- olmcbooty, on 12/06/2007, -3/+40That spiral staircase is HUGE! The upskirt viewing potential looks to be approximately 4.5632 better than the 7th Ave store!
- DangerDaz, on 12/06/2007, -0/+35It would be better if you rotated the pictures to be the right way up before uploading.
- onClipEvent, on 12/06/2007, -3/+24am i the only one that goes to the Apple store to browse and never buy? (i buy online instead)
- sockpuppets, on 12/06/2007, -1/+19Trip at the top, file your lawsuit in the middle, pick up your free macbook pro at the bottom.
- indieguitar, on 12/06/2007, -2/+15I love hearing the sirens in the background of the video.
- sockpuppets, on 12/06/2007, -3/+14HULK NO LIKE HOLIDAYS! MAKE HULK ANGRY!
- NSResponder, on 12/06/2007, -1/+9Gateway was rather stupid about it. First of all, they didn't have any INVENTORY! The whole point of a store is that it's a place where you go to buy things and take them home. Going to a store to place an order which you could have done on the phone or via their web site was an asinine idea.
-jcr - sockpuppets, on 12/06/2007, -3/+11STFU?
- DangerDee, on 12/06/2007, -1/+8Someone taking a spill down those stairs will be quite a site.
- abrooks, on 12/06/2007, -0/+65th Avenue?
- maxaids, on 12/06/2007, -7/+13Eh. It's like any other Apple Store, just bigger and maybe a bit shinier.
- gregdogum, on 12/06/2007, -1/+7Damn . . . now we need a PictureVideo section
- sockpuppets, on 12/06/2007, -1/+7It's like superman threw an iCrystal and it landed on 14th street.
- wstrucke, on 12/06/2007, -0/+6um, have you ever actually had a gateway?
there's a reason their stores closed and it's not what you think. - Markie1006, on 12/06/2007, -0/+5Welcome to New York
- indieguitar, on 12/06/2007, -0/+5Yeah, I hope the store is not next to an opera house...
- sockpuppets, on 12/06/2007, -0/+5If you look closely you can see wonder woman's jet parked out front.
- michaelothomas, on 12/06/2007, -0/+5Interesting, it's one block over from Google's NYC office.
- stalefries, on 12/06/2007, -1/+6Unfortunately, a lot of the student discounts offered online aren't applicable at the Apple Store, so I tend to shop online.
- Regulator980, on 12/06/2007, -7/+12A big Apple inside the Big Apple. Nice!
- chesscat, on 12/06/2007, -3/+7Apple even does stores better. Shop shop shop!
- ronmexico, on 12/06/2007, -0/+4We could get as dumb as you, but we have a long way to go for that.
- Kinsbane, on 12/06/2007, -0/+4I've always liked Apple's store designs. However, I think if they're spending X amount of money on a giant glass staircase, they can spend Y amount of money on top of that and get some better tables to better show their product off.
- LeeSoong, on 12/06/2007, -2/+6Luckily they have all 6 games for the mac!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiAgrrwL_mk - Delber, on 12/06/2007, -1/+5I would be scared if I walked on the glass staircase.
- likwidfuzion, on 12/06/2007, -0/+4How many Apple Stores have you seen with a staircase like that?
- dmsean, on 12/06/2007, -3/+7I remember back in the day when Gateway was becoming the new and hip company and kept spending money on their *store* concept. Then dot com boom came, and all the stores closed.....
- renagadex2, on 12/06/2007, -0/+4You want some butter with that corn?
- olfhq, on 12/06/2007, -3/+6yay a place to buy things
- LeeSoong, on 12/06/2007, -1/+4Nope, the new store is right between the indoor shooting range,
and the Mega BASS subwoofer testing center... - kevinmotel, on 12/06/2007, -1/+4I dunno. I feel inexplicably compelled to digg him up.
- moisie, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2what? Their stores are some of the most profitable per square foot on the planet.
- jrtcs, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2Leave it to Gizmodo to mess up what could be a cool article with ***** editing. Buried.
- renagadex2, on 12/06/2007, -3/+5Wow what the hell is wrong with you. When anyone has a differing opinion here they're called sheep. And he's making fun of commercialism with his "Shop shop shop!". *****.
- LeeSoong, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2Agreed - I Visited a Gateway store once to see what they were selling,
after the sales guy told me they had no inventory, I said, 'well, then it's kinda stupid to have such a big empty store, right? I could get the same information on line, right?'
The look in the salesmens' eyes was so sad, like this was the only job he could get.
It closed a few weeks later, I am certain they all found better jobs than selling in a store with no stock, no inventory.
The Apple Stores seem well stocked - even with the bigger items, but they don't carry the most powerful macs - the Dual Quad Cores. I guess stacking 8 or 10 $15,000 machines in the back would hurt their sales ratings... - themoosejuice, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2Nahh..... people will be talking about that glass staircase to everyone and spread the word about the store. But putting one very unique item in the store like this staircase, it gets a buzz going which is priceless. Lots of companies do this.
- ItsMyWii, on 12/06/2007, -2/+4Dugg for gigantastic.
- antitab, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2I think you meant "accessibility", to which I say this:
http://mike.command-q.org/img/access.png
Furthermore, that glass cylinder is an elevator, same as in the 5th Ave store.
http://gizmodo.com/photogallery/AppleStoreNYC14thS ... - sockpuppets, on 12/06/2007, -1/+3He needs a built in accelerometer.
- inactive, on 12/06/2007, -3/+5Tell me, how many times per day do you ejaculate to a photo of Steve Jobs?
- donsnyc, on 12/06/2007, -3/+5Holy *****! I live just a couple of blocks from this store. This is heaven!
- obxjdt, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1Nice work by the Glaziers.
- stoobywon, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1chicken
- inactive, on 12/06/2007, -1/+2Glasgow, UK.
- BruB, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1How many fanboys will be standing underneath the stairs waiting for mini skirts to pass by?
- asforme, on 12/06/2007, -1/+2If only the iphone camera was on the front. You might look a little suspicious with the screen pointed down.
- gt5000, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1Next time you go to an Apple Store notice that they ask for your zip code. I'm pretty sure that they are seeing where their customers come from. If NYC stores are always crowded and they see that most of their customers are coming from the city, why not give the public what they want? Bottom line is that all three levels of this are going to be filled around the clock, whether you fanboys/disgruntled "haters" like it or not.
- moisie, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1By that logic any shop only needs to have one of each item on display and everyone can stand in line to view it. I think they'll have a number of each item so that, you know, a lot of people can try them out at the same time.
- edwartica, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1*****, how the ***** did that turn into acceptability? HAH!
- Cheesemonge92r, on 12/06/2007, -4/+5apple doesnt have that many different products
i mean there are a few but not enough to fill 3 stories -
