- MurderMystery, on 10/12/2007, -45/+188This here is iPod country boy. Git back to where you come from! Git!
- Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -15/+143Apple is literally on top of the competition.
- GeekedAtBirth, on 10/12/2007, -19/+110That box probably holds about...1 zune.
- Nick22, on 10/12/2007, -16/+99@admirabumblebee
You were probably dugg downn by a couple apple fanboys, but you have been dugg down by alot more now simply because you complained about it. Never complain about getting dugg down, 90% of the time you will be buried farther. - zip22, on 10/12/2007, -25/+102admirabumblembee, your first mistake was owning the 6g ipod. as a self professed apple fanboy, you would know that the most recent generation of ipod is known as the 5.5g ipod. second was your battery life figures. you provided stats for neither and i doubt them both after reading many reviews of both devices. your third mistake was saying that the zune is simply the better device. that is not the case. both devices have their pros and cons. there are a few things the ipod holds over the zune including UMS (os independant and you can use it as a portable harddrive), gapless, lossless, higher resolution tv output, movie and television content in the itunes store, podcast support, games, contacts, clock, calender...
so you see, the zune is not definitively the better device. it depends on what you're looking for. thats why i dugg you down at least. - turpenine, on 10/12/2007, -6/+49dude, then turn off gapless. not that hard.
- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -13/+51LOL, ha ha!!
Never let it be said that Apple product owners weren't a clever, inventive bunch.
Comments that made me cry with laughter (pure gold);
"What's really funny is this. Most people would realize that those are 5 packs of iPods on top (40 iPods) and that box on the bottom is for a single Zune."
"Microsoft finally offers iPod support"
"The cream rises to the top"
"I cannot pretend to feel impartial about colors. I rejoice with the brilliant ones and am genuinely sorry for the poor browns." --Winston Churchill"
"Thankfully, in this case the ***** didn't float to the top"
"Looks like the iPods just squirted out a zune. They feel much better for it."
"Sorry, the social has been cancelled."
"Welcome to the REAL Social"
"I went to a dinner for breakfast this morning and under one of the table feet was a Zune. It was stopping it from being wobbly. I thought to myself good idea, I always hated when people wasted a good pack of matches to do that."
"And the iPod comes out on top yet again"
"Same exact situation at Costco in Salt Lake City, UT."
"Microsoft is hoping to capture some of the iPod halo effect."
"Bricks make a good foundation."
Here's mine;
Caption: "Stand appears to be unstable, Microsoft will issue a patch on Tuesday of next month." - Baloo, on 10/12/2007, -14/+51any self proclaimed apple fanboy who likes the zune should be dugg down... the 2 are mutually incompatible... not to mention the zune aint going to work on OS X.
the zune is an evil device... forget whether the hardware is better or not...
it gives Universal money for every unit sold.
That alone means you shouldnt buy it.
it panders to big music business...
there are a whole bunch of other reasons that I dont like the zune... but that is the key peeve... basically it is the ipod that RIAA wants... not the consumer!! - jeru48, on 10/12/2007, -0/+36actually I think you won't find much XBOX360 bashing on digg.
- alwaysmc2, on 10/12/2007, -12/+45it looks like that box is really just a table...
so... all the Zune sold so they put their extra iPod stock there! ^_^ - MackPrime, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34thats not a box, it's a banner.
- Monkleto, on 10/12/2007, -10/+40honestly i work at best buy as a technician, and I see more ipods returned, only because I see more ipods sold. I see less zune's returned because I see WAY less Zunes sold. The Zune's that I do see come back, seriously, get exchanged for ipods - no kidding. Only thing the Zune has over the ipod is a larger and higher quality LCD Display. Squirting? how g'damn pointless is it to be able to share music UNDER A DRM CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT!!?!?!?!?!??!? iPod > Zune. coming from a non-microsoft fan, and a non-apple fanboy.
- 81v3d07g0d, on 10/12/2007, -45/+72Is everyone one digg a complete idiot. I don't really care whether Zune's are selling or not, but this is retarded. Anyone who goes to costco on any regular basis knows that costco always uses there stock pallets in this way because of the way they present merchandise. They aren't using Zune stock for a table anymore than they are using RCA brand stereos for a table SONY stereos, THEY ARE JUST BEING ECONOMICAL WITH THE ROOM IN THERE WAREHOUSE.
I FEEL LIKE I'AM TAKING CRAZY PILLS!!!!! ARE YOU SO HARD UP TO BASH MICROSOFT THAT YOU HAVE TO MAKE STUFF UP IN ORDER TO FEEL LIKE YOU'VE MADE A DIFFERENCE???? tell me exactly how much extra cool stuff or money do you get from Steve Jobbs if iPod is more successful? - VanDaniel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28 admirabumblebee, I call fake fake fake.
If you had a 99% apple home... assuming the Zune is the other 1%, you wouldn't be able to load the thing. Sorry but you are a Zune fanboy, plain and simple... and is that really any better? You all make honest people sick. - saxphile, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29"I am going to have to take DIgg off my google homepage."
Go right ahead. See if anybody cares. - fooslayer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23That's no photoshopped... it's a space station.
- DaMacGuy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+26Or Microsoft BOB, or the 39 flavors of Windows Vista, or using blatantly exploitable code to 'improve' the web experience, or 'stealing' DOS from its creator, or promoting so much vaporware they killed off numerous smaller developers just at the mention of a similar product/feature that never ends up shipping?
- Boondoggle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23@alwaysmc2
yeah... because the Zune is selling like hotcakes... heh.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/electronics - cybermort, on 10/12/2007, -7/+27you mean like windows ME
- cohman2001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Dude, chill out.. You don't need to read the story if you find it unappealing. Who's forcing you to read this article? I'm not.
- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -10/+26Oh snap crackle pop ;)
- stockjones, on 10/12/2007, -8/+21funny, but could it be that they sold out of Zunes and used the leftover boxes to display the excess inventory of ipods? Who knows.
- shultzy055, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16inaccurate, it's just a promotional banner, not zune boxes
- TheDude213, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I hope someone starts a flame war about mp3 players... oh wait...
- SuperMoonMan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11To get back on topic, I really prefer the iPod's box to the Zune's.
- greatcaffeine, on 10/12/2007, -24/+33I guess the Zune is better if you like crappy navigation, fake scroll wheels, gimmicky WiFi, and hideous design.
- jcounterman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8The zune is selling worse than a $240 universal remote control on amazon...I hope this is a referendum on overzealous DRM, but I know I'm probably just dreaming.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -17/+24http://duggmirror.com
- zip22, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9it is not widescreen. it is the same resolution as the ipod
- NSResponder, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13Admiral: I dugg you down for whining. That's just lame.
-jcr - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10They probably just didn't have a table convenient at the time and the Zune stand or whatever was close by because they are both in the same section. I seriously don't see the big deal...
- Katowitz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Um... it appears that it is just on top of a crate with a Zune ad in front. Far from being a single Zune box let alone boxes.
- das7282, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Those are iPod boxes? I bought two iPod Nanos and they didn't come in boxes like those.
- TheXeno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Tonight I was at my favorite college hangout, a small pizza joint, and my cousin looked over and saw some girl holding a Zune up for some odd reason. My eyes widened, my god, a fellow zune in the wild. They all rag on me and my little Zune, but my brother said, "Hey send her a song" So I plopped my Zune out and picked a song, and sent it. She didn't realize who sent it, and we were all watching her from across the room, they started laughing, and we kept going back and forth sending songs. She sent the Jackson 5's ABC, I sent Smooth Criminal in return, she sent Aretha Franklin's Respect, I sent Digital Underground's The Humpty Dance in reply. :P
But yeah, suffice to say it was cool to catch another zune in the wild. - Xilon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Lol, talk about hierarchy
- tadunne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5so..
ipod user = sheep because people only get it because it's popular and the zune is technically better..
same as..?
windows user = sheep because people only get it because it's popular and Mac osx is technically better..
I find the symmetry amusing. - VanDaniel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+675+ Million iPod users are all hipsters? It is a market "for and by hipsters"?
You are spouting off trying to build up the Zune with FUD. Sad really.
"Welcome to the Social"? Microsoft is marketing directly to Hipsters, and since you are buying in to it... what does that make you? - JavertHolmes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Wow. Just think. If all those iPods sitting there were PS3s, the headline wouldn't be "Costco turned Zune boxes into tables to sell iPods," it'd be "OMG LOOK AT ALL THE UNSOLD PS3s!"
Disclaimer: I don't own a Zune, iPod, PS3, Xbox 360, or Wii. - XMinusX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5That's Digg for ya. Anything good about Apple,Google,Foxfire and K rose is all digg worthy anything appose will be dugg down. Also articles It's no what the article is about it's who submitted. I feel myself becoming digg down.
- SyDIGG, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7"does the ipod have anything the zune dosnt have?"
brighter screen(5.5g),less weight, smaller, support podcast, calender, games, A LOT more 3rd party accessories, acts as a hard drive, pc AND mac support, comes in 1 gig/2gig/4gig/8gig/30gig/80gig, etc, etc. - ShuttleDisaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm not a huge Zune fan either, but regardless, I'm astonished by all the iPod users who love bashing the Zune without even having tried it out once!
- digjedi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Actually great advertising for the Zune. The poster in no way says the Zune wasn't for sell at the Costco, it was probably for sale right next to this iPod display. And with this display on Zune box everyone looking at the iPod is going to see in a very big ad of their competition.
- VanDaniel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The iPod WAS the first with a 1.8" hard drive, and the first to not use USB 1.1. Firewire was a much better was to transfer 1000+ songs. If celebrity endorsements sold bad products, Sony's digital Walkman® would be the number one DAP. But it isn't, and the Zune won't be either.
- Wisgary, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't know why, but when I read "ghetto ass flat screen TV" this was actually the first thing that came to mind. Then I thought... nah... no one could be this stupid. And then I was proved wrong.
It actually looks cool though. - AktionF1413, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I had a couple of Creative mp3 players, a Rio and a Sony before the iPod was even at its second generation. The reason the iPod took off was not solely marketing - compared to the iPods I've since owned, those four devices were utterly horrific to use, both in terms of the device UI and the PC software side of things.
- jbelkin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Based on projections, Apple sells about 1.3 million ipods a week every week over the 4 week holiday season (or @5.2 million ipods). MS bragged that over 30,000 places were selling the Zune, based on MS's marketshare of 9%, 2%, 2% & 2% (each week as reported) over the same holiday period, that's about 40,000 Zunes sold ... or about 1 per store ... Pretty good is you're selling a Bentley, not so good for a gadget at $250 bucks. There are 73,000 MS employees so we know that not every employee has bought one yet. MS is projecting a million Zunes by June or sales of about 125,000 per month to get there - looks like we'll be seeing some new rebates - probably tied to Vista. If you're keeping scaore and MS is on projections, in June, Apple should be around 100 million ipods (more if the ipod phone projections are on target) so their odds of success will literally be 1 in a million by June 2007.
Maybe Zune users should double up - for another $250, they can finally activate that sharing feature and randomly hand out the other zune to people. - Cygnus666, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6i don't see the attraction for the ipod...i don't own a zune or an ipod. i own a creative zen vision:m far more features...more format support...radio tuner, voice recorder, customizable...less restrictions as far as transferring music to and from my computer etc. so why do people like ipod so much...I'm just curious! given, I've never owned one but based one features compared to other mp3 players...ipod is not the best.(not saying zune is either, just being objective).
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4ZOMG the PS3 is better than the Zune!
