets on it. Help?
- IndigoMoss, on 11/29/2007, -0/+20I don't know guys, you might be pretty disappointed with the performance of it. Aspyr ported the Windows versions too, and it was very poorly optimized. Here's my system specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo e6300 @3.2 Ghz
2GB of DDR2-800 @1066
Geforce 7900GS OC'd @ 600/1600
2X 320GB Seagate .10 + 1x 500 Seagate .10
It doesn't run very well at all, it's playable, but it does give some lag when hitting the keys. My system can play COD4, Bioshock, and Dirt @1280x720 very nicely, but Guitar Hero lags. Hopefully you guys don't get as ***** as a port as we got. - sKiLLa182, on 11/29/2007, -3/+18Hope it doesn't have mono sound.
- Seidoger, on 11/29/2007, -1/+13how the heck does so many people ask this question so much?
- HolyChimp, on 11/29/2007, -0/+11I remember that little hidden game excel had back in the day. The fun of flying around in IT lessons.
- aeiou, on 11/29/2007, -11/+21yes.
- DAaaMan64, on 11/29/2007, -1/+10you can vote on stuff now?
- rstarr, on 11/29/2007, -1/+9It's Aspyr, it will probably be crap too.
- cgruber, on 11/29/2007, -2/+10Too bad Aspyr is still aspiring to provide a decent port of ANY game.
- juicebag, on 11/29/2007, -0/+8You play Guitar Hero for the graphics?
- hydroplane, on 11/29/2007, -11/+18A poser's dream come true
- scyon, on 11/29/2007, -1/+7god, next you're going to try to get people who play halo to join the army.
- BabyWookie, on 11/29/2007, -1/+7I already have the PC version installed on my MacBook Pro via BootCamp XP. I hook it up to my big-screen TV and use the 360 Explorer USB guitar to play it. In order to get it to run decently at 1280x720, I had to overclock the old X1600 Mobile, set the graphics to low and turn off the crowds and physics. This is one of those games that pretty much needs to run at as close to 60 fps as possible, or it looks jerky. Aspyr did do a pretty crappy job optimizing its performance.
- stellarceltic, on 11/29/2007, -1/+7Mark... don't be such a Dyke, Man.
it's a digg... not a vote... - petdance, on 11/29/2007, -2/+8The problem with "Music Group" is that you have to schedule it with other people, you can't control the volume, and the other players can often be dicks.
- stalefries, on 11/29/2007, -0/+6Because games ported by Aspyr suck.
- juicebag, on 11/29/2007, -0/+6Too bad it takes years of practice.
- inactive, on 11/29/2007, -1/+6Uh...
It's available for Windows... - IndigoMoss, on 11/29/2007, -0/+5I'm really hope Aspyr really sees the error of their ways and releases a good port for you guys with a Mac, after playing GH3 on PC, I feel sorry for you guys playing the Aspyr ports to the Mac. Luckly, this was my first and only experience with them. Ehh, at least I can use the guitar for Frets on Fire.
- yaazz, on 11/29/2007, -1/+6I remember reading this on their website a while back. Unfortunately, you need a really freakin awesome mac to play the game. I have a Core2Duo macbook regular, and it wasn't good enough to run the game. Why not tone the graphics down to respectable levels (Even the ps2 and Wii have better graphics than the game needs to be honest), and let me play the game too?
- xXMetalJesusXx, on 11/29/2007, -2/+6The PC version is horrible. Frame Rate issues, laggy USB controller makes expert songs impossible...I hope they fixed them for the Mac version. I'd love to play it on my ibook at school...lol.
But I won't care too much if I have to settle for just playing on my 360. - Vetteguy182, on 11/29/2007, -3/+7Frets on Fire...look it up :D
- madk, on 11/29/2007, -0/+4maybe.
- elamenop, on 11/29/2007, -3/+7uuuuh are you kidding me? this is ***** awesome, finally we get some games on the mac! why is everyone complaining anyways???
- RockinRoel, on 11/29/2007, -0/+3Yeah, they scrapped the easter egg, Excel isn't fun anymore.
Probably the developers made it and the boss found out eventually. - Ndiggnation, on 11/29/2007, -4/+7That's how I wanna spend game night with friends...around a computer monitor. Rock on..
- codyman, on 11/29/2007, -1/+4Is Fleetwood Mac sponsoring this...
- DoTheFandango, on 11/29/2007, -4/+7Because MacBooks have ***** graphics cards?
- bunger, on 11/29/2007, -1/+4Spare me. Aspyr has started releasing 'ports' that are nothing more than Cider wrapped around the Windows version (Command and Conquer 3 comes to mind). Then they'll sell them for an outrageous price and you get stuck with a really, really ***** performing application that sucks RAM like nobody's business.
Aspyr can suck it. I will never buy a game from them. - icemarsh, on 11/29/2007, -0/+3I just tested my PS3 GH3 Les Paul guitar on the Mac and it works with USB overdrive. So I'm going to assume that it'll work with the mac version of GH3. However I also assumed that the same controller would work with Rock Band...
- Xplorer, on 11/29/2007, -0/+3Wasn't that the plan all along?
- MaxPayne3476, on 11/29/2007, -0/+3It is when it's on the wall right above your tub.
[how many of you just checked the names to see if it was the same person?] - inactive, on 11/29/2007, -0/+2http://digg.ccm/how
- Velirno, on 11/29/2007, -2/+4It's not so much the good graphics of Guitar Hero, but the horrid interface of FoF. With how long it's been out you'd think it would look as polished as Stepmania. Oh and Guitar Hero just feels better to play, FoF feels kind of awkward every time I try it.
- rollerxpig, on 11/29/2007, -2/+4You can't just look it up? It's been ported for awhile. I still don't like the fact that they use Cider instead of just coding it for the Mac. I couldn't run Need for Speed: Carbon on my new MacBook Pro.
- BradFive, on 11/29/2007, -0/+2It'd be nice if they released the PC version in Australia while they're at it.
- Shootfast, on 11/29/2007, -0/+2ctrl g - x97:l97 - ctrl shift graphing button. Man I loved that too
- BradFive, on 11/30/2007, -0/+2I see what you did there.
- nicko68, on 11/29/2007, -0/+2And is it really fun playing "Sweet Child O' Mine" by yourself in your basement without any musical accompaniment?
- sambapati87, on 11/30/2007, -0/+2Those requirements are steep for god damn dots scrolling up the screen. Ridiculous.
- Phil8, on 11/29/2007, -0/+2Mine lags as well.
What I did to fix it was calibrate the video lag to about 60ms. It might be different for you. I also have it running in 800X600 resolution with low details and crowd/physics off. - madk, on 11/29/2007, -0/+2Putting Mac in your title boosts your diggs by 100.
- petdance, on 11/29/2007, -0/+2There would be more if there were more to choose from. And if C&C 3 didn't require a different chipset than I have in my Macbook.
- bunger, on 11/29/2007, -0/+1I don't know about you, but my copy is definitely 'ciderized'. Whether it was Aspyr (which does this too) or EA, same crappy wrapper.
- RockinRoel, on 11/29/2007, -1/+2Switchers care about the future of mac gaming... Come on, Starcraft 2! I want you now!
- Raptor007, on 11/30/2007, -0/+1To be honest, I'm a die-hard Mac fan who no longer cares about Mac gaming.
Mac OS X is a wonderful OS for everything but games. The UI takes great advantage of the video card, which is wonderful... except for games. Since Mac OS X uses a cleverly designed system of encapsulation, games have to follow the same rules as other programs. They don't take over the video card, they simply request a viewport in it, and have to follow the same rules of any other window: scaling for Expose, etc.
Game performance is severely impaired by the Mac OS X system of encapsulation, so I use a Windows PC for games. Mac OS 9 was actually a wonderful gaming OS; if I could run it on my G5 and get all the latest games for it, that's how I'd play games. But really, Windows is the best way to play games these days, much as I hate that OS for doing anything else. - Raptor007, on 11/30/2007, -0/+1Hey, it's not the size of the screen, it's how you use it, right?
