- thecompkid, on 10/10/2007, -29/+69How you could spend $600 on a phone and still admit you're not satisfied, however, is another story.
- ericatha, on 10/10/2007, -15/+53After having the iPhone for about a month and a half I have to say it's the best phone I've ever owned and it was completely worth the money. And with the new apps that have been popping up, I'm even more satisfied, especially since I accepted the fact that there may not be any. I can't wait till the next gen comes...
- Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -2/+28It's not the first $600 phone, by any stretch.
I love the way peoples argument is that nobody would admit it was ***** after paying that price. Maybe it's not ***** people. - HypocriteDigg, on 10/10/2007, -12/+32Hey what a surprise to see all of the jealous anti-Apple zealots coming here to post.
BTW the iPhone is awesome and if people are not satisfied with it, they have 14 days to figure that out. So the 'admitting something I just paid $600 is not satisfactory' excuse is ***** stupid. - err404, on 10/10/2007, -3/+22Why do people who don't have the device feel so driven to convince the satisfied consumers that it sucks?
Maybe, just maybe everyone is saying that they like their iPhone because it is a good device! This possibility tends to be ignored to frequently. - ZennZero, on 10/10/2007, -4/+22I readily admit I am not satisfied with AT&T. They have bungled (so far) my activation, my billing and my statement within the span of less than 2 months. Oh, and I just *loved* waiting on hold for hours to get these issues corrected. Also, their coverage is mediocre (I am being charitable) and EDGE latency is painful.
The actual iPhone hardware is very, very good. The service Apple chose to bind itself to, however, leaves a great deal to be desired. I hope I am through the worst of it. - eneshelon, on 10/10/2007, -36/+54if the phone sucked, after paying 600 bucks, ide still say it was the most amazing phone in existence to justify my overly retarded spending habits.
- mstachiw, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19In later news mansion owners are very happy with their homes. First class travelers enjoy their flights more. Ferrari owners are generally content with their transportation vehicles.
- jthomp, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19I'm not surprised actually, I have really thoroughly enjoyed my iPhone. And with a little hacking (carefully, of course) I've been able to add other features to it. Definitely looking forward to getting an official SDK and working on my own apps for it.
- TheMidnight, on 10/10/2007, -4/+20I love my iPhone. The best part about it is to be able to look up a store or restaurant in Google maps, tap it to get the address and phone number, and then tapping the phone number to call them to ask a question.
- OHiggins, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19can definitely say i'm satisfied with mine and I'm not even an iFanBoy. Despite digg's constant "WRRYYYY WHY IS THIS POPULAR 600 DOLLARS BAWWWW" it's actually a decent piece of gadgetry and I don't regret dropping the cash on it.
- 5wallace, on 10/10/2007, -5/+19Any person that lists not being able to record video as a cell phone's greatest weakness is a retard.
- Wargalas, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Are you satisfied with it?
- jfrogthepoliwog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Although I find that I need a couple more features, overall this product has far exceeded my expectations. The fact that I have been let down over and over by POS phones for the past 10 years, probably has a lot to do with the fact that I smile at my iphone.
- totorototoro, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15I'm extremely satisfied with my iPhone..but I'm sure a part of the phone satisfaction is the incredibly crappy phones I've had in the past (Moto RAZR v.1, a Sony-Ericsson, and a couple low end Nokias). It IS the best iPod I've ever owned.
- superkendall, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14That's ridiculous - if I pay a lot of money for something, and it does not come close to expectations that means I scream LOUDER about how bad it is. If some cheapo $20 thing doesn't work, who cares? But when a lot of money is at stake if it doesn't work I will go to great lengths to tell everyone and write the BBB and comment on blogs and review sites about how poor it is, in revenge for that company having shafted me. As an example I am quite happy to tell people just how much I despise the RAZR as a phone, which I bought at full price so I could use on a pay-as-you go plan.
It just so happens, the iPhone does meet expectations. - badjoke, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14I'd much rather have my iPhone than a PS3.
- Salgat, on 10/10/2007, -20/+32Good, for $600 I'd expect the same.
- dignon, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14Wow, what a bunch of cynics here. Heaven forbid if you actually had to admit that Apple got it right with the iPhone, on their first attempt, and that the people that *actually use the device* agree. Oh no, that would just be too outrageous for your little minds to comprehend.
- ChunkerMunker, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15FALSE!!!!
Most Apple users are even MORE critical of Apple than non Apple users. Sure there's some apologists, but for the most part, they are even pickier and expect more from Apple and their products than anything.
Why do you think the attention to every lil detail? We expect nothing but the best, and we will cry and bitch if we don't get it. Go look around on Apple forums, blogs and sites if you don't believe me. Apple fanboys tend to be extremely critical, if you were gonna spend money on something that claims is the best......you expect the best. - noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -8/+18Right because there is no way in hell it is just a good product. You and the ***** pack of morons that dugg you up are the only fanboys I ever see. It is really sad that you care enough about this to try and bash it even when it is proven to be a good thing.
- waterdrop, on 10/10/2007, -16/+26I'm happy with my LG VX8300, but no one asked me if I was satisfied with it.
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10You're a bit stupid then, if I paid $600 for something that didn't work worth a ***** I'd go get my money back.
- HypocriteDigg, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Looks like you typed this on whatever phone you ended up going with, right?
- willgonz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Ok I love my iPhone. The $600 doesn't mean much to me because I make that much for 8 hours of side job contract money. The phone is nice, but not perfect. Software updates that enable features like games would be cool. Overall I really like the phone, the internet and videos on it. Sure, you can't copy and paste but I'll leave that for my computer.
- danielsousa, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Yeah, because people shoot high quality HD video on their phones now.
- yeahbuddy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Because no one cares.
Sorry. - Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7"If the phone sucked, after paying 600 bucks, ide still say it was the most amazing phone in existence to justify my overly retarded spending habits."
Time and time again people say this, but none of these folks actually own the phone. The iPhone is cool, but a lot of people just don't want to admit it. Heck, if Chris Pirillo says it's cool, then that's saying a lot. - Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8It's not. It's far from perfect, but it's still the best device in it's class that I've ever touched. I'm very happy with mine, but I'll be the first to admit that there are a lot of places that Apple could improve things (both minor and major changes) to make it an even better product. While it lacks some features, it presents what it has in a way where they're all very accessible and you actually use them.
- illcendiary, on 10/10/2007, -9/+15Why not mention that they only surveyed 74 people? There's going to be a lot of variance with that small of a sample size; hell, if you asked 74 people if they were satisfied with their AT&T service there's a good chance 77% would be satisfied as well.
Well, maybe not that last part, but you get the point. - betasp, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Dugg down because you can't write, period.
- dmax801, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Love my iPhone. But, even better, is that everyone that I show it to loves it as well. And so they love me, right?
Well, anyway, it's a great multi-tasking product: camera, maps, email, web, phone, iPod, note-taking. That's worth the money right there. Of course, I'm also hoping that a firmware upgrade will add even more. You can always add more buttons when there's no fixed button structure. - tzon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5moot.
- Wargalas, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I'll take the Ranch, but you won't get much for $600.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Such an angry little boy. You should find a less destructive way to get rid of those jealous rages.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5So you refuse to try something cause your "leet" friends might laugh at you? Is that it? Why not try something new just because it's new and judge it for yourself.
- devoss, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5"I can't wait till the next gen comes"
And as an Apple stock holder, neither can I. - MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6No you didn't, but you are probably unhappy. My guess would be that it's your overall lack of a personality that does it. You getting up every morning is a foolish decision as well.
- Jrr6415sun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I bought the iphone and signed up for the pay as you go plan. I was only planning on having it for a month.. I just paid for my second month, and I don't see why I wouldn't pay for my third. It's definitely the best phone i've ever had.
If I didn't like it, I could easily put it on ebay or craigslist and get most of my money back. - theworldisflat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5You mean the report that was debunked already? No... the screens aren't flawed and vulnerable to oils/chems on users fingers.
- edvas, on 10/10/2007, -5/+10just look at the reviews on apple's online store items. Something wrong with your particular product? Then it must be something wrong with _you_
That's absolutely retarded - noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6So you WERE happy with your iPhone but you weren't happy with AT&T is what you were trying to say.
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Hardly. Digg is too skewed of an audience to get any valid observations about the public's view of the iPhone. Half the people where I work don't know what the hell it is. A few want one, and the several who I've let play with mine seem happy, interested, or impressed. Digg, on the other hand, is full of extremists that have to always be right no matter how baseless their "facts" or opinions are, and most of the ones complaining about the iPhone seem to have never used one.
If comments were "I've played with an iPhone at the Apple store/of a friend/whatever. I didn't like it, for X reason" then I'd say fair enough. I know someone in that exact position - he has a Blackberry, and thought the virtual keyboard was too hokey after playing around with one. I told him that the auto-correct works surprisingly well and that I type as inaccurately as he does and he should give it another try, and he said he would. He's not determined to hate the thing, nor is he determined to love it. He wants to see if it fulfills his needs and does so for a price that he can justify, just like 98% of the world.
Just like the new thin Apple keyboard. I was skeptical - but didn't dismiss it as a piece of *****. I played around with one, thought it had potential, saw absolutely no reason to replace my existing keyboard, but wouldn't gripe about one coming with a new Mac. I thought it was a bit awkward, but no more so than any other keyboard I've used while standing up, because that's always a weird angle that you're forced to endure when at a store as compared to sitting down with it in front of you.
Most people are very logical and sensible in this regard. Digg is just full of very loud people from the extreme of both ends (just like the rest of the media that they enjoy bashing so much for exactly the same reason). - Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Uhh, no. I'm extremely satisified with my iPhone. My MBP has always left me with a slightly bitter taste as far as hardware goes - I was much happier with the hardware of my school-lent Thinkpad (which I put OS X on, and made it practically perfect). It's been out for repairs twice, and will be headed out again in the next couple days as the line-out/headphone jack just died last night on it. There's dust under the screen that showed up when it was out for service the first time (where they failed to fix the original problem), and there are some extremely stupid physical design flaws. Like, for instance, not having a rounded edge where most people rest their wrists. It looks cleaner, but is incredibly ***** uncomfortable (and scratched to hell from wearing a watch).
I love Apple software. I love my iPhone's hardware. When I used a Macbook briefly, I liked it more than my MBP as far as actual usability goes (and it got the job done as far as specs go, though it's graphics card will probably hold it back come Leopard). I've never used an Apple desktop for any length of time, but I can choose my own monitor, keyboard, and mouse (I'll keep well away from the abysmal piece of ***** that is the Mighty Mouse), which are the only parts that I actually interact with. Apple made some stupid usability compromises to improve looks that, while reasonable on a desktop system, leave you wondering what the hell they were thinking when on a laptop. Like the wrist rest, which has been annoying me since day one for the last 15 months or so.
If that makes me a fanboy, so be it. I know what I like about their products, and what drives me nuts. I'll admit both. Nothing of theirs is perfect, but the iPhone is absolutely one of the best things to come out of Cupertino that I've used or owned. - asjk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yes I love the phone and when I hand it to others to play with for a few minutes they immediately grasp the power and esthetics of the devices as well. I don't have to tell them how to take a picture or how to play a Youtube video. No manual required. It's typical Apple in that it lends itself to exploration in an elegant way.
- scottjl, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8i'm happy with mine..
- superkendall, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Like we've been using something for months that worked great while you saved $100 for a less functional product with the same screen?
- unbreakable, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4From the article:
"Of course, in the case of new iPhone owners there is always the potential for bias, as we're speaking with people who were already favorably predisposed toward the gadget – otherwise they wouldn't have rushed right out to get it.
But offsetting this potential bias is the fact that ChangeWave Alliance members tend to be harsh critics of technologies which fail to live up to their expectations. They’re a tough crowd of business and technology early adopters. So even though these are the first wave of buyers, there's a high likelihood their opinions are based on the real world merits and flaws of the iPhone." - iMaciMan1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Jesus people, its a $600 phone, we all know that but you dont have to be a apple fanboy to like a good product. My stepdad bought an iPhone and he is neither an apple fanboy (he's actually a windows fanboy) or an overspender. So what im saying is get a product if you like it and think its worth it, don't ***** on the ones that get it for crying out loud.
- ChunkerMunker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6EXACTLY!!!!
Some people are just looking to discredit the reports.
Its not a coincidence, that almost every single poll I've seen, has the same results. Sure there some aspects of the phone they'd change. But overall, it seems to be that, over 85% are happy with their Iphone. -
