- MackPrime, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17long page is looonnggg.
- heavensblade23, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Four Years isn't right...apparently the Apple rep said "For years."
- cindysim212, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10 Glad they put the Malcom Gladwell quote in there. I saw him speak once and he talked a lot about the iPod and why it became so successful - best perspective I ever heard on it.

- jlbraun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Number of hours devoted by the dev team during the past year mitigating the battery issues with iPods: Zero. They literally do not care about the battery issues, it's not even on their radar, all they care about is the next product.
- robohoe, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Stop promoting your website, it isn't even that good.
- chaloobe360, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I was thinking the same thing, they dropped the Mini line for the Nano.
- Drumrboy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4+digg just for the h320 lovin in the comment section :-D
- se7en11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@easyeve
I thought I was the only one having trouble counting. 1G, 4G, 5G, 3G...d'oh - adc89, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5I have a 3rd gen with a touch sensitive wheel...
- hobnob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the ipod is good for many reasons... just like a lot of products are good for many reasons
there are pros and cons to any product
the ipod took off because of 1- marketing and 2- because, in the end, it is a good product
it's simple and gets the job done
those that require a more advanced featureset or are unhappy with the design or quality of the ipod, will simply look elsewhere
fight the marketing not the product
might i also point out that people are morons. example: those that use "iPod" instead of "portable music player" (also noted in the article) - tymme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Everything you ever needed to know about the iPod in one sentence: Overpriced, over-hyped MP3 players that are more prominent than better players/brands due to bigger marketing budget.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah, I still don't get whats so good about the iPod. It's a walkman for people with too much time on their hands and that actually use earbuds.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod ? This beats the above one considerably
- dustinhoffman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I stand corrected... the first one with the touch sensitive click wheel.
- petdance, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3You mean you didn't imagine you were as cool as you had earlier.
- Cannon1001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The first time I requested the page it gave me a 403 error. It would have been funnier.
- edder282, on 12/26/2007, -0/+0thats my video
- tw0bit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2whats the deal with HP? they never said
- Basketb926, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I thought the ipod nano should come out of the ipod mini on the chart, not the ipod color. disk space is more of a defining characteristic than color screen
- CaptainValor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Not quite everything I'd ever want to know. Some general usage statistics by profession and demographic would be cool. But oh well...
- JakePM, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3um - very cool "gallery" of information on the iPod!
- daveseibert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Check out the "cool vintage ipod commercial link".
At one point, the guys says "The iPod and your mac-book together are a complete solution..."
Prophecy of the macbook, from 2001.
Any thoughts about the second coming, generic ipod creator? - Renton, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Ohhh, so it's not an alien space ship...
- Drumrboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2wrong reply... sorry
- pseudononymist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I think they missed one of the iPod Photo models. Digg me down if I'm wrong, but the 40g version was replaced with a 30g until the iPod Video came out
- tumoas, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1why isn't there anything about iphone except the "The future of the iPod" video?
- S8erpaintball, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2"Average lifespan of an iPod: 4 years" -- Yea...ok. My first one lasted a month and a half...second one, 3 months...
4 years my ass - Ignotus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0from the article: "List of iPod hater sites: anti-ipod.co.uk (is that it?)"
http://www.anythingbutipod.com
It's not really a "hate" site, but a site that discusses iPod alternatives. It's a decent resource if you use a player other than the iPod. I originally thought it was a "hate" site based on the url.
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives/2005/01/about-anything-but-ipod.php - strabes, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I don't know about the four year lifespan. I'm now on my 2nd free one from the applecare plan. The one I bought and the 1st one I received with applecare lasted less than a year each. I'm now on my 2nd free one from applecare which has lasted a couple years but is beginning to die.
- tuxracer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Everything you ever wanted to know about the iPod...
"You don't have permission to access /ipod/everything-you-wanted-to-know-about-ipod"
Pretty much sums it up. - CogitatorX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Cool page. I loves me some ipods.
- zmigliozzi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1They left out, expect to buy one every year because it will break.
- dademan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I found it amusing that, when clicking on the link on the main Digg site, it said that it was forbidden. Since, you know, nobody cares about the Ipod, well, I don't >.> Creative all the way.
But this is a pretty neat site, just to see the way its evolved. - PRocker267, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4is it just me? or is EVERYTHING on the front page ***** today?
- tgunner, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2What's that? I'm saying that I don't like the 4th and 5th Gen iPods. Hell, I don't even own an iPod!
iRiver H320 still going strong at 2.5 years of age! - DigitalJester, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2*is waiting for the comment that says something along the lines of, "30? explains why it sucks so badly then"*
- ipodsweatshop, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1One page? Here, in one post:
Made by slaves
Biggest DRM supporter
Underfeatured
Overpriced
Plays music - fredkreuger, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1From the article:
"If you are looking to drink soda, you're drinking "Coke.""
***** you. - tgunner, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4It's true... pretty much everything you want to know. The picture time line is pretty cool. I lost Interest in iPod's at the change to 4th generation, they became too mass produced..... not as much class as the previous generations.
- Jo9100, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5now how long is this single page? long.
- dustinhoffman, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1The grid with the iPod generations is wrong. I have a 4th generation iPod and that was the first one with the touch sensitive click wheel. It says it's a mechanical wheel....
Quote: "Touch-sensitive rotating scroll wheel with integrated buttons"
It describes the iPod photo (color screen 4th gen iPod) as Quote: "Color iPod, Touch-sensitive wheel with integrated buttons"
They were the same - EasyEve, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1This is so awesome because I always wondered what I-pods were the first. I bet the guy above meant to SAY I-POD. lol ;-)
- >mark, on 10/12/2007, -35/+10I can condense it down into one word:
Crap

What is Digg?
