This is very exciting news and could signal the direction of video podcasting. Creators and producers like this are much more apt to use these distribution methods than an established distributor like ABC or FOX. These are also the kinds of companies that put out the new and interesting content.
I expect to see Adult Swim style programming appearing on the iTMS directly from content creators much sooner then a Cartoon Network would let their programs be available online.
sych0: you suck =P - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Something that someone might ACTUALLY want to watch? Whodathunkit?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OMG, this is really exciting. One vote for iPod cartoons!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pretty exciting. Apple really should have hooked up with more creators, especially the indy guys, to propagate the iTunes video podcasts.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hahah, that www.frederator.com link just gave me chills. I think these guys just got me more excited about the new iPod than Steve-O.
- LaPistola, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am telling you.. the revolution has begun.. ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX... you had better get on the bandwagon.. if the content goes.. why would we still care about you.
- spade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think starting high profile was good, shaking the industry is a good thing. The indies often are more aggressive, so they think outside of the box, and always looking for distribution. BBC also seems like a logical partner, but I think BBC will only charge bandwidth charge, ie. really cheap for shows.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Whoa, I hope it's free cartoons.
- iWorks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am loving this.
"The revolution will not be televised." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Please please please give us ipod cartoons!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Maybe we'll finally see quality _free_ video in the iTMS
- blogkitten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I second the request for Adult Swim cartoons.
- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0and hack it to use higher bitrate h.264, then we're in business!!
- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0toons will look great on the new iPod. someone should make a script to make a watch folder to convert existing [xvid] videos to iPod format.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0scopitone: according to Wikipedia, these guys are responsible for the original Family Guy pilot. I'm keeping my fingers crossed =P
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cartoons would look GREAT on the iPod. Can't wait to see.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If we start to get some real video content I might just have to pick up a black 30gb.
- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I watched a Lost episode from iTMS on a regular 32" TV and it looked pretty decent. good enough to enjoy because I was too impatient to wait for my torrent download to finish.
- Scopitone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OMG! Derrr! Those shows are SO Raven!
No, honestly, it's great that there are more shows being offered but I'd really prefer some ADULT SWIM. - neglektedfew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i don't think the rumor said they were running Johnny Bravo, just that they had something to do with it...
- vSanity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why not, they did put these same cartoons on the Game Boy Advance.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great news. Maybe we'll finally get something worth watching in the iTMS.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Forgot about the GBA videos. I guess they've been waiting for this technology to hit mainstream.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Alright! I've been waiting for something to dethrone TikiBar.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Update: http://www.frederator.com/
- CableCarrier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh man, free Johnny Bravo cartoons would rock so hard.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For anyone that doesn't know, these guys are a big deal. They're responsible for Nick's biggest shows (ChalkZone, Fairly Odd Parents, etc), and produced just about everything worth watching on Cartoon Network.
- estacado, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The only thing left for Apple to do is update it's iPod video so that the screen is PSP-like.
- neglektedfew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0excellent dudes!
- jumjum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Johnny Bravo is the best cartoon on that list, and Cartoon Network isn't even currently airing it. It's not even on their On Demand channel. What gives?
- mercury81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wooohoo give me dexter's lab!!
- jholdaway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They made big $$ with Gameboy Advance sell of such content. I would have been surprised if they didn't jump on this bandwagon.
- sych0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0too bad those cartoons suck
- danwho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so what? virtually any video content could be converted to H.264 or virutally any other video format. video doesn't have to be release in a specific "ipod format" to be able to watch it on an ipod. this is just another example of how big industries try to squeeze as much money as possible out of people by re-releasing content in as many different formats as possible when it's very easy to convert it yourself.
- kyle133, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Have a look at this...
http://www.milliondollarhero.com - ScottyTee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0yeah seems to be progressing good for apple :) with all these people jumping on the iPod Video bus.
