- gert2, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Ever heard of a VCR?
- dgrgich, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I just purchased the EyeTV Hybrid, the version of this product that is currently available in the US.
It works EXTREMELY well. I had a Beyond TV 4 HD setup for about 10 episodes of 24 last year and it was quite flaky, unfortunately. When it worked, it worked flawlessly on a P4 2.8ghz with 1GB of RAM and an ATI 9700Pro. However, this was not the norm. The norm was me screaming at the TV just as Jack Bauer was about to kick some terrorist ass when the system would flake out.
The EyeTV Hybrid has worked from day one. I use my MacBook Pro Core Duo as the recording unit and record to an external drive. I am saving my pennies for a Mac Mini Core Duo so that I can just hook it up and forget about it. It is truly a wonderful thing, especially for my HD content.
I do love it so. - fowleryo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Will this work in the US?

I didn't see any of those cards on their website do you have direct link or anything? - Hardcase, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Nope, doesn't work in the US.

Yes, you can plug your existing antenna into the device. There is a coax plug on the USB stick. - Fly4Fun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The EyeTV software is really the best part of the package. It used to be a little flaky a few years ago, but the new one, EyeTV 2.0, works perfectly and has a really nice interface. It also has an export to iPod feature that I use on occasion. I have the original USB EyeTV from 2002. Nice to see something stay useful for more than just a few months.
- aerophe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If you own a MacBook Pro they have a card that goes into your expresscard/34 slot which looks awesome! It even works in the U.S. - Very Convienient, plus fills that expansion slot in the MacBook Pro.
- MaverickCC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Get the eyetv hybrid.. i live on the north side of chicago and i get excellent reception with a rooftop antenna (don't bother w/ this if you don't have that...the antenna is the KEY). All the major networks and every other channel on broadcast comes in reliably..and eyetv does a great job recording it all. Be aware though..hdtv shows are about 7gb for an hour...so get that external drive fired up.
- stmiller, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"Available in select countries where digital terrestrial television (DTT or DVB-T) is broadcast. "
Ggggrrrrrrr.... - cypherz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2ElGato makes a great product. EyeTV 2.0 kicks muchs ass. I'm thinking about upgrading to the Hybrid, but I wonder that it is so small. The EyeTV 200 is a nice (little) aluminum chassis. It works very well with my G4 Mini. Now that I have a largish LCD TV I'm wondering about those free to air digital broadcasts though and the EyeTV 3200 doesn't do HD. Guess I'll have to upgrade soon...
- mrblack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1mmm thats pretty. (if you like ugly boxes)
- ahuxley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I just got the older one antenna USB 2 version for my Mac Pro.
The two antenna solution should help many users.
In Adelaide, Australia I can get hd digital SBS or 7 if I move the antenna about 4 ft (1m).
So this is really a great. - gekkoeye, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Nope, DTT is Digital Terrestrial Television
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I have the Miglia TV Mini which is a great product and eyeTV makes it so perfect.
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow that stuff is expensive.
- iFelix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Using an external aerial (ie on the roof) using an EyeTV DTT I could pick up all the UK DVB-T channels.
- No13Baby, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4It doesn't appear so.
- Ninjininja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I currently have my PS2 and Sega Saturn hooked up on circulation. Works VERY well, although the picture isn't as crisp as on a TV (although it's probably attributed to the fact that I'm using a Powerbook G4). But for the most part, it's very playable, and it's perfect for me, since I'm in a dorm, and don't have enough room for a TV or monitor on my desk. 2 Thumbs up!
BTW, it accepts RF Adaptors, Composite Video, and S-Video. So if you want the best quality, S-Video is the way to go! - Kniggit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ATSC's modulation scheme (8-VSB) works very poorly for moving receivers. The rapidly changing reception conditions make it impossible to receive reliable transport stream data. ATSC was designed for range and lower transmitter output power to non-moving receivers which constitute the vast majority of television receivers.
In contrast, the DVB-T modulation scheme (C-OFDM) is much less sensitive to movement, but requires higher transmitter output power and has less range. - macbearps, on 12/06/2008, -0/+0This article is kinda old: SO MUCH has changed in the Apple Mac TV tuner marketplace! And alot of PC switchers are curious about options to watch, record, edit and export television programming on the Macintosh platform. Some really great info on TV tuners for Mac is at WWW.MAC-DIGITAL-TV-TUNERS.COM -- With the switchover to all-digital antenna reception looming in 2009 - and cable companies moving towards digital too, alot of old analog tuner gizmos are gonna become obsolete soon.
- drwho102003, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Can the EyeTV Hybrid hook to my rooftop antenna's coax ?
I do get pretty decent ATSC signals from my rooftop...
Thx. - nixfu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1
So whats the best choice for US intel macbook/mini owners in the USA?? - N1XUK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I have the Miglia Mini also, bought it cheap from apple before they released the new hybrid tuner! All i missed out on was the ability for connecting external video sources such as games consoles etc.
Software is great and when using the export to itunes function (mp4 h.264 etc) with FrontRow and an external 400gb HD my iBook is laughing. Also the best bit is here in the UK the number of radio stations available through digital TV is growing, saves my bandwith for better things..... - Mossa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Rewind, fast-forward, and pause live TV" ***** how far into the future can it fast-forward? Where's my share trading gimp$$$$$$$$$$$$$?
- nutkracker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Miglia have recently launched the TVDuo - a dual digital (freeview) tuner allowing you to watch and record 2 channels at once. More details available from http://store.miglia.com/s.nl/it.A/id.602/.f
- JackAxe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks.
I want to use my computer screen for Wii Zelda, since it's 16:9. - iFelix, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3The title says Digital TV Tuner - DTT is short for Digital TV Tuner.
- GeneralAntilles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Um, not exactly. It's painted plastic, not aluminum.

http://www.miglia.com/products/video/TVBookPro/index.html - theradical, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I would like to know if anyone has had success with a USB DTT receiver like this. How man channels can you possibly get? I tried to use EyeTV for DTT and it picked up exactly one channel, and that is in the heart of Amsterdam. I'm not bashing their product, I just wonder if anyone has found this to be useful?
- JackAxe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Are these things good enough for playing console games?
- arikalish, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Actually, Miglia makes that. It just uses EyeTV's software. My TVMax is the same way. Great hardware, pretty good software.
- sych0, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5doesnt work in the us? then who gives a *****!
i keed ;) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1sorry i didn't explain: that's a link in case anyone is interested in buying one.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Not dugg, because the poster acts like "DTT" is a known and used abbreviation.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2dupe post bury my balls
- miner, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1That looks sweet. But is isn't illegal to record television?
I thought the only reason that TiVo could do it was because you couldn't get it off the device. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+4dugg for mac
