- AngryGoldfish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you'd have thought they'd make the screen golden to... or is it?
- leonbev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Interesting... But the Video iPod also seems to look a little "fat" in that picture as well. Maybe it's just the bigger screen that does it, but the older 4th generation iPods were prettier looking.
- coolfrood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What about the nano, that isn't the golden ratio. Doesn't that make it "too tall" like the iRiver? Doesn't that make it "ugly" too?
- scarybunnyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0^^^
someone needs to calm down - scarybunnyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Rather... one ABOVE one Above ^^^^
- bex00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i must be missing something - the three photos lined up all look the same size to me, i guess i don't have any design sense
- techmonk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome.
- rhnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"(that’s why widescreen TV is 16:10)"
16:10? - t3hX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@vesperDEM
>joint development efforts? FANBOY!
Could you possibly get any stupider? - dknighton, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I'm getting so sick of the "iPods rule, everything else sux" crowd. I'd like to give you all a "Golden Shower" right about now.
- sneakerelph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah.... i never really liked the nano... it seems too tall. the bottom sticks out too much from the click wheel.
- dementia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone who is calling this a fanboy site or article clearly didn't look at any other page there.
That being said, this article is stupid and boring and offers very little real insight. - number8888, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Golden ratio (or the "Divine Proportion" made famous by The DaVinci Code) is indeed a very real number in mathematics especially geometry.
However since the proportion is not exact I doubt that the iPod designers intended to use PHI. Besides just look at the Mini or Nano. They are not even close to it. - styryx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Apple certainly have the midas touch at the moment. And yes microsith stole windows from Apple who stole it from someone else. I'm sure ms will release an mp3 player exactly the ratio of PHI to 100 decimal places, as all they do is jump on bandwagons rather than innovating.
Anyway, good for Apple, nice touch, doesn't really mean ***** though! - Warptera, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The reason for story isn't to glorify the iPod, it's just to show what kind of details the designers put into it and show us an interesting fact. Sheesh, calling us fanboys just because we find it interesting isn't getting you anywhere.
- ra3ndy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"And yes microsith stole windows from Apple who stole it from someone else"
True, Apple stole it from their own joint development efforts with Xerox. Oh wait, that's not stealing at all...oops. - ra3ndy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"The Golden ratio (or the "Divine Proportion" made famous by The DaVinci Code) is indeed a very real number in mathematics especially geometry. "
I'm sorry...but the Golden Ratio was not "made famous" by the Da Vinci Code. Perhaps YOU found out about it when you read the Da Vinci Code. It's been "famous" in most aspects of good architecture and design for the last 2 or 3 millenia. - AttroPheed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A new theory I've worked out which I'm calling the "digg.com golden ratio" is having any combination of the words "iPod" "Apple" "Mac" or "Steve Jobs" in the title of your story.
Anyway, +lame. - VesperDEM, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Joint development efforts"? Fanboys!
- fnot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0yeah, he really ***** up on the widescreen ratio, it's 16:9=1.77... which is waaaaayyy off 1.618 :)
The golden ratio is closer to 8:5 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I frickin hate that stupid ratio... It's fake!!!!!
- Chicken, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Wow. What the ***** is this guy talking about "no mistake" ***** that *****. Total bullocks.
- Vladk1000, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0This makes no sense...
