- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -7/+40This is why I hate the media. They keep asking a question until they get the response they want. If they don't get the response they want, they write a story about how they didn't get the response they wanted, so that must mean that the other party is "hiding something." Apple came out during WWDC and said Steve Jobs had a common "bug," and was taking antibiotics and feeling fine, but that's not enough for the media. They keep pecking away.
Sorta like the way handled the whole Obama cartoon thing.
Media: "Senator Obama, have you seen this cartoon?" *holds up the cartoon*
Obama: "No I haven't."
Media: "What do you think about this cartoon? Does it offend you? Look at it, your wife is carrying a machine gun and has an afro."
Obama: "No comment."
Larry King: "Senator Obama, are you offended by this cartoon?"
Obama: "No, it's just a cartoon."
Media: "Senator Obama seems to be really, really disturbed by this cartoon." - TheXuu, on 07/23/2008, -1/+19Or more like, "Steve Jobs' cancer has returned, NOT!"
- gcnaddict, on 07/23/2008, -0/+16Eh, the wrong word was capitalized in order to help itself to the front page.
Sensationalism. It won't go away. - chaos7, on 07/23/2008, -3/+14i doubt the source knows for sure

Nope, his last name is "Jobs" not "Job" - Zanneth, on 07/23/2008, -4/+14I'm really sick of all of these news stories speculating Jobs's health. It's NONE of our business and it's a private matter--CEO or not.
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -10/+20Do Not Care.
- ROFLance, on 07/23/2008, -7/+14He must have injected large doses of concentrated cash into his bloodstream.
- rblancarte, on 07/23/2008, -2/+9Because it's no one's f--king business. If the dude has cancer, it is up to him to reveal it at the time and place of his choosing.
- TopherT, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5Fiduciary duties aside, I'm sure its against the law to force someone to disclose private medical records, and certainly illegal to fire them for it.
- ibone, on 07/23/2008, -5/+9So lets get this straight, he is losing weight rapidly looks really sick...
So does he now have Aids? - Tom10803, on 07/23/2008, -2/+6Always good to hear.
- gjokkel, on 07/23/2008, -5/+9I am an MD and I am still worried a bit. There is a good reason behind loosing that much of his body weight. Even if it is not a cancer relapse everybody is aware of SJ's eccentric relation to medicine and nutrition. Before deciding to undergo surgery he tried to cure himself by eating special vegetables. Who knows, he may have chosen a weird super-diet to boost his health. I don't think anybody on the Earth could convince him not to die of starvation once he convinced himself that it was a good thing to do.
Now, is this stupid media coverage an insult to his privacy?
Well, I think this is more than a concern of the AAPL investors. SJ has always been (and is going to be) treated as the savior of the computer industry. Even the hardest Vista fanboys agree that his influence on the digital world is very beneficial. And I think everybody is concerned (at least subconsciously) of our digital future without Steve.
We somehow love that rude ***** guy, that's it. - streak, on 07/23/2008, -7/+11Hey, that would mean he's still cured 3 years after he and his doctors said he was... cured! AWESOME!
- AlekNovi, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4Its funny you got dugg down. Most people didn't catch the southpark reference :D
I loved that episode. - peestandingup, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4Or this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rC4lumYPQD8 - yellowswan, on 07/23/2008, -5/+8Only on the internet could such a level of fanaticism be cultivated…
- griz, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3It would be tragic if he did have it, but seriously, from a consumer standpoint, why should you care? Do you buy Apple products because they are good or because Steve Jobs held them up in the air at the keynote and declared them to be amazing?
- peestandingup, on 07/23/2008, -1/+4Thats why they call it the big C.
- lolwutpear, on 07/23/2008, -1/+3I wish i could tell what sound effect you were imitating there. As far as I can tell, you're farting. I'm personally glad that I don't fart whenever I make a bad joke like that. It must be awkward.
- buddhistMonkey, on 07/23/2008, -1/+3I wish that someday you'll mature to the point where you regret writing that.
- SickofSects, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2I have always felt pity for B1663r, ever since he shorted AAPL since 2004, and now has to give BJs under the bridge for his next meal, so I have tried to ignore his trolling in Apple threads, as that is a form of his own twisted therapy for his sick life. But saying something like "his cancer is back is all" with certainty as if he is SJ's personal doctor is crossing the line. Just because your AIDS is worse than ever, doesn't mean u should wish for others to die, B1663r.
SJ had a rare form of CURABLE cancer. So he was CURED. English, *****, do you speak it? - davidwasman, on 07/23/2008, -3/+5Even all you Apple haters, which have sadly taken over Digg, have to admit this is good news and join in solidarity in wishing him good health and a long future.
That doesn't mean you 'drank the koolaid'. It just means you have a heart for once.
I am seriously disgusted by the comments above me. - MetalGear7, on 07/23/2008, -10/+12Microsoft is pissed
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -3/+5However the Cancer on Digg is spreading nicely.
- schneid4323, on 07/23/2008, -5/+7Buried for CANCER and then him not having it. Seriously WTF was that?
- jamesdew, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2no I believe it was a south park episode
- yellowswan, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2Lead by example.
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1lol good one bro
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1The fart was to signify that I am fully aware of the bad pun I just made. Duh
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -2/+3I think a ***** of stockholders would disagree with you, and back up that disagreement in court.
- yellowswan, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1You needed a Businessweek article to figure that out?
- iDiggIt42, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2HEIL
- bobthedino, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2Have you read about the Whipple procedure that Steve probably underwent? Weight can be a big issue following this operation. http://apple20.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2008/06/13/st ...
- ToiletGhost, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2This should not be on the technology page.
- kibbledbits, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Well we should all hope this is true, cancer is a terrible disease. Now lets give the man some privacy for once.
- streak, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1It's been 4 years since Jobs was diagnosed with his atypical, CURABLE pancreatic cancer. This is how the typical pancreatic cancer progresses, tragically, in less than 2 years:

This is an expert's ruminations on what is really troubling Jobs since his original, curative surgery:
http://digg.com/apple/A_Surgical_Oncologist_specul ... - rlbond86, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1BREAKING NEWS: Steve Jobs is not dying... More at 11
- ninjacob, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Clearly the mindless sheeple buy them for the latter.
- yogiincork, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1That's what she said?
- kibbledbits, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1lol, that's pretty funny
the media hasn't changed much - jamesdew, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1but not the big ANCER
- streak, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1No, Rule 1 of cancer is: if the cancer can be surgically resected, then the patient is cured by the surgery alone. No iffs, ands, or butts. If the cancer "returns," it's actually not the original cancer but a new event. As far as the doctors could tell-and judging by the nonaggressive type of cancer it was-the cancer Steve Jobs had had not metastasized and it was thoroughly, completely resected. Hence, he was CURED. This is not to be confused by common situations where the surgeon wants to give good news to the patient and their family by saying "we got it all," but s/he really knows there's a good chance of metastases already and that the cancer wasn't necessarily all resected. The type of cancer Steve Jobs had does not generally fall in this category.
- IKORKYI, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1just because i don't care about steve job's cancer doesn't mean i'm not glad any human doesn't have it.
- ftyuv, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1These pretzels... are making ME thirsty!
- Duositex, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1All hail Jobs? What is this crap.
- Odiwan, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1What medical school did you go to, and what kind of MD uses language like "super-diet to boost his health" ?!
