- DocBoo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+99time to warm up transmission for the fall season. Thanks NBC for saving me oh so much money
- tropican8, on 10/10/2007, -1/+59People who download TV shows want a single convenient place to get everything, just like music listeners and movie viewers. If content producers don't allow that place to be a legitimate online store like iTunes, it will end up being Bittorrent.
- geminitojanus, on 10/10/2007, -3/+52And they honestly are pissed that people are pirating their content? Really?
I've bought every episode of House released to date off iTunes, if they remove it then guess what I'll have to resort to? I refuse to watch ad-laden TV; I even had to stop watching the news because of "Head On, Apply Directly to the Forehead."
Honestly, this is the most upsetting news I've heard all day... this pisses me off to no end. I actually /want/ to pay them to watch House, because hopefully they'll make more House that way. Thanks NBC for taking away my way to PAY YOU DIRECTLY to watch your content. Infuriating... - indiefan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+47cough..tvrss.net...cough
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+31Pfiew. For a minute, I misread the title as House being canned or something.
- fasda, on 10/10/2007, -3/+31It's never lupus.
- Chaoticfist, on 10/10/2007, -4/+26OMG!!!!!!..........Guys that saves me so much money!!!!!!!! I will just download the shows off bit torrent!!!!!!. Saves money and there is no stupid commercials
- Celeron, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18Torrents, here we come!
- bluechips23, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16It's ALWAYS Lupus!
- Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Let's torrent the ***** out of them.
- blazes816, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14"Chuck" should be "boycotted" by everybody.
- imgonnafart, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12*pets DVR*
- Renuvian, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Some day it will be Lupus.
- ahawks, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13If this is the worst thing you've read today, you might want to start browsing outside of the "Technology" section on digg.
- blazes816, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9bigbadgoat: "It's never lupus" is a quote from house. He had his pills store in a hollowed out book about lupus and when they asked him about it he said 'So! It's never lupus!'.
- blackanode, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Thats a bad cough you should get that looked at.
- superkendall, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Actually it's pretty annoying since it's fairly compressed. What about those of us with media PCs? Or who watch some shows at the gym on an iPod?
I was curious about a few shows I would normally have downloaded pilots for to check out - too bad for NBC I can't do that anymore. The web is the most annoying way to view an hour of video. - kitchen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8***** NBC.
I was willing to pay $2/episode for commercial free versions of their episodes and some nice convenience.
then they pull this. now, instead of $2/episode, they get 0. and no ad revenue either. - RossPelton, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I love house. If they take away the legal way we watch it. Are the masses just going to quit their house addictions? Um, No. They will find the pirate bay. I personally love the pirate bay. And would like to thank NBC for helping promote them.
- underburn, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10http://torrentfreak.com/automate-your-bittorrent-t ...
***** you NBC. - KungFuJesus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8first rule of newsgroups, is that you don't ***** talk about newsgroups. Try to keep usenet off the RIAAdar, ok.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7NBC as an artist?
Hmm... - applepro, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8NBC + Universal = Kiss My Ass
NBC's solution of streaming is crappily implemented and they still don't get it. If I'm to buy the show, it has to be easier than pirating it! Duh, but they are too stupid to understand that concept. - phantomcrux, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7My EyeTV HD, AppleTv and external Hard drive are getting a lot more use than I thought, but it's also saving me a lot of money. I would much rather just subscribe and download everything I want from a place like iTunes, but I'll live with the extra step.
- ConceptJunkie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6>They tried that 30 years ago when people would use VCRs for that purpose.
Don't think we aren't going to go through the exact same thing all over again, but I'd bet on different results. - fuzzmeister, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Media companies need to realize this: you can never defeat piracy by combating it. You can only defeat it by competing with it effectively. If there was one place where you could download music, movies, TV shows, books, games, etc, all in extremely high quality at very good speeds, and for reasonable prices, 99% of people would use that option instead of piracy.
- blazes816, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Torrents, here we came years ago.
- illuzionmod, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6or it could be Lupus
- oneoverzero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6He didn't say he was going to steal it, just that it isn't surprising that people do.
- jcapogna, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6He may not have the right but he's going to do it anyway as are many other people.
- AWBoy666, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Wow, this was the one show I was considering ordering on iTunes!
- StMac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5You might want to have him look into that, it could be something serious.
- turpenine, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5tvtorrents?
- gquaglia, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Just wait until NBC demands that your saved show can only be saved for 2 days or that you cant skip commercials anymore, or maybe you won't be able to record it at all.
- fasda, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Alex2
you know both of those ARE actually diseases right and here are the wiki articles http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibromyalgia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypoglycemia - WhipkickeN, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5http://www.eztvefnet.org/frontpage.php ?
- Shorties, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I've seen a very Love it or Hate it attachment to chuck, I personally love it, I find it hilarious. But that is just my opinion.
- inertic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Ah so there is hope for me once I'm done with med school.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4It is irrelevant whether or not it SHOULD be free, all that matters is that it IS free.
- CraigJ, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6so does aJew
- shortarabguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Because sometimes when we value content very highly we pay for it to thank the producers for making something so good that it's actually worth both our time AND our money.
- Linh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4so much for supporting my favorite shows.
- rytr23, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8Except that Unbox is a steaming hunk of *****.
- Wander2000, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I'm more upset that the hot nurse chick married the dorky looking doctor in real life.
- TheChihuahua, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Sorry, I was agreeing with you right up to the 'taking food out of someone's mouth' comment. That is BOLLOCKS. No-one is going to starve to death because some people have decided to find an alternative, considerably less painful way of viewing content. I haven't watched TV for a couple of years due to the fact that most of it is absolute garbage, and most of the shows I watch are either not available in this country or are surrounded by ridiculous amounts of advertisements. The media conglomerates got greedy, and now the inevitable has happened and people are showing them two fingers.
- RxDaniel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Yeah it's funny how companies whine about this. We are the people they want to buy it they should distribute it so that it makes the customer happy not them. If we don't like how it's being distributed we won't buy it. Just in case you don't know that is bad for NBC not us. I actually prefer using iTunes over torrents as long as what i want is actually on iTunes. I'm not gonna download 15 different iTunes wannabe programs so I can get music, shows and movies from every company that makes something I like just because they don't like iTunes.
- iTorrey, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Good to see we are the only household to have this joke. Ours is always "Maybe it's autoimmune".
- 3adkied, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Wait? They tried that 30 years ago when people would use VCRs for that purpose. The courts set the precedent by saying this was protected under fair use. In the past courts have upheld these saying that the basic facts haven't been changed by TiVo.
I wouldn't be surprised though, if they didn't try to stop broadcasting shows altogether to prevent the 'fair use loophole'. Maybe just replace regular programming with shopping network type advertising to get you to order shows off pay-per-view. Now THAT'S a business model. -
