- pxa270, on 11/02/2007, -1/+24I thought the 17 page Ars technica review was the definitive review.
I was wrong.
This is the only review I need:

Microsoft don't own a hardware platform and Apple allow Windows to run on macs. - inactive, on 10/31/2007, -1/+6"The box is heavy in my hands." hilarious.
- JuStein, on 10/31/2007, -2/+7I'm looking forward to upgrading to Leopard, however i use Adobe creative suite and FCP heavily so i think i'll wait for a few dot's to come out after the initial version.
- andregriffin, on 10/30/2007, -0/+4You should stop having more than one apple story open in tabs at once. You seem to get too excited and post in the wrong one.
http://digg.com/gadgets/The_ONLY_Black_iPhone_in_t ... - MacParrot, on 10/31/2007, -0/+3Can we please get over Vista bashing? It's all been said before and for the most part doesn't belong in a discussion about Leopard unless it's a feature comparison.
- toxicityj, on 10/31/2007, -6/+9guess he couldn't help making a meaningless jab at Vista at the end..
- KloroFormd, on 10/31/2007, -7/+9IMO, it deserves all the jabs people give it.
- moofer, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2It's a penned up result of years of Mac bashing. You're going to have to get used to it. If you don't like it, write to Ballmer and suggest he do something about it - like put out better code.
- joeconway, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3absolutely brilliant
- senhsaelee, on 10/31/2007, -2/+3I find Spaces and Coverflow across the board to be truly great. It essentially turns my 20" i Mac into an 80" Imac. No more pushing and pulling windows to fit to the page. I can leave Garageband full screen on one Space, Safari and Mail and Address book in another, iTunes and other music/media on another. Expose was great in Tiger but Spaces combined with it...ah man, it's so fluid. This makes OSX the premier operating system for anybody in the creative industry. Business users, stick with your Excel and Word files. The graphics in Cover flow is amazing. It renders stuff so you're beyond looking for file names. Even my Garageband files in cover flow show all the tracks...how the heck did they do that. It makes using the mighty mouse even more enjoyable.
However, I found stacks fanning to be a little annoying (the thumbnails created there are harsh) so I turned it off. I held off on Saturday but I just couldn't resist come round Sunday. Best operating system upgrade I've ever done in my life.....it was painless. I didn't even back up because I had so much confidence in the system. You'll spend $100 easily on something else...put it into your system and be on the crest of the digital wave.... - MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/31/2007, -1/+2You guys aren't actually providing any real answers.
- moofer, on 10/31/2007, -2/+3But then Apple would have to write/include drivers for every 3rd party piece of hardware and peripheral known to mankind in order to remain as easy-to-install as it is today - Creating one huge bloated pig of an operating system. There's already one of those in the marketplace - look how well it turned out.
Piece of advice - next time you go to buy a PC, just buy a Mac and stop wishing, already. - moofer, on 10/31/2007, -5/+6But no one has ever used it... They're all confused as to which version to buy.
- antitab, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1CS3 and FCS work just fine, and I'm still on the WWDC beta. You should be set to go.
- natenovs, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1no. im referring to when i installed red hat in high school and played with "spaces"
- moofer, on 11/02/2007, -0/+1Oh yeah... here you go *****. Used more than OS X my ass. Used more than Windows 98 maybe. Enjoy your less than single-digit market share. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070903-linu ...
- MacParrot, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1There are some issues with Premiere and other related apps according to Adobe. They say they're going to have updates for them in December.
- moofer, on 11/02/2007, -0/+1Then why do I have to install drivers for every f-ing peripheral I own? Linux isn't used by nearly as many people as Mac OS, BTW. Keep sniffing glue.
- henrikakselsen, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1"Despite having no friends, no life, no education no job, and no prospects, despite the war in Iraq, a plunging dollar, the looming energy crisis, global warming, and the sheer horror of being alive in this day and age, this morning, I woke up happy, for today would be my most exciting review: OSX 10.5 was being released."
Hehe, over-the-top-apple-fanboy. Love it! And the end is priceless! - mrBitch, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1if you are referencing the buggy hacks that pass for virtual desktops under Windows, then you obviously haven't seen Spaces running.
- schoate09, on 10/30/2007, -4/+3I think I'll wait till around 10.5.3 - 10.5.5 for my hackintosh.
Around June/July. - wheresjim, on 11/02/2007, -5/+4I think Apple has an opportunity to take some market share from Vista (which IMHO is a disaster). I don't know if there is an agreement between Cupertino and Redmond about not developing OS's for the others' platforms, but I would definitely run Leopard over Vista if I could get it to be usable (that means with driver support, not just installing some hacked ISO that doesn't let me use my sound card or half of my other peripherals).
- natenovs, on 10/31/2007, -2/+1welcome to 1998
- joepaterno, on 10/31/2007, -6/+4... says the man who's never used it
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/31/2007, -4/+1Blah blah blah... buy a mac.
It wouldn't matter what Vista or any other windows was like, you'd still be saying the same thing.
XP works fine and supports practically ever peripheral ever made. That "Huge Bloated Pig" is far better then Apples worthless "Work with nothing" OS, that almost everyone (9/10) passes on.
I would even choose to suffer with Vista before ever buying a Mac. That has to count for something. At least I could actually participate in a lan party and not have to sit in the corner.
Even Linux is used more then OSX, supports more hardware, and is trusted with much more important work than picture books, and amateur video editing.
Photoshop for windows easily outsells Mac's version, it's a joke. And you're whole "Bloated Pig" of a price OS is a joke. And thanks for letting us know, you want people to buy Apple products. - albundy, on 10/30/2007, -7/+1That's a whole lot of trouble just to void your warranty. I do like the logo.
