- coldfusion1970, on 07/02/2008, -1/+12You can still use all those apps, but this is a 'always available' widget to wrap it up nicely for the rest of us.
I like it. - marcedwards, on 07/03/2008, -0/+9Some detail from the icon: http://homepage.mac.com/marcedwards/forumbits/whac ...
- Shaman760, on 07/04/2008, -0/+7Their iStat Pro Monitor is second to none. Dugg. Downloaded.
- Jerryskid02, on 07/04/2008, -1/+8Why do I see that question asked for nearly 90% of the stories on the front page? ....Why you ask? People people are Digging it. End of story. Move on.
- noblepenguin, on 07/04/2008, -0/+7It's not the widgets so much as the integration of iCal, Address Book and Mail. ToDos, Events and Notes have all either been introduced or had significant revisions since 10.4.
- rdas7, on 07/04/2008, -0/+4What, Mac OS X?
- norbiu, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3Dugg for 'organized crime icon'.
- dbr_onix, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3Exactly, the widget engine is basically the same, but the API for sharing iCal-events/Todos/etc was only introduced in Leopard.
It'd be possible to rewrite the data-grabbing parts of the widgets, but really, the amount of work that would take (a lot) compared to the benefits it would have (not much, a few more users) is trivial to the point of pointlessness.. - marcedwards, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3...and that's why we made it 10.5 only. Sorry.
- digitaldivinci, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Honestly, I wish there was a version through Yahoo Widgets or something like Rocketdock. I might try to convince my boss to install this on the work computers though. Awesome idea none the less.
- Sqlawl, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2A great feel and look!
- Karmavs, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2You can open it four times if you want. And really, each induvidual section of this widgets seems like the best implementation of that idea I've seen.
- ELLIS1128, on 07/02/2008, -2/+4I like.
- MtheoryX, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1I've tried the OF to iCal todo thing; honestly, at this point, it's too much trouble.
For one, it usually doesn't sync right for me. For two, it is kind of against the core GTD philosophy. Calendar items are your hard landscape. Things that have to be done at a certain date and time.
Todo's, or Next Actions, are just to be done as soon as you have a chance to do them.
Of course, I wouldn't belittle anyone for doing something against this; that's the great thing about GTD....if it works for you, then that is the correct way to do it. - dualboy24, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2Is the widget engine so different between 10.4 and 10.5 that they can not create a compatable version?

http://jeniya.info - ploke, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1I use all of those apps too (including OF, which is outstanding). I like how this widget shows a lot of info that used to be spread out in a quickly accessible, tiny package.
I only with that I could devise a simple and clean way of pumping my OF todos into ical for syncing. - phatphil, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Things is the most intuitive GTD app I've used thus far.

http://www.cuimhne.net/blog/ - theurge14, on 07/04/2008, -1/+1It's nice but it's kinda weird the clock is on a tab and it goes away when I click on Events. The idea of Dashboard widgets is to have each one do one thing well, not one that combines 5 of them into tabs. Good effort though, but the UI is confused.
- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -2/+1Great! The same thing in 3 different widgets! Idiot.
- ricomadiko, on 07/04/2008, -2/+0Entourage already did the job for me with My Day that mini app!!
- MtheoryX, on 07/02/2008, -9/+6Personal productivity is so specific to the individual that I see no need in having some system like this. In fact, since it's acceptable to push one's own productivity upon another...lets play:
I, personally, use Mail.app for email, iCal for calendar items (with the exception of Exchange stuff at work), Address Book for all addresses, and OmniFocus for all Todo's.
OmniFocus details for those interested in a kick ass Mac GTD app:

And for those who see "GTD" and have no clue WTF I'm talking about:

Also, OmniFocus iPhone app (with location aware features) is forthcoming.
Enjoy! - bradbeattie, on 07/04/2008, -5/+2Meh.

- inactive, on 07/04/2008, -5/+0Arstechnica or Arstechnican't write a story without stealing from other bloggers?
- batmanz, on 07/04/2008, -9/+1Why is this on the front page?
