First Look Inside New Gigantastic NYC Apple Store [PICS VID]
gizmodo.com — This afternoon we discovered that the window blinds had come down, and we could get a full monty of the place. Here's a film and gallery of the new 14th St New York City Apple Store at its most virginal, before it gets soiled.

- olmcbooty, on 12/06/2007, -3/+40That spiral staircase is HUGE! The upskirt viewing potential looks to be approximately 4.5632 better than the 7th Ave store!

- sockpuppets, on 12/06/2007, -1/+7It's like superman threw an iCrystal and it landed on 14th street.

Downblouse too....
Can't wait for the iPhone pics! - mbman7, on 12/06/2007, -1/+1Not to rain on your parade but you do know the glass is frosted right?
- asforme, on 12/06/2007, -1/+2If only the iphone camera was on the front. You might look a little suspicious with the screen pointed down.

- DangerDaz, on 12/06/2007, -0/+35It would be better if you rotated the pictures to be the right way up before uploading.

- jrtcs, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2Leave it to Gizmodo to mess up what could be a cool article with ***** editing. Buried.
- maxaids, on 12/06/2007, -8/+13Eh. It's like any other Apple Store, just bigger and maybe a bit shinier.
- likwidfuzion, on 12/06/2007, -0/+4How many Apple Stores have you seen with a staircase like that?
- LeeSoong, on 12/06/2007, -10/+2Ah, who cares?
The fruit machines are still the same over inflated price ? - neiltc13, on 12/06/2007, -1/+2Glasgow, UK.

- mentol, on 12/06/2007, -8/+4This is FTW.
Good job Apple for going from simple designs to something much more sophisticated (that's a lot more shinier) - DangerDee, on 12/06/2007, -1/+8Someone taking a spill down those stairs will be quite a site.
- sockpuppets, on 12/06/2007, -1/+19Trip at the top, file your lawsuit in the middle, pick up your free macbook pro at the bottom.
- rheaume, on 12/06/2007, -1/+1Quite a website indeed
- Regulator980, on 12/06/2007, -7/+12A big Apple inside the Big Apple. Nice!
- renagadex2, on 12/06/2007, -0/+4You want some butter with that corn?
- onClipEvent, on 12/06/2007, -3/+24am i the only one that goes to the Apple store to browse and never buy? (i buy online instead)
- stalefries, on 12/06/2007, -1/+6Unfortunately, a lot of the student discounts offered online aren't applicable at the Apple Store, so I tend to shop online.
- NSResponder, on 12/06/2007, -1/+2I buy online, because I have developer discounts. I go to the stores whenever I need something immediately.
-jcr - renagadex2, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1Ya usually when I'm high and its 3 am I travel over there.
- StupidLiberal, on 12/06/2007, -3/+1No, I don't look or buy. I'd rather flush my money down the toilet than use this crap
- smurf22, on 12/06/2007, -9/+8Digg needs a [pics vid] section.
- SteveMax, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1It needs to replace hard-defined categories by tags. You could (for example) tag this as technology apple video picture news; a video review of a new multiplatform game as news video gaming wii ps3 x360, and so on.
- indieguitar, on 12/06/2007, -2/+15I love hearing the sirens in the background of the video.

If that was the title of a submission I'm not sure it would ever leave the front page of digg.

- soulsolution, on 12/06/2007, -11/+3Drab. The place needs more colors.

- chesscat, on 12/06/2007, -3/+7Apple even does stores better. Shop shop shop!
- itsthebrod, on 12/06/2007, -13/+7What the hell? You fanboys get more and more pathetic each and every day, I swear... How do they do stores better? By throwing a bunch of plain wooden tables and glass in them? I call that boring. You sheep really are pathetic.
- renagadex2, on 12/06/2007, -3/+5Wow what the hell is wrong with you. When anyone has a differing opinion here they're called sheep. And he's making fun of commercialism with his "Shop shop shop!". *****.
- itsthebrod, on 12/06/2007, -7/+2Differing opinion? No sir. It's a well-known fact that most Apple fans are brainwashed idiots who believe their "favorite company" can do no wrong. It's the idea that anyone can be so utterly obsessed and in love with a company that's what's wrong... Not me.
- renagadex2, on 12/06/2007, -3/+5Wow what the hell is wrong with you. When anyone has a differing opinion here they're called sheep. And he's making fun of commercialism with his "Shop shop shop!". *****.
- SCPChop108, on 12/06/2007, -3/+2Thats all they did better
- LeeSoong, on 12/06/2007, -1/+1OK, well I'll buy 1 staircase to go, please.
What?
- itsthebrod, on 12/06/2007, -13/+7What the hell? You fanboys get more and more pathetic each and every day, I swear... How do they do stores better? By throwing a bunch of plain wooden tables and glass in them? I call that boring. You sheep really are pathetic.
- pieceofred, on 12/06/2007, -14/+3all you nerds are so dumb...this is just a paid blog announcement to help apple make more millions...you got played right into their stinking greedy hands, twerps. how dumb can you get??
- ronmexico, on 12/06/2007, -0/+4We could get as dumb as you, but we have a long way to go for that.
- ItsMyWii, on 12/06/2007, -2/+4Dugg for gigantastic.
- Delber, on 12/06/2007, -1/+5I would be scared if I walked on the glass staircase.
- indieguitar, on 12/06/2007, -0/+5Yeah, I hope the store is not next to an opera house...
- LeeSoong, on 12/06/2007, -1/+4Nope, the new store is right between the indoor shooting range,
and the Mega BASS subwoofer testing center...
- LeeSoong, on 12/06/2007, -1/+4Nope, the new store is right between the indoor shooting range,

- indieguitar, on 12/06/2007, -0/+5Yeah, I hope the store is not next to an opera house...
- dmsean, on 12/06/2007, -3/+7I remember back in the day when Gateway was becoming the new and hip company and kept spending money on their *store* concept. Then dot com boom came, and all the stores closed.....
- NSResponder, on 12/06/2007, -1/+9Gateway was rather stupid about it. First of all, they didn't have any INVENTORY! The whole point of a store is that it's a place where you go to buy things and take them home. Going to a store to place an order which you could have done on the phone or via their web site was an asinine idea.
-jcr- LeeSoong, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2Agreed - I Visited a Gateway store once to see what they were selling,
after the sales guy told me they had no inventory, I said, 'well, then it's kinda stupid to have such a big empty store, right? I could get the same information on line, right?'
The look in the salesmens' eyes was so sad, like this was the only job he could get.
It closed a few weeks later, I am certain they all found better jobs than selling in a store with no stock, no inventory.
The Apple Stores seem well stocked - even with the bigger items, but they don't carry the most powerful macs - the Dual Quad Cores. I guess stacking 8 or 10 $15,000 machines in the back would hurt their sales ratings...
- LeeSoong, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2Agreed - I Visited a Gateway store once to see what they were selling,
- wstrucke, on 12/06/2007, -0/+6um, have you ever actually had a gateway?
there's a reason their stores closed and it's not what you think. - themoosejuice, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1the tractor seat chairs were kinda cool
- moisie, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1Apple are actually selling things and making money. The companies that went bust during the dot com boom did so basically because they were spending money that didn't exist.
- NSResponder, on 12/06/2007, -1/+9Gateway was rather stupid about it. First of all, they didn't have any INVENTORY! The whole point of a store is that it's a place where you go to buy things and take them home. - roxb0x, on 12/06/2007, -14/+10Oh, neat. It looks like any other store except IT HAS 3 LEVELS OF THE SAME ***** AND A BIG ***** STAIRCASE.
- NSResponder, on 12/06/2007, -8/+2Oh man.. That is magnificent.
-jcr - olfhq, on 12/06/2007, -3/+6yay a place to buy things
- rheaume, on 12/06/2007, -3/+2You know how they are paying for that opulence right? Think about it.
- Markie1006, on 12/06/2007, -1/+2Yes.
Their stock price.
- Markie1006, on 12/06/2007, -1/+2Yes.
- Cheesemonge92r, on 12/06/2007, -4/+5apple doesnt have that many different products
i mean there are a few but not enough to fill 3 stories- LeeSoong, on 12/06/2007, -2/+6Luckily they have all 6 games for the mac!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiAgrrwL_mk- MrMacMan, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1welcome to like, 4 years ago.
- moisie, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1By that logic any shop only needs to have one of each item on display and everyone can stand in line to view it. I think they'll have a number of each item so that, you know, a lot of people can try them out at the same time.
- LeeSoong, on 12/06/2007, -2/+6Luckily they have all 6 games for the mac!
- gregdogum, on 12/06/2007, -1/+7Damn . . . now we need a PictureVideo section
- donsnyc, on 12/06/2007, -3/+5Holy *****! I live just a couple of blocks from this store. This is heaven!
- stoobywon, on 12/06/2007, -4/+1steve jobs is the devil!
- michaelothomas, on 12/06/2007, -0/+5Interesting, it's one block over from Google's NYC office.
- sockpuppets, on 12/06/2007, -0/+5If you look closely you can see wonder woman's jet parked out front.
- baseballbear, on 12/06/2007, -3/+2how pretentious
- wstrucke, on 12/06/2007, -1/+2... you are
- rheaume, on 12/06/2007, -3/+1Pretentious store sells to the pretentious
- joerod, on 12/06/2007, -6/+3dugg because this brings yet another great thing to the greatest place on Earth!
- itsthebrod, on 12/06/2007, -3/+5Tell me, how many times per day do you ejaculate to a photo of Steve Jobs?
- stoobywon, on 12/06/2007, -3/+2yeah i hate mac fanboys
unluckily my brother has become one of them :(
- stoobywon, on 12/06/2007, -3/+2yeah i hate mac fanboys
- itsthebrod, on 12/06/2007, -3/+5Tell me, how many times per day do you ejaculate to a photo of Steve Jobs?
- datdamonfoo, on 12/06/2007, -6/+5Wow, a bigger store to sell all 5 iterations of their computer.
- itsthebrod, on 12/06/2007, -8/+3Gotta have room for all those Mac fans' inflated egos since they're "part of the Apple community."
- Laxaloot, on 12/06/2007, -3/+1I resent that. I have a mac and an ipod, and enjoy their products, but I completely agree that this store is ludicrous , and I openly admit both mac and windows (and linux) have problems.
- itsthebrod, on 12/06/2007, -5/+1Well just as long as don't go around telling everyone to "switch" and think you're better because all your products have a glossy white finish, you're fine in my book.
- Laxaloot, on 12/06/2007, -3/+1I resent that. I have a mac and an ipod, and enjoy their products, but I completely agree that this store is ludicrous , and I openly admit both mac and windows (and linux) have problems.

- jaydubnb, on 12/06/2007, -5/+0I call the next NYC Apple Store opening is gonna be in Williamsburg. That neighborhood in of itself has enough Apple fanboy juice to power at least 3 stores in the area.
- shadowofleaves, on 12/06/2007, -1/+1beautiful :D
- Kinsbane, on 12/06/2007, -0/+4I've always liked Apple's store designs. However, I think if they're spending X amount of money on a giant glass staircase, they can spend Y amount of money on top of that and get some better tables to better show their product off.
- themoosejuice, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2Nahh..... people will be talking about that glass staircase to everyone and spread the word about the store. But putting one very unique item in the store like this staircase, it gets a buzz going which is priceless. Lots of companies do this.
- nsanidy, on 12/06/2007, -5/+2My response in one syllable or less?
"meh."- antitab, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1My response to your comment in one syllable (not less)?
"So?"
- antitab, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1My response to your comment in one syllable (not less)?
- renagadex2, on 12/06/2007, -3/+1God damn it I don't want another one in my city.
- SleepingOrange, on 12/06/2007, -2/+25000 sq ft. for less than 10 display models. Nice.
- obxjdt, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1Nice work by the Glaziers.
- gt5000, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1Next time you go to an Apple Store notice that they ask for your zip code. I'm pretty sure that they are seeing where their customers come from. If NYC stores are always crowded and they see that most of their customers are coming from the city, why not give the public what they want? Bottom line is that all three levels of this are going to be filled around the clock, whether you fanboys/disgruntled "haters" like it or not.
- ensert13, on 12/06/2007, -1/+1i am an apple fan, but man the store is so boring to go into. every time I go in there its the exact same stuff, never any sales, deals or anything special.
now you have 3 floors of the same stuff over and over and over? woohoo an entire floor of iPods- moisie, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1Maybe they figure they don't need to do any sales because sales are more than good enough as it is.
- happyseamonster, on 12/06/2007, -1/+0They keep spending like that and...
- moisie, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2what? Their stores are some of the most profitable per square foot on the planet.
- happyseamonster, on 12/07/2007, -0/+0They're also minimalist...
- moisie, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2what? Their stores are some of the most profitable per square foot on the planet.
- BruB, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1How many fanboys will be standing underneath the stairs waiting for mini skirts to pass by?
- happyseamonster, on 12/07/2007, -0/+0None. We're too busy with the toys...
- edwartica, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1I sure hope they have an elevator. Oh wait, apple doesn't care about acceptability.
- antitab, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2I think you meant "accessibility", to which I say this:
http://mike.command-q.org/img/access.png
Furthermore, that glass cylinder is an elevator, same as in the 5th Ave store.
http://gizmodo.com/photogallery/AppleStoreNYC14thS ...- edwartica, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1*****, how the ***** did that turn into acceptability? HAH!
- antitab, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2I think you meant "accessibility", to which I say this:
- 408Shrksfan, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1WOW, breath taking!!
