- Essefgy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Less talk -- more ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT!!!
- bipto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Already got Family Guy on my Smartphone. my iPod is for music."
Hmm. See, I think my phone is for _talking_.
But that's just me. What do I know? - briansalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1More like Fox has to because more and more people are just downloading episodes anyways...
I'd seriously consider upgrading to the video iPod if I could get new episodes of House automatically downloaded to it, even with the pricetag. - phpkerouac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Id rather buy the content high rez so i can watch it full screen on my TV - Itunes video is a great idea, but it doesnt translate well to larger screens. I dont really care to have TV bleed out of the house, but being able to have shows a la carte and practically on demand is very attractive.
- BlueStarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1YOu've got to be an idiot to pay for this *****. I'll keep ripping my ***** for free... Thanks El Gato
- Aesculapius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"If only that meant that they could keep Arrested Development on air."
I third that notion.
Why don't the TV networks use this as a venue to keep shows alive that have enough viewership to maintain profitability in this model, but not enough to keep on broadcast TV. Arrested development doesn't have enough viewership to warrant a primtime timeslot, but at 4 million viewers, if even a quarter of them bought the show from iTunes, they would be making $2 million per episode (at the $1.99 price point). That's plenty to cover production costs and make a profit! - heartless_, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"Family Guy on your iPod?"
Dugg for that very good question! - sekyuritei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1SAVE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT! I know the ratings are lower because the type of people that watch it are smart enough to download it.
- Xion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I fully believe in Apple to make downloadable television commonplace, but its the people like "bluestarr" who refuse to even consider the idea, that slows the networks from jumping onboard. If you don't support the shows that you love, either by watching them on TV or buying them from iTunes then the network loses money... and we all know what happens then, cancellation! Buying Family Guy on iTunes would help it to never be cancelled again. I download torrents all the time, but it hasn't hindered my purchases of music, movies, and games, it just helps weed out the crap. Getting everything for free sounds good, but what happens when everyshow you love gets cancelled because you refuse to stop stealing it?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"if even a quarter of them bought the show from iTunes"
LOL, at most 1/10000 of iTune users would buy it. - webdwarf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0good call bipto! haha
- Wogna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Freaking give me House
- wileybass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Give me 24!
- corsairstw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would certainly buy Arrested Development episodes if they were available on iTunes! This is perfect! Now, if only Fox can think about this and pull through.
Family Guy + Arrested Development + iPod = bliss. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0impossible for a quarter of them to buy it.
- sudoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Giggetty Giggetty Giggetty! Onnnllllyyy Quaagmire....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Forget family guy, what about Firefly? With a bit of apple advertising once Universal's 10 year agreement is up, the show could become all the rage.
- ebescan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like that there is now an oppertunity to do this. It doesn't necessarily mean I will purchase the videos. In reference to a whole season of the Simpsons for $44.00, you'll get it a hell of a lot sooner than waiting for it on DVD AND you can get the episodes that are good (unless you think every Simpsons episode is great).

Family Guy wootage - Bigfat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"i dont want to watch family guy on half inch screen."
Then don't, you pansy!
I'd love to see this go through, it would only take someone like Fox to make the only portable video crap explode. Forget Family Guy on my iPod, I want 24 on my iPod! - Jules, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2But its gonna be worse quality than the ones you can get for free. Meh.
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey, folks, read the story. The minion said Fox would "be open to discussions." When they find out how much control Apple maintains, and the amount of money they would get, I think they will bail out. Fox is the tightest of the tight when it comes to distributing their content.
Of course, not that it matters. Most of you probably already have any Fox show you want on your iPod, thanks to the wonder of "alternative distibution channels". Why would you pay for COMMERCIAL content that you get for free, either that way or on your TiVo to Go? - terafunker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here's an idea: sell episodes of popular shows in syndication! Seinfeld, Friends, The Simpsons, and others will continue to air on b channels for the same reason radio stations still play 90s music: people want to hear it. Geeks and Torrent snobs may only be interested in having what's brand-new or just released, but a lot of people could probably stand to pay $0.99 for old episodes of their favorite TV shows. Anyone at Apple thought about that? It's working for music, obviously, so why not ask the networks to bust open the vaults? I know at least one person who'd love to have every episode of Rockford Files on his iPod.
(Oh, and how's this for a selling point for geeks: iTunes could sell older episodes of Family Guy and link to purchasable content alluded to in each episode; meaning Family Ties, Who's the Boss, Three's Company, and, er, every episode of the Simpsons.
One last thing: my iTunes wish list would include the following: daily updates of Daily Show with Jon Stewart, available by 6 am the morning after aired; Weekly updates of Cartoon Networks original shows: The Boondocks, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Harvey Birdman; Weekly updates of South Park--when applicable; Weekly collection of all three Law and Order shows; and finally, selected programmes from the BBC and Channel 4 that are otherwise never seen in the US. - jakv5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0TiVo is about to blow apples socks off because A. it is offering Podcast suppot & B. it is easy to use!!!

- mwong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That would be "freaking sweet!"

- thavok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"TiVo is about to blow apples socks off because A. it is offering Podcast suppot & B. it is easy to use!!!'
LOL Maybe He missed the Article about NBC sueing TV For this Product. - dtmfdan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0after fox sees how much money they make off ipod videos they'll never cancel family guy again
- techmonk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i dont want to watch family guy on half inch screen.
- uacheesehead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Fox would be great! Family Guy, OC, 24, I hear House is good..
- terafunker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oxxiox: King of the Hill has "white trash" viewers? I think you're thinking of Family Guy, actually. Yeah, that's right, white trash doesn't seem to identify with middle-class Texans with conservative values as much as constant profanity and dirty joke.
As for Arrested Development, those of us watching it know it's a wonderful show, but there's obviously some strange market forces at work if it's being cancelled while American Dad continues to stink up the air waves!
As for the Fox+iTunes deal, I couldn't really say that I care. ABC has a deal, but they've only released two shows, and in crummy resolution at that. Fox will probably do similarly by releasing only the O.C. and 24 or something like that. Maybe we'd get The Simpsons and Family Guy, but the former is closely guarded by its creators and Cartoon Network already re-airs recent episodes of Family Guy each night. - DRawkus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As an Apple employee and stock holder, this is great news.
- althe3rduww, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"TiVo is about to blow apples socks off because A. it is offering Podcast suppot & B. it is easy to use!!!'
LOL, are you actually suggesting that apple makes hard to use products? Since apple already does all of that? - hiro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0""Already got Family Guy on my Smartphone. my iPod is for music."
Hmm. See, I think my phone is for _talking_.
But that's just me. What do I know?"
That's 'cos your phone ain't smart enough and mine is :P - stealthboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Family Guy on your iPod?"
Been there, done that. And it's everything I thought it could be. - ellingswin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, of course they are OPEN to it. It is kind of like asking. Does Fox want to make a little money?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0more money for Rupert Murdock
- apollo2011, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As long as you can't get O'Reilly on ur iPod
;-) - MOGua, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Fox: Of course, we'd be open to 'iTunes'"
"Fox: No Plans to Support HD DVD."
always a little slow to the game, eh? - saluki1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool! I'd like to see 24 come to iTunes!
- oxxiox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is what fox needs, that way they can stop making crappy shows like King of the Hill with high, white trash viewership, and cater to the intelligent Arrested Development watching crowd, most of which I would imagine are tech saavy enough to operate iTunes. If only this had been around in the days of firefly, it might have been saved.
- orangetiki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Get on the gravy train Fox
- bcoughlin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I'm looking forward to this.
- craigtheguru, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Two words: Do it!
- hiro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Already got Family Guy on my Smartphone. my iPod is for music. I also think the precedent for pricing videos is unacceptable, if they translate to £1.99 in the UK then it will give satellite/cable companies an excuse to raise the price of their programming, if they set music tracks to 10p and video to 40p it would virtually wipe out file sharing over night
- justinbaker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0family guy already on my ipod
- ArthurSucks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Freakin Sweet!
