- swass, on 11/22/2008, -2/+16The security is flawed--check it out. So far, I hacked it and I even stole this one guy's:
•serial #'s for his applications
•a wish list of things he wants to buy
•list of books he wants to read
•travel itineraries
•photoshop tutorials
•driving directions
•prescription information
•Halloween costume ideas
I'm so set. - badtzmartin, on 11/21/2008, -1/+10Blows it out of the water for me.
I use it on iPhone, Windows Vista x64, and Mac OSX.
If I needed a Windows-only solution, then maybe OneNote would suffice.
And... I believe, if you're using OneNote, you can send notes to Evernote from within all the Office programs.
LOVE IT. - palmdoc, on 11/22/2008, -0/+8That's because the Notes function on the iPhone sucks.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 11/22/2008, -2/+6Evernote has become one of the most used programs, whether it be on my iPhone or my Mac, that I use all day. It is hand's down one of the most useful apps out there.
At first I didn't really know how I would use it but now I have a hard time picturing my life being nearly as productive without it. - TimmyGUNZ, on 11/22/2008, -1/+5Enjoy my info. There's nothing I keep in there that I would be afraid of people taking anyway.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 11/22/2008, -1/+5Let's see...
I personally use it to store:
•serial #'s for applications
•a wish list of things I want to buy
•list of books I want to read
•travel itineraries
•photoshop tutorials
•driving directions
•prescription information
•Halloween costume ideas
...I literally could go on and on! - TimmyGUNZ, on 11/22/2008, -0/+4Well that would suck. I don't want to show up at a party dressed in the same costume as Swass. (But he probably doesn't go to parties much anyway if he's hacking Evernote accounts so I should be okay.)
- piznut, on 11/22/2008, -0/+3Thats a really cool solution!
- inactive, on 11/22/2008, -1/+4Because people "dugg" the story. When a story is "dugg" a lot it will appear on the front page. Are you new to the Digg internet website? Welcome :)
- inactive, on 11/22/2008, -1/+3Oh no, not my halloween costume ideas!
- piznut, on 11/22/2008, -1/+3It seems to me that a large portion of Evernote's usefulness has to do with the ability to store clipboard contents. So I guess my question is, how does it work on the iPhone?
- barkerja, on 11/21/2008, -1/+3I have Evernote on the iPhone, Mac, etc. but still trying to find my "niche." It'd be great to hear from people here how exactly they use it.
I use it maybe once or twice a week, primarily as picture notes. For ex: When I go to Best Buy I'll snap shots of prices and then use them for comparison online or if they go up/down in the week. - coldkill3r, on 11/21/2008, -1/+3How does evernote compare to microsoft's OneNote?
- asiarock, on 11/22/2008, -0/+2Evernote is hands-down the best app on my iPhone. I use it every day!
- TimmyGUNZ, on 11/22/2008, -0/+2You can email stuff to a special Evernote address and it goes right into the program. Just take a screenshot of something on the iPhone and mail it to Evernote and it's OCR makes it searchable.
- streak, on 11/22/2008, -1/+3May 29th, eh? The iTunes app store wasn't open until July 11th.
- RyomaNagare, on 11/22/2008, -0/+2I tried using once as a replacement for the default notes app on the iphone sadly i got a call in the middle of writing something ad lost it.. that was the last time i tried it, did they fix that?
- BRODEL, on 11/22/2008, -1/+2I just started having problems with evernote on the iPhone.
Every note says it can't be edited on the iPhone, only appended to because it contains styles or text the iphone can't use.. but I created all those notes on the iPhone.. :(
Still love the app, just not sure what is causing this. - coldkill3r, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1...?
- thechosen, on 11/22/2008, -1/+2Instead of snapping shots, you should give "Save Benjis" a try. You can type in the ISBN or the product itself and it will look up competitive prices online and give you an idea of how much you should be paying for it.
Your way works too, but if you need to know right then and there, try Benjis*.
*I am not a developer, and yes, that is a cheesy line. - TimmyGUNZ, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1Have you edited them at all on the desktop or web app after creating them on the iPhone? Usually when there is any type of text decoration it renders them un-editable. (Something I hope they change soon.)
- lougoose, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1For me, mostly receipts. I scan stuff (sometimes), some screenshots of receipts (from Woot, eBay, etc.).
Sometimes homework sheets, stuff like that.
I can't say I actually add new notes more than probably 1 per day (if even that), but still nice way to keep track of everything.
Go check out the Evernote forums to see how people use it. There are also solutions posted for getting things into Evernote quickly, which is really nice. - BRODEL, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1Some of them I have, so that is understandable, but as a test I created one on the iPhone, let it sync and then went right back in to it and tried to edit it and it gave me that same message.
- Visarga, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1Tried it right now, doesn't recognize any words from the image snapshots I sent either by iPhone or iSight cam (or screen shot for that matter - maybe it is overloaded and didn't have yet the time to do the OCR). Web clippings do not retain the originating URL. Sync is slooow. Otherwise, the idea is great. I've been searching for a way to collect all the bits and pieces of stuff I like and have them with me, in a portable, searchable format. I would like to have the tagging function on Google Books so I can annotate.
- dalesmatrix, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1evernote would be far more useful if it worked like the desktop app and kept ALL your notes locally (rather than just *'d ones), the nsync them periodically. Then it'd be useful for me, waiting for ever for my 3G connection to access the note really takes the shine off of the experience for me.
- johnny81, on 02/15/2009, -0/+0thats great
http://www.linkbuilderz.com/ - inactive, on 11/23/2008, -0/+0It looks like the reviews are mixed. Has there been any word about how future version of the app will account for the reported security and recognition issues?
- iPanda, on 11/22/2008, -1/+1nvm
- LanceUppercut, on 11/22/2008, -1/+1a real man would post these details. I am dying to know his list of books he wants to read.

- inactive, on 11/22/2008, -2/+1But he'd also have driving directions to your party; he could go there wearing the same Halloween costume as you - you'd be so embarrassed!
- kefland, on 11/22/2008, -2/+1Tried it, and honestly, not that impressed.
- geogray, on 11/22/2008, -3/+0It doesn't. OneNote is far more versatile and way more usable. Evernote USED to be a good product, but since they tacked on the god-awful web crap, they stripped out it's best features, namely templates. If it were not for the iPhone users, it probably would have died since they managed to alienate those of us who used it early on. I've gone back EverNote 2.2 and use OneNote primarily. OneNote simply blows it out of the water. OneNote's ability to index audio and video as well as images is handy and to be able to sync it around-flawlessly and without having to jump through hoops-is huge. OneNote is also very extensible. Far better product.
- bakingoven, on 11/22/2008, -8/+1Why is this on digg front page?
