- Salgat, on 10/10/2007, -20/+32Good, for $600 I'd expect the same.
- Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -2/+28It's not the first $600 phone, by any stretch.
I love the way peoples argument is that nobody would admit it was ***** after paying that price. Maybe it's not ***** people.- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8It's not. It's far from perfect, but it's still the best device in it's class that I've ever touched. I'm very happy with mine, but I'll be the first to admit that there are a lot of places that Apple could improve things (both minor and major changes) to make it an even better product. While it lacks some features, it presents what it has in a way where they're all very accessible and you actually use them.
- Jrr6415sun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I bought the iphone and signed up for the pay as you go plan. I was only planning on having it for a month.. I just paid for my second month, and I don't see why I wouldn't pay for my third. It's definitely the best phone i've ever had.
If I didn't like it, I could easily put it on ebay or craigslist and get most of my money back. - TypeEE, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3seriously, that phone has shortcoming, but it's by far the most capable one on the market. You can hardly browse with the windows mobile.
- batmant, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I think it's a bit of a misleading statistic. More so than any other phone, we (the tech savy) knew whether or not we'd buy one without ever reading a review. Of course Aunt Betty who saw the commercials in early June is happy with her iPhone. Anyone who would give the iPhone a less than A+ rating didn't buy one and is waiting for version 2.
- Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -2/+28It's not the first $600 phone, by any stretch.
- thecompkid, on 10/10/2007, -29/+69How you could spend $600 on a phone and still admit you're not satisfied, however, is another story.
- ZennZero, on 10/10/2007, -4/+22I readily admit I am not satisfied with AT&T. They have bungled (so far) my activation, my billing and my statement within the span of less than 2 months. Oh, and I just *loved* waiting on hold for hours to get these issues corrected. Also, their coverage is mediocre (I am being charitable) and EDGE latency is painful.
The actual iPhone hardware is very, very good. The service Apple chose to bind itself to, however, leaves a great deal to be desired. I hope I am through the worst of it.- LoudNoise, on 10/10/2007, -9/+3You aren't.
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2As a fellow iPhone owner, I quite agree. My activation was a mess, but that was a one-time problem. It's done, over, and dealt with, and I should never have that issue again. Aside from a couple software bugs that either have been fixed (in 1.0.1) or will be shortly, it's a fantastic device. EDGE isn't unbearably slow unless you're in a place with one signal bar, though it certainly leaves a lot to be desired as far as speed goes.
But in honesty, my experience is that I'd rather have AT&T's slow EDGE network than ever having to deal with Verizon again. All phone companies suck; it's a fact of life. At work, signal is great, and it provides me a way to get around their firewall (which, aside from some sites as a whole, causes serious AJAX issues). Having Google Maps in my pocket has been a great asset, as has Safari - even when on the slow EDGE network.
It's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. There are still some software bugs, inconsistencies, and oddities. I can't quickly scroll down long websites in the same way that I can with my song and contact lists with the right side "jump area". No copy and paste, though it's not as if my old phone had that (or anything other than the most basic talk, text, and camera abilities) either. Most issues WILL be fixed in software updates, and I'm extremely confident that Apple will allow third party software soon (even if they don't give it full hardware access, i.e. MobileSkype.app) - probably shortly before or shortly after Leopard's release.
- fr0ng, on 10/10/2007, -10/+5I didn't pay a penny for my iPhone, and I'm extremley satisfied with it. I just wish the battery life would last a bit longer...but hey, nothing is perfect and this phone is the best thing since sliced bread. NOTHING on the market can compare to the iPhones awesome screen, web browser, mp3 capabilities...the list goes on and on...and the software updates are going to keep coming, which will just add new features to the Jesus phone.
- Glugory, on 10/10/2007, -11/+6I'm glad someone already posted what I was planning on posting. Polls like these are ***** stupid. Personally, I dugg down the article as inaccurate.
- Mejogid, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4That's actually why this kind of survey is generally disregarded for anything meaningful - Net Promoter Scores (asking people about chance of recommending rather than satisfaction) or more in depth surveys are generally considered to be the only statistically significant way of getting useful opinion ratings in cooperate management and investing firms.
- gordeaoux, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3FTA: "Question Asked: How likely are you to recommend the Apple iPhone to a friend or colleague? Very likely: 77%, Somewhat likely: 12%,...."
- superkendall, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4How could you spend $600 on a phone and be mad as hell if it didn't work right for you? The whole "justify your purchase" argument never made sense to me for anything, because if people don't like something they are all to happy to bitch at great lengths about it to whomever will listen.
- phuibonhoa, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1I think you have it backwards. The more money someone pays for a product, the more inclined he is to complain that he is not satisfied, simply because your expectations are a lot higher. Think about it, would you complain more about a crappy product if it was free or if you had to pay for it?
- lharrod, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Good point.
- eneshelon, on 10/10/2007, -36/+54if the phone sucked, after paying 600 bucks, ide still say it was the most amazing phone in existence to justify my overly retarded spending habits.
- TheHydrogens, on 10/10/2007, -9/+4And that, my friend, is called cognitive dissonance. I'm sure that played a pretty decent sized role for all of these people that got a phone instead of a PS3... or like thirty $20 hookers.
- badjoke, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14I'd much rather have my iPhone than a PS3.
- fxspec06, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1If I paid $600 for my chocolate phone, I'd have to say I'd be dissapointed. But I wouldn't pay $600 for it to begin with, so my point is mute.
- xornor, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1mute?
- tzon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5moot.
- Automatt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Your point is moo. Like, a cow's opinion? It's moo.
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10You're a bit stupid then, if I paid $600 for something that didn't work worth a ***** I'd go get my money back.
- Pikachelsea, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1SARCASM ALERT! I'm pretty sure eneschelon was joking.
- superkendall, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14That's ridiculous - if I pay a lot of money for something, and it does not come close to expectations that means I scream LOUDER about how bad it is. If some cheapo $20 thing doesn't work, who cares? But when a lot of money is at stake if it doesn't work I will go to great lengths to tell everyone and write the BBB and comment on blogs and review sites about how poor it is, in revenge for that company having shafted me. As an example I am quite happy to tell people just how much I despise the RAZR as a phone, which I bought at full price so I could use on a pay-as-you go plan.
It just so happens, the iPhone does meet expectations.- ChunkerMunker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6EXACTLY!!!!
Some people are just looking to discredit the reports.
Its not a coincidence, that almost every single poll I've seen, has the same results. Sure there some aspects of the phone they'd change. But overall, it seems to be that, over 85% are happy with their Iphone. - locojones, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3No you wouldn't. Get off Digg and take a psychology course, and learn about cognitive dissonance. You're nothing special, you'd rationalize your puchase too.
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2You are some sort of a ***** moron. That is the biggest load of ***** I have ever heard and is completely contrary to my experience.
- SenorCardgage74, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Isnt it possible, locojones that YOURE the one experiencing Cognitive Dissonance, seeing as how you seem to have such a raging hardon for the iPhone to fail?
- ChunkerMunker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6EXACTLY!!!!
- xornor, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7doesn't make sense. i dropped $600 on my iphone because i can. why would i complain any more or less than someone making less money who spent $60 on a phone? i paid full unsubsidized price for my last "top-of-the-line" moto and before that nokia, and neither remotely compares to the iphone. even the newer unreleased phones i played with at the gsm world conference don't compare. apple has made the "feature list" irrelevant.
- Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7"If the phone sucked, after paying 600 bucks, ide still say it was the most amazing phone in existence to justify my overly retarded spending habits."
Time and time again people say this, but none of these folks actually own the phone. The iPhone is cool, but a lot of people just don't want to admit it. Heck, if Chris Pirillo says it's cool, then that's saying a lot.- eneshelon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2oh ps... i own the phone and love it, it was a joke. "simma down now"
- Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Who me? I'm as came as an antelope in an empty forest.
Good cover-up attempt by the way.
- Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Who me? I'm as came as an antelope in an empty forest.
- eneshelon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2oh ps... i own the phone and love it, it was a joke. "simma down now"
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You're just silly, then. I'd be much more likely to try justifying a cheap piece of crap than something expensive. There's a difference between wasting your money and something not meeting expectations. If you drop $600 on a phone, you have high expectations for it. If you spend $25 on an ugly case, you were just being dumb. If I bought a car that turned out to be a piece, I'd let everyone know so they don't make the same mistake. But I'd probably try to talk someone else into buying that same ugly case just so I don't look as stupid.
Play with an iPhone before making stupid comments. I was very skeptical up until I actually used one - it looked too good to be true. I went into an Apple store ready to buy one if it met my expectations after demoing it. It did, and now I own one. I'm very happy with it. It's not perfect, but I'd still recommend it to anyone who asks - and have done so on several occasions. If someone was serious about buying one and wanted my advice, I'd let them know of the few minor issues I've come across, but point out that they'll be fixed at some point with a software patch. If one of those minor issues was a deal-breaker, I'd let them know but let that person know once it gets fixed. Safari was pretty unstable at launch, but with the 1.0.1 patch it's much better; almost everything else are just little inconsistencies and quirks ("Share" should be "E-mail" or have more options, some buttons are in different locations in different apps, nothing major).
- TheHydrogens, on 10/10/2007, -9/+4And that, my friend, is called cognitive dissonance. I'm sure that played a pretty decent sized role for all of these people that got a phone instead of a PS3... or like thirty $20 hookers.

Sorry.
- ericatha, on 10/10/2007, -15/+53After having the iPhone for about a month and a half I have to say it's the best phone I've ever owned and it was completely worth the money. And with the new apps that have been popping up, I'm even more satisfied, especially since I accepted the fact that there may not be any. I can't wait till the next gen comes...

Oh, and as the punchline you're calling the prostitutes 'iGal'! Unfortunately, you either can't speak English, or are 'mentally retarded'. Geeze. I think that's the meanest comment I've ever posted. Oh well. I should be allowed the luxury, since that's the lamest comment I've ever seen (here). Oh well, too late anyway. Only sixty seconds left now...

- danielsousa, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Yeah, because people shoot high quality HD video on their phones now.
- naio, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2Yes, they do. See www.nseries.com and learn how to develop a decent hardware.
- jaisin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2The Nseries sucks. I cam from an N80 and N800. I never shot video on my N80 because it was pointless. By decent hardware you must mean buggy hardware. The N80s battery barely made it through a day, and all the apps on the N800 crashed. Nokia can't make good apps at all, the RSS reader crashed, the e-mail client crashed, the browser crashed. No wonder they neeed third party because unlike the iPhone, they can't get it right ther first time.
- naio, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2Yes, they do. See www.nseries.com and learn how to develop a decent hardware.
- podgey22, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3In reply to the two idiots saying "nobody uses their phone for video":
It's a six ***** hundred dollar phone. You'd expect something as basic as being able to record and MMS video would be there as it's a feature I've had on my phones for the past 3 years. I also know plenty of people -- myself included -- who use that sort of functionality. - KaiserAce, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You are seriously retarded. Yes, it's something that Apple should have included, but to make that the failing point proves you're just trying to bash it. Have you actually tried it? For the features it does have, it's great. I'm no fanboy - I think Apple made many missteps in the creation of this phone (including forcing you to choose AT&T, no MMS and quite a few other things) - but when a device is solid, you can't complain. No video...what are you going to record? Your favorite clips from the Spice Girls concert you attended?
- Tobark, on 10/10/2007, -21/+8I wasent. I returned them .I had two, a his and hers . Hers kept black screening. I tried the resotre, no go. JUst abaut everything I could find. My phone was awsome and I loved it. Im sure they would have replace hers but...
AtnT sucks in my area. I was warned before I got them from co-workers. Droped calls, terrible reception.

Well, maybe not that last part, but you get the point.- ChunkerMunker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Yet....I've seen other polls on various different sites that have similar results, out of hundreds polled.

///thinks you're a douchebag- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Hardly. Digg is too skewed of an audience to get any valid observations about the public's view of the iPhone. Half the people where I work don't know what the hell it is. A few want one, and the several who I've let play with mine seem happy, interested, or impressed. Digg, on the other hand, is full of extremists that have to always be right no matter how baseless their "facts" or opinions are, and most of the ones complaining about the iPhone seem to have never used one.
If comments were "I've played with an iPhone at the Apple store/of a friend/whatever. I didn't like it, for X reason" then I'd say fair enough. I know someone in that exact position - he has a Blackberry, and thought the virtual keyboard was too hokey after playing around with one. I told him that the auto-correct works surprisingly well and that I type as inaccurately as he does and he should give it another try, and he said he would. He's not determined to hate the thing, nor is he determined to love it. He wants to see if it fulfills his needs and does so for a price that he can justify, just like 98% of the world.
Just like the new thin Apple keyboard. I was skeptical - but didn't dismiss it as a piece of *****. I played around with one, thought it had potential, saw absolutely no reason to replace my existing keyboard, but wouldn't gripe about one coming with a new Mac. I thought it was a bit awkward, but no more so than any other keyboard I've used while standing up, because that's always a weird angle that you're forced to endure when at a store as compared to sitting down with it in front of you.
Most people are very logical and sensible in this regard. Digg is just full of very loud people from the extreme of both ends (just like the rest of the media that they enjoy bashing so much for exactly the same reason).- kolywater, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2so true. where have all the logical, reasonable digg users gone? oh that's right, most of us don't post comments anymore because there's no worthwhile discussion to be had anymore.

- lharrod, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0The fact that people don't like what I like doesn't equal "jealous." We're talking about all the venomous posters that can and will never accept the fact that the iPhone is actually a solid product. Perfect? No. But it's a solid product that its users really like. No amount of hateful comments will change that.

Seriously though -- if the iPhone is as successful as it looks like its going to be, it will have been a ground-breaking product release. Admittedly not on the scale of the wheel or fire, but certainly an important product in the continued evolution of communications. Get over it.

- OMOOMO, on 10/10/2007, -12/+5Of course they are satisfied...they don't want to appear as duped for paying $600 clams for a phone. It's called a self-fulfilling prophecy.
- jfrogthepoliwog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Although I find that I need a couple more features, overall this product has far exceeded my expectations. The fact that I have been let down over and over by POS phones for the past 10 years, probably has a lot to do with the fact that I smile at my iphone.
- skyscape, on 10/10/2007, -11/+3something seems iPhony here.
- OHiggins, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19can definitely say i'm satisfied with mine and I'm not even an iFanBoy. Despite digg's constant "WRRYYYY WHY IS THIS POPULAR 600 DOLLARS BAWWWW" it's actually a decent piece of gadgetry and I don't regret dropping the cash on it.
- sekhui, on 10/10/2007, -10/+4you guys were happy with your mighty mice too.
- berad, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Uh, no.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Read the reviews at the Apple store. They aren't very good overall.
Sorry, this was a reply to sekhui
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Read the reviews at the Apple store. They aren't very good overall.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Despise the mighty mouse, didn't buy an iPhone. Do I have to turn in my Apple fanboy club card? Nah, I guess you're just a troll. Enjoying Apple products doesn't mean we have to go out and buy everything made by the company. Trolling Apple articles to put in a stupid comment about a mouse shows how very little you know.
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Wow, a Digg Mafia member complaining about TROLLING??? ROFL!!!!
- berad, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Uh, no.
- xatx2, on 10/10/2007, -12/+5i bought an iphone and am incredibly unhappy. it was a very foolish decision
- AfterTen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Then return it. Problem solved.
- ShutYourPieHole, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Its a survey on satisfaction but those that are unsatisfied are unable to voice their opinions? Puts on interesting spin on the numbers, doesn't it?
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1It's a survey for people that actually owned the phone. This guy is just lying. ˙ʎɹoʇsıɥ ƃuıʇsod sıɥ ʞɔǝɥɔ
- ShutYourPieHole, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Its a survey on satisfaction but those that are unsatisfied are unable to voice their opinions? Puts on interesting spin on the numbers, doesn't it?
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6No you didn't, but you are probably unhappy. My guess would be that it's your overall lack of a personality that does it. You getting up every morning is a foolish decision as well.
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Amazing, a Digg Mafia member getting dug up after insulting another poster. Shocking I SAY!
- AfterTen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Then return it. Problem solved.
- TheMidnight, on 10/10/2007, -4/+20I love my iPhone. The best part about it is to be able to look up a store or restaurant in Google maps, tap it to get the address and phone number, and then tapping the phone number to call them to ask a question.
- locojones, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2Shut the hell up, you mean just like how every other cell phone with internet access works to do the same thing?
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3So basically like any phone from verizon with the vz navigator app... Only those have gps built in, and (thanks to the iphone) the vz navigator application is now free. Only I don't have to type seafood. I just select restaurants then seafood then the restaurant with the dpad. Then I press dial.
And the directions work really well. And they correct themselves if you make a wrong turn.- superkendall, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Someone who just doesn't understand what having real maps all the time is all about. Can you scroll around the whole city and see seafood restaurants in context for where you are scrolling?
I don't need GPS because I know where I am. I can also figure out how to get somewhere given a map, and don't generally need turn by turn directions (though the iPhone can do that too if you wish).- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Yeah, VZ Navigaor has real maps as well... And you can scroll around them quite efficiently with the dpad.
No, the turn by turn directions on the iPhone are not the same thing as having a voice read the directions out loud guided by GPS, automatically recomputing directions if you miss a turn...
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Yeah, VZ Navigaor has real maps as well... And you can scroll around them quite efficiently with the dpad.
- cthellis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0VZ Navigator is excellent, and very handy. Google Maps, of course, rocks the house too. I like using Google better, and the visual interface is certainly better... but neither solution is perfect. (Especially since VZN has a subscription fee. Hence I don't keep it active, but only use it if I'm WAY out of town.)
Once the Google Maps app can tie in GPS navigation support (and the iPhone gets a proper GPS unit, of course), I'll be a happy camper. ^_^- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1VZ Navigator is free now.
- superkendall, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Someone who just doesn't understand what having real maps all the time is all about. Can you scroll around the whole city and see seafood restaurants in context for where you are scrolling?
- TypeEE, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You point out exactly where the flaw is, no GPS
- drudebaker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I agree completely! Ive used my iPhone for on-the-go restaurant reservations lots of times already! Love the iphone.
- totorototoro, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15I'm extremely satisfied with my iPhone..but I'm sure a part of the phone satisfaction is the incredibly crappy phones I've had in the past (Moto RAZR v.1, a Sony-Ericsson, and a couple low end Nokias). It IS the best iPod I've ever owned.
- Warptera, on 10/10/2007, -17/+5Of course they're satisfied. Probably 90% of the early adopters were rabid Apple fanboys.
- unbreakable, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4From the article:
"Of course, in the case of new iPhone owners there is always the potential for bias, as we're speaking with people who were already favorably predisposed toward the gadget – otherwise they wouldn't have rushed right out to get it.
But offsetting this potential bias is the fact that ChangeWave Alliance members tend to be harsh critics of technologies which fail to live up to their expectations. They’re a tough crowd of business and technology early adopters. So even though these are the first wave of buyers, there's a high likelihood their opinions are based on the real world merits and flaws of the iPhone."
- unbreakable, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4From the article:
- HappyScrappy, on 10/10/2007, -11/+4People always rate stuff up if they spent more for it. To do otherwise is to admit to yourself you wasted money.
One of my friends will tell you he's "very happy" and yet he constantly asks me how to get it to work correctly with his Acura TL, or how to exchange contacts with me various other things his previous awful Motorol SLVR did just fine. And I have to repeatedly tell him the iPhone can't do that (at least not yet).
Some people are happy simply because they don't know better.- headhunterMDK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Works just fine with my volvo. Bluetooth AND the integrated iPod Adapter. Now I just need one device instead of two.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No, it doesn't. It cannot, as the iPhone doesn't do sync of contacts over bluetooth.
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1You know, I just go to my Verizon web page and it has all my stuff there. NO NEED TO SYNC, it just works. So Im not sure that any form of syncing on the iPhone would be an improvement. It seems like it should all be transparent.
Why, my music even automatically appears on my computer if I buy a song from my phone. Again, no need to sync. So I am wondering what all the hullabaloo is about iPhones or iPods and syncing... Other companies already have better solutions.

Businesspeople Face Steep Learning Curve With iPhone
InformationWeek - Aug 16, 2007
Most participants complained that their fingers were too large for the iPhone touch keyboard, and more than half preferred the feel of an actual key, a new survey reveals.- OHiggins, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4A group of people, half of which have sausage fingers. Good job Sherlock.
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Most people I work with have sausage fingers. Hell, my typing accuracy is awful on my iPhone, and I have very small fingers relative to most people. But the software correction works very well, at least most of the time. Not perfect, but very well. I still prefer a normal keyboard if I'm going to type out a long message, but I can type out a full, coherent response to a message (ie, multiple paragraphs) on the thing if I want to, and reasonably quickly unless I'm using all sorts of odd terminology (like work-related abbreviations or stuff with a lot of punctuation). No, it doesn't do an on-the-fly grammar check to determine whether you wanted "its" or "it's", but it still inserts apostrophes in many common words (dont->don't) or capitalizes acronyms (mls->MLS). If you don't have "sent from my iPhone" in your signature, people could easily have no idea unless you're just damn lazy about it.
- AfterTen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Or this could have been titled... "New study shows people don't like change."
- jdoo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3LOL fat people!!!!
- cthellis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0The study highlights the difficulty of initial adaption, which everyone and their mother (and Steve Jobs and Jobs' mother) said they'd have. It was also involving people who texted frequently enough, and testing them coming new to the iPhone versus texting on THEIR OWN PHONE, which they were--of course--completely used to. (So not even and testing on an unfamiliar phone using a similar method.) The result is... of course... a big "duh!"
Of course pretty much everyone who used an iPhone over an extended period (rather than six text messages worth) has said they become completely used to it, and are on average just the same or even a little faster. (Though there are some nagging quirks.)
People are slower using that with which they are unfamiliar. News at 11:00.
- OHiggins, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4A group of people, half of which have sausage fingers. Good job Sherlock.
- Baryn, on 10/10/2007, -6/+5It probably has very little to do with the iPhone, and very much to do with the envious glances of onlookers when someone pulls out the device.
- Pikachelsea, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah, just keep thinking you're the prettiest girl at the ball and everyone is jealous of you. You sound like a guest on Maury. "Y'ALL JUST JEALOUS, SIT YOSELF DOWN"
- monsterofNone, on 10/10/2007, -10/+4iHoles.
- err404, on 10/10/2007, -3/+22Why do people who don't have the device feel so driven to convince the satisfied consumers that it sucks?
Maybe, just maybe everyone is saying that they like their iPhone because it is a good device! This possibility tends to be ignored to frequently.- BigCalhoun, on 10/10/2007, -7/+3The iPhone is a well marketed device. Fact is, a user has access to more functionality from a Treo or HTC device out of the box. It's an appealing product, don't get me wrong, but it lacks serious functionality. It's a silicon blow-up doll for all intents and purposes.
- danielwsmithee, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5It is not always as important what it does as how it does it. Sure there are many other phones on the market that "do" more, but none of them are as nice to use as the iPhone.
- headhunterMDK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Here's a question.. how many people who bought an iPhone had a Treo or HTC? Or did they have a nokia or "hello moto" razr?
- BigCalhoun, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2More than likely, they migrated from a Sidekick.
- superkendall, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Yes I could have bought a bought a Treo or 8525 (which I have had a chance to use) instead of an iPhone and have it do "more". But all that it did do, even the more, kind of sucked in many ways the iPhone does not. I would rather have a device that does the things I care about most really well, than have a device that does everything poorly.
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2It seems almost duplicitious that you would bash the VZ Navigator with out ever having tried it then complain about the same on the iPhone.
SOP for the Digg Mafia I guess. - lharrod, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I agree. I'd rather have 10 things done very well, things that I use most, than 50 things done poorly, most of them being things I'd never use. I think that was what Apple was thinking. The "missing features" were left out until they could better implement them. All hail Version 2.0 in the near future.
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2It seems almost duplicitious that you would bash the VZ Navigator with out ever having tried it then complain about the same on the iPhone.
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -5/+3Why do iPhone users seem so defensive about their purchase? Personally I was expecting a lot more iSmug than I have seen with the iPhone. Maybe it is ATT, maybe it is the failure of the hacking community to unlock the iPhone, I don't know. It certainly is not the paradigm changing device we were being sold prior to iPhone day.
Also, when are we going to get the press release that Apple sold their millionth iPhone? I know I was certainly expecting it before now. IT better come soon or that prediction of 3 million phones by the end of the year is going to be disastrously wrong.- headhunterMDK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I would be suprised if they didn't sell their one millionth iPhone soon..
- t3hX, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1>the failure of the hacking community to unlock the iPhone
Where have you been? - lharrod, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0A better question is why are non-iPhone users so determined to slam this product down? It's logical to defend something you have actually experienced and enjoy. It's illogical for someone to throw insults and assumptions out of ignorance.
- headhunterMDK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3or maybe the iPhone is better than what they had?
- ziedoros, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Sour grapes, that's why.
- BigCalhoun, on 10/10/2007, -7/+3The iPhone is a well marketed device. Fact is, a user has access to more functionality from a Treo or HTC device out of the box. It's an appealing product, don't get me wrong, but it lacks serious functionality. It's a silicon blow-up doll for all intents and purposes.
- ps3udov3ctor, on 10/10/2007, -12/+4apple fan boy chumps/posers/drones who bought an apple product rate it as best ever. that's certainly unusual.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Such an angry little boy. You should find a less destructive way to get rid of those jealous rages.
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Actually, you are part of the Digg mafia? I am curious... Is there a paycheck in it, or do you do it just for amature love?
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Such an angry little boy. You should find a less destructive way to get rid of those jealous rages.
- scottjl, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8i'm happy with mine..
- mstachiw, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19In later news mansion owners are very happy with their homes. First class travelers enjoy their flights more. Ferrari owners are generally content with their transportation vehicles.
- BigCalhoun, on 10/10/2007, -14/+4Would this be because a majority of iPhone users are bubbleheads who couldn't operate a toaster without instructions?
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You're clueless.
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I see the Digg mafia has finally arrived after being missing for some time:)
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You're clueless.
- dignon, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14Wow, what a bunch of cynics here. Heaven forbid if you actually had to admit that Apple got it right with the iPhone, on their first attempt, and that the people that *actually use the device* agree. Oh no, that would just be too outrageous for your little minds to comprehend.
- lharrod, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Thank you. I agree 100%. Everyone nitpicks this device and exaggerates every shortcoming. This is VERSION 1.0, people! How many V1's of any device have shook the world and had anything near this kind of functionality and feature set?
- dmax801, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Love my iPhone. But, even better, is that everyone that I show it to loves it as well. And so they love me, right?
Well, anyway, it's a great multi-tasking product: camera, maps, email, web, phone, iPod, note-taking. That's worth the money right there. Of course, I'm also hoping that a firmware upgrade will add even more. You can always add more buttons when there's no fixed button structure.- lharrod, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0That's the idea. With no fixed buttons, they can offer anything via software updates. The only reasons you'd need to buy Version 2.0 of the iPhone is if it offered more storage and had GPS, neither of which I really need at the moment.
- kayakin3d, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4This survey is old. Why would I want to know user reaction for a product released 2 weeks earlier, as this report states? People will mostly be in the "Awe and Glow" period where every time they whip out their iPhone they get horny. Do a survey today, over a month after the release, then come back with the results
- briLo, on 10/10/2007, -9/+0Dignon-
I'm a computer user of various kinds, I went to school for graphics and used my fair share of Macs, I'm an admin and have troubleshoot a billion Win boxes and have been using Linux as it's free and very resourceful.
The problem with the Apple gadgetry is their USERS plain and simple. See, no matter how good or bad a product may be, the fanboi's praise it as the second coming. It could be a meat cleaver freshly used to cut a kid up, as long as it was Blow Jobs endorsed the fanboi community would buy them (regardless of a need) and speak of their greatness.
I personally would like to pick one up and put it through the cell phone tango and see how it stands up, but I definitely do not want to become an ingredient of Fanboi nation!
My 2 cents to help you better understand the remaining 90% of the worlds opinions.- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5So you refuse to try something cause your "leet" friends might laugh at you? Is that it? Why not try something new just because it's new and judge it for yourself.
- briLo, on 10/10/2007, -5/+0I'd definitely like to try one but don't want to drop 6 greenbacks on it!
My meaning is that mr jobs could wrap up a bag of diahreha and throw an Apple logo on it and the fanboi crowd would buy it and praise it.
It's this discombobulated group that frightens me!!! I'm pretty sure they did the same thing at the Dividian Compound and look how that turned out!!!- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Waisting your time man, you are now arguing with the digg mafia...
- briLo, on 10/10/2007, -5/+0I'd definitely like to try one but don't want to drop 6 greenbacks on it!
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5So you refuse to try something cause your "leet" friends might laugh at you? Is that it? Why not try something new just because it's new and judge it for yourself.
- willgonz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Ok I love my iPhone. The $600 doesn't mean much to me because I make that much for 8 hours of side job contract money. The phone is nice, but not perfect. Software updates that enable features like games would be cool. Overall I really like the phone, the internet and videos on it. Sure, you can't copy and paste but I'll leave that for my computer.
- LanceUppercut, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I just want a hack to use a 3rd party bluetooth GPS receiver that is on my keychain or something to interface with google maps. I don't see how they left GPS out of the phone. I am still happy with the iPhone but it would be amazing with GPS.
- esperoboy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I mean... people, stop QQing. "MY PHONE IS BETTER IPHONE WHHEEE WAHWAH MY COMMENT COUNTS WAAH LISTEN TO ME" kinda comments should be made by high school kids who can't afford a lunch. You tech people should just let it go and live your life. iphone is good and as long as *I* am happy with it, that all matters.
- miniboss, on 10/10/2007, -6/+5The toughest thing about being an Apple consumer is that Apple fans try so hard to sway polls and reviews. If Jobs says clear keyboards are hot then everyone agrees and promotes them. If Jobs says laptop keyboards are more comfortable than traditional desktop ones then people write reviews about how the new keyboard makes them more productive and how ergonomics is for jerks.
I enjoy and buy Apple products, but I really wish their loudest customers would view products from the CONSUMER perspective rather than what Apple marketing wants them to say. Maybe the iPhone is the best phone on the planet, but it's also possible they managed to ask the 74 people who feel guilty for being critical about their favorite company. In the consumer world you just don't know whos opinion you can trust.- superkendall, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Perhaps the simpler answer is not that Apple owners try hard to sway polls, but that they actually like the devices they use and will say so when asked.
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Well, you are part of the Digg mafia... Why do you try hard to digg stories up that meet your ideology and digg stories down that dont?
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Please, also check my digg history since I am a part of the mafia according to you. A small handful of Apple related stories and 2 of them critical of Leopard.
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Well, you are part of the Digg mafia... Why do you try hard to digg stories up that meet your ideology and digg stories down that dont?

- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Congrats on losing your virginity. Weird way to do it though.
- B1663r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2How is it that you, SuperKendal and MacParrot all started posting within minutes of each other after being absent for a couple of hours? Is it because you guys are the digg mafia, and are now back in the office?
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So you are going to start flooding the thread now because people have similar work schedules? Do you realize that the standard work day ends at 5? Continue thinking what you want to I guess. It's no skin off my back.

- iMaciMan1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Jesus people, its a $600 phone, we all know that but you dont have to be a apple fanboy to like a good product. My stepdad bought an iPhone and he is neither an apple fanboy (he's actually a windows fanboy) or an overspender. So what im saying is get a product if you like it and think its worth it, don't ***** on the ones that get it for crying out loud.
