- flipmeat, on 10/23/2007, -3/+19Al Gore was using a Powerbook in the White House before joining Apple's board.

Actually laughed out loud. Check wikipedia and you will too. - herrshuster, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16famous windows users; everyone else
famous linux users: linus torvalds - digger_twit, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14Al Gore uses one in An Incovenient Truth.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12I saw Bjork on Saturday Night Live last Saturday with a MacBook Pro (or Powerbook), so I know at least that one is correct. I would be curious to know how this list was compiled.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I think he's too obvious to put on the list, dontcha think?
- NsinU8, on 10/12/2007, -4/+111. 97% of charted music is now recorded via Pro Tools or Logic Pro on a mac so it would be a safe bet that most musicians use macs.
2. How the hell do you know what kind of computer these people use? Sounds like it was pulled out of his ass. - pauljaroszewski, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Let me check my "give-a-*****" meter....Yup, its on ZERO! What a retarded story.
- SEMW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I think Linux users probably have enough things to compile whithout needing to resort to celebrity lists...
- strangewill, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Anyone else find it kind of strange that Mac users need to compile lists? Since when did the Linux or Windows community need to compile lists of famous people that used their operating systems?
Who cares, you use what YOU like, not what famous people are using. - SEMW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'm pretty sure that anyone claiming that "only gay people use macs" isn't really looking for a logical argument/debate....
- DjOverEZ, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8I wouldn't call Rush Limbaugh and Mel Gibson in good company.
- Robotsu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Why do I care? The f'ing pope could use a Mac for all I care.
I use what works. - adam84a, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3pretty sure he didn't always use Macs exclusively . . . you know like when he was at Next
- andydickme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Wow - Mel Gibson and Richard Dawkins have at least one thing in common. I bet they'll start having sleepovers and pillow fights with each other now!!!
- DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"And i have never heard of any of them before!"
You live a secluded life. - Wonkanobi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6This might be the most ridiculous list ever made. And I'm a lifelong Mac user.
- ggriffit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They forgot John Mayer too. These are both pretty obvious ones.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6alton brown should be on that list
- ciotog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not much chance of him thinking different anytime soon ...
- herrshuster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2JESUS is on there???
- aplardi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Steve Jobs switched to Vista...
okay digg me down...
no wait! I am an apple fanboy, does that help?
no?
okay... proceed with digging me down - Robotsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No, I actually love Macs. My first computer was an Apple back in 1994, and even though they were pretty much churning out crap in the mid-90's, I loved it.
My next purchase is definitely going to be a Mac; the power of *nix with the sex appeal of Apple? Can't beat it. I specifically left out naming a specific operating system because people should just judge for themselves which operating system "works" the best for them.
I just don't like somebody telling me to use a product just because somebody else uses it. It's completely asinine. - Majin_Raditz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If it's good enough for Troy(Aikman) then it's good enough for me.
- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8"He's obligated. He's on Apple's board of directors."
I suppose he joined cause he hated Mac's then?
"Tom Cruise" Oh no, not that weirdo, I'm switching back!
"Clint Eastwood" Now we're talking, on second thoughts I think I'll stay. - SEMW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not just Linus, there's Richard Stallman, he's quite famous!
And, er, Eric S. Raymond? (actually, on second thoughts, he might have switched to Windows).
And, ummm.... Who's the CEO of Red Hat? - benmarvin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Al Gore uses the computing power of his MacBook Pro to search for Manbearpig.
- webtechgeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Stephen King is a Mac user.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where is Adam Savage?
- rstarr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I have an odd feeling Adam Sandler will make a song about these people too.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5OK, someone actually dugg me down. I don't doubt the veracity of this list, I just want to know how the author got all this info. In fact I bookmarked it. It should shut up the idiots that claim from time to time on digg that only gay people use Macs.
- slashdotdash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Paul van Dyk uses a couple of MacBook Pro's for his Live DJ sets (and a combination of Ableton Live, Serato Final Scratch and also CDs).
- Firehed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Because most IT people aren't famous. Bill Gates is only famous because he's effing rich. And Steve Jobs is only famous (if you could even call it that outside of the geek population) because he's been referenced in a couple SNL skits as head of Apple. There are a few others mixed in there, but the list of people that are famous to geeks is very different than the list of people who are famous to typical people.
- NsinU8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@StrangeWill
I don't know what music business you're thinking of but few record companies maintain recording studios anymore. To go even further, a large, growing amount of producers & artists record in their home studios unless they are either unsigned, an ole school band (Aerosmith, AC/DC etc) or unless they are recording their freshman album (we are still talking about famous mac users). The days of the major commercial recording studio are numbered. Technology makes them obsolete. - jacook11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He only uses his for porn, so he didn't make the list.
- ibookfast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is obviously an old list, a third of the people listed are dead, either metaphysically or P.R. wise. OSX hadn't even busted onto the scene yet. The list is way short.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nevermind, the Homepage says "Updated October 22, 2000"
- Firehed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1and Michael Dell. He's quite a bit more famous than either Linus or RMS, at least as far as the general public is concerned.
- DjOverEZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@DaffyDuck OH NO YOU DIDN'T BITCH!
- DiggzDE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love how there are only a few actual famous IT or CIS people on that list.
I wonder why? hahahahaha.... - garblefung, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why is Gabo listed as other? Yeltsin's what, his computer?
I use them too, but why does it matter? I don't care who else uses them. No digg.
I do however know two people on the list that are famous, but are guarded about their privacy as accurately identified as Mac users. I suppose that makes the list somewhat accurate even if it's lame. - DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Here's my list of people who breathe air:
1. John Tesh
2. DjOverEZ
I might have missed a few. - flingblatz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I just saw an episode of MTV Cribs in which rapper Trick Daddy has a mac laptop on his desk...i think it was a G4 or Powerbook
- WickedOwl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Pete Townshend (guitarist from The Who) is also an outspoken Mac user - I didn't see him on the list.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Townshend - OhROFL, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Does it really matter?
- robshoy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Rush and Mel ruin the list. Martha's no angel either.
- DjOverEZ, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I'm a PC user just so I don't have to be associated with a list that has John Tesh on it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Wow, and 98% of the other thousands of celebs? Jesus, how lame.
- jacook11, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Add Rosie O'Donnell to that list
