- geekdreams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Guess what? The Music Store was only available in the USA when it launched. Now there are stores all over the world and they're working to add more.
Guess what? The same thing will happen with TV & movies. The first step is to strike up deals with every content producer they can, regardless of whether its good or bad. Then they can worry about getting more shows and expanding into other countries.
Don't you think Apple would LOVE to have original series from HBO, Showtime, FX, etc? Don't you think they would offer up full-length games from ESPN if they could? The problem is not a technical one, nor a lack of trying. The content producers have their own partnerships and contracts and deals and sometimes that restricts what can be distributed through a third-party like Apple.
Once this gets big enough, more studios will come around, more networks will join in, and more consumers from around the world will be able to download their favorite shows. But it takes time. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"As in, when this is available outside the US. We get ABC/NBC/CBS/Fox/etc in Canada too, you know. They're part of basic cable."
as if anyone cares about canada!...lol... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OOOOH!!!! More Disney and ABC shows on iTunes!!! WOW!!!!
Let's see, I can't wait for...
"8 Simple Rules for Running a Bad Sitcom after the Star Dies"
"We're Just a Cop Show, not to be Confused with CSI"
"I used to be Cute on 'The Cosby Show' so Disney Gave Me My Own Sitcom to Suck On"
"Some Cartoon You've Never Seen Before that Reminds You of Rugrats"
...wow. I can't wait. - avonej, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0iTunes is a pathetic, crippled excuse for a media player.
I'll take my Bit Torrent and free software media players thank you very much. - CLIFFosakaJAPAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Keep "THOSE" shows coming....(can't type worth beans this morning)
- diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes! I love iTunes and my iPod
- wbguy88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wish they would give away some better old content except for stuff like good morning america, i mean maybe a show show like a comedy or drama, that would be cool i know it won't happen soon but like it said the only free stuff will be like video podcast there are plenty of other good ones out there NPR .
- LeFrenzy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0complain all you want, i love news, and it's nice to see that the ABC World news webcast will be available on iTunes. woot.
- firebird2110, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd care if any of the shows were remotely interesting, but that's TV all over.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wether it's apple, iTunes or iPods, it always end up on the front page...
- aMillionAndNine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It is good to see more content available but it just more stuff that does not interest me.
- techsupportrich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its hard to care until they make tv shows available to everyone
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Keep thows shows coming....and what's taking Apple so long to change the name to the "iTunes MEDIA store?"
Just call it the iTunes Store. Media is a given. - Misunderstood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its all in the title longo ;)
- Chasin_Fat_Kids, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's great to see that ABC is actually pushing content out there esp. the free highlights. The Free is going to be a big deal here - I think
- Give me free! Give me legal! Or I'll take Bittorrent and illegal. I could go either way really. - Chasin_Fat_Kids, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's not about length it's about content; you're being charged for content. A good drama can't be put into a 5 min. clip and a comedy show is hard to do in 45 mins.
I really want to see subscribeable content. Pay iTunes or whotever for a monthly fee and download any avaliable show I want. Kinda like netflix I want to be able to download 5 shows a month( which is all the episodes for the 5 shows in that month) there will be different packages w/ different price ranges 10 shows for 9.99 5 show for 5.99 15 shows for 13.99 whatever. It could possable change how shows are watched and made
Look @ Arrested Dev. I personally love the show but never watch it on TV I watch the Season's DVD. I dunno; just talking ***** here. - dmron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I mean this is good news and stuff, but the pricing "one price fits all" model does NOT work for video. I look through their store and I just cringe thinking about paying for this stuff. Like a 45 minute episode of LOST, vs a 5 minute clip from Conan O'Brien, both $1.99. That does not make sense. I would think about the BCS games, even though I watched the two yesterday and plan on watching the other ones live. But 15 minute condensed versions are not worth 2 dollars a piece. Jesus Christ, Apple... I would pay maybe 99 cents for one or two of them, or 2 dollars for the whole lot of them. Fix your pricing and maybe someday I'll buy into it.
- 5blocksfree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wish it mattered. Disney is not on my list of approved vendors. I hope that 20 extra years of copyright is worth it.
- CLIFFosakaJAPAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Keep thows shows coming....and what's taking Apple so long to change the name to the "iTunes MEDIA store? Maybe Steve will announce the change during his keynote at Macworld next week.
- Chasin_Fat_Kids, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When I say a comedy show is hard to do in 45 min. I mean for a weekly show like Conan. Shows like Conan and Leno have a very short shelf life - Who want to pay for interviews and comedy that are only relevant to a specific day?
If they were smart they would stream those shows live online for free and have them avaliable to stream anytime after. That would get me watching. Still talking *****. - notkevin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think it is good that they are offering up the BCS games on iTunes. I hope they do this with more sporting events.
- tepster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"as if anyone cares about canada!...lol..."
apparently the US does, enough that Canada is its #1 trading partner. - Rajio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"That's right, the US gets more oil from Canada than Saudi Arabia. More oil than anyone, really, since that is what the #1 would mean."
"That's it. Now that you've reminded us, we're going to have to invade your neighbor and install military bases. :-)"
errr...which neighbour would that be? greenland?! - Rajio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is more spam than news.
- Guspaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"apparently the US does, enough that Canada is its #1 trading partner."
And the US's #1 supplier of foreign oil. That's right, the US gets more oil from Canada than Saudi Arabia. More oil than anyone, really, since that is what the #1 would mean. - bhspdx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"That's right, the US gets more oil from Canada than Saudi Arabia. That's it. Now that you've reminded us, we're going to have to invade your neighbor and install military bases. :-) - RavenG4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I've been telling Disney to add their old school Mickey, Donald, etc. Cartoons. Maybe they listened to me finally.
- Zonkzor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Good to see media company's embracing the internet finally. So many people are leaving the TV sets behind for the interweb. They have to start converting there content over sometime.
Did you notice they have Kimpossible as one of the shows? Awesome.

www.tehjs.net - thomashawk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0This thing is going to flop so hard it's not even funny.
Bowl games a day late? Yeah, I'll be watching that in ***** low res format on my HDTV, sure thing, you bet. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0what a joke! they're selling the "condensed" version of the BCS games. Condensed to 15 minutes. Asshats.
- longofest, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0duplicate... go to http://www.digg.com/apple/ESPN,_ABC_Sports,_more_come_to_iTunes_Music_Store
- Guspaz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Let me know when I should care about this.
As in, when this is available outside the US. We get ABC/NBC/CBS/Fox/etc in Canada too, you know. They're part of basic cable.
Until then, I don't care and won't digg.
