Fixing MacBook Pro Sleep Problems
windley.com — One of the things I loved about my Powerbook was that it slept —and woke—reliably. I would go weeks without rebooting my machine and I bragged about it often to the poor saps who had to use XP on their laptops. Lately, that hasn't been the case, but I've solved the problem. Here's how...

- Devo420, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1I tried your fix and it worked really well for me. I was having these weird problems, I would come out of sleep mode and none of my peripherals would work except the macbook pro's touch pad...the only solution was to reset. Changing my sleep mode to keep the ram running is using a little more battery, but its worth it, plus it come out of sleep instantly now!
- makofoto, on 05/23/2008, -0/+0I set Hibernation to Mode 0 ... worked great last night. My MBP would snap right out of sleep, but this morning it again wouldn't wake up and I had to restart it. Checked and Hibernation mode is still 0 ?!
- duanemsmith, on 07/16/2008, -0/+0I recently purchased a new MacBook in Lima (Peru) after losing my last one in the Airport in Cusco (Peru). I have had it 2 weeks now an have been dogged by the dreaded Kernel Panics using Leopard which I never experienced while using Tiger. However, I noticed that in the majority of cases the kernel panics seemed to always happen after my computer was on for an extended period. I would leave the computer on to do a long download and I would come back and the machine would go into sleep mode and would not recover. I would have to re-start and in most cases experience kernel panics. I then read your article and tried your suggestion and so far the sleep mode seems to be functioning normally and I have not yet had a kernel panic (touch wood). I then changed the hibernate mode back to 3 and tried to invoke the previous problem, but at this stage have not been able to re-create the problem. I will now wait until tomorrow morning, because as makofoto has pointed out, I have experienced kernel panics the next day after my computer was off overnight even though I was able to use it the previous day. Thank you for your great suggestion!!!!!
