- boxlight, on 10/12/2007, -5/+52ooo, Leopard, I can hear you on the horizon!
- Jeffrey903, on 10/12/2007, -2/+46So I guess that rumor that Leopard would be delayed until October because of Vista/Bootcamp support problems were false.
- astrosmash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30You don't have to burn anything.
Right-click the Boot Camp Assistant, select Show Package Contents, navigate to Contents/Resources, and you'll find a DiskImage.dmg file.
Mount DiskImage.dmg by double-clicking it, then you'll find a Windows installer containing the drivers. Copy the installer EXE to your Windows partition (or a shared drive) then boot into Windows and run the installer. - ezweave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28Let's hope they fix the problem with the track pad drivers... I hate having to use XP to begin with, but when my Macbook track pad quits responding randomly or moving erratically I want to hurt something.
- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27This part always makes a fanboy laugh:
"Macs use an ultra-modern industry standard technology called EFI to handle booting. Sadly, Windows XP, and even Vista, are stuck in the 1980s with old-fashioned BIOS. But with Boot Camp, the Mac can operate smoothly in both centuries." - CarbonEclectic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Apple Remote Support in iTunes and Windows Media Player! woo hoo!
It looks like the time synchronization issue has been fixed too. I tried getting the time to stay correct in XP, but it always gave the wrong time. - Timan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16About bloody time... can finally have sound that doesn't suck in Vista.
- halleyscomet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15For XP users it looks like the big changes are better drivers and Apple Remote support.

Boot Camp 1.2 beta includes:
* Support for Windows Vista (32-bit)
* Updated drivers, including but not limited to trackpad, AppleTime (synch), audio, graphics, modem, iSight camera
* Support the Apple Remote (works with iTunes and Windows Media Player)
* A Windows system tray icon for easy access to Boot Camp information and actions
* Improved keyboard support for Korean, Chinese, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Russian, and French Canadian
* Improved Windows driver installation experience
* Updated documentation and Boot Camp on-line help in Windows
* Apple Software Update (for Windows XP and Vista) - CarbonEclectic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I doubt that Leopard is going to be delayed at all, but it should be noted that only the 32-bit binary of Vista is compatible with Boot Camp, which indicates that there may still be some unresolved Vista/Boot Camp issues, but then again, it's still just a beta.
- ecsos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9or even easier: double click Boot Camp Assistant, and choose Utility > Save Mac Windows Drivers to Folder...
- everfresh59, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Dang....I can't read.....
- Jeffrey903, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7iwantawii - The rumor was that Apple would be selling the final version of Bootcamp for about $30 to users who wish to stay with Tiger. Those who upgrade to Leopard will get it for free (well, included in the price).
- colincornaby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Every version has been able to do that.
- ezweave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8(Assuming you are using a Macbook/Macbook Pro) Two fingers on the track pad and click... it's in the documentation and works fine.
- AssProphet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7sounds like it's your connection that's the problem... I'm getting 350+
- msmyth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@everfresh59
From Apple's site:
"If you previously installed Boot Camp beta, you can easily update to Boot Camp 1.2 beta. You don't need to partition your hard drive again (unless you want to change its size) or reinstall your Macintosh and Windows software or documents, but it's very important to update the Boot Camp Assistant software, create a new Mac Drivers CD and install the updated software it contains onto Windows. Complete instructions are provided in the Installation and Setup Guide included with the Boot Camp 1.2 beta software." - mank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Two features in trackad still missing in windows: tap-to-click and two-finger-tap for right click.
I was hoping they will take care of these but oh well... - m1ss1ontomars, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6*****.com
- ilgaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5So what happened to "Leopard doesn't ship because it is not compatible with Vista (!!!!)" allegation by very credible, super technical, super geek sources? :)
Input Managers turned out to be a FUD too, InputManagers aren't removed, Apple WARNS user if he/she wants InputManager running. One time. - Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11"growl"?
This Leopard is going to ROAR!!! - noseeme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Whoa, Vista support?!?! That's awesome! I hope they can get 64 bit Vista working too...
- klawz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6No, you won't on an older Apple mouse, but buy a new mighty mouse and you can.
- racedude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@carboneclectic
The reason it most likely doesn't support 64 bit, is because all of the drivers must be signed with microsoft in the 64 bit, that is why it might not work with 64 bit for maybe another year at most. - mattdr488, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5does anybody know if trackpad tapping to click works in windows now?
- SVPirate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Same here - I use it to play EVE Online.
@ BLACKEAGLE
If you can really call my Mac Pro useless you really truly must be a complete idiot. I'm constantly perplexed by people who refer to Macs as 'useless' and 'just eye candy' when sat on Windows machines when Macs will run Windows in a VM as fast as most P4 PCs or dual boot no sweat. Oh and they also run this weird UNIX-based OS that doesn't seem to get any viruses or spyware so I don't have my browser and e-mail raped by some script kiddie in China/Russia/etc. Strange that - it almost sounds like it might be quite useful... oh well in the trash it goes (your comment, not the Mac Pro)! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Arrghh I installed vista 2 days ago. Good think I didn't activate it!
- Katarn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4BootCamp isn't a boot loader. It is a set of drivers for Mac hardware to operate with Windows and helps partition part of an internal drive for Windows formatting and installation.
- klawz, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10YOU FOOL! RTFA
(on the right side, it says how to upgrade) - ilgaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Bluetooth on Windows has always been a nightmare. I have this "Billionton" USB bluetooth here, it took 2 days of manual reading, registry hacking, driver overwriting on Windows XP. On OS X, I just plugged it in.
If it is still the same, Apple can't fix windows non standard, mixed bluetooth problem. - Dotmeister, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@iwantawii
Leopard users would get it with the OS, Tiger user would have to buy it...
Last time I checked that was the rumor, but these tubes... - aristotle0dude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is good. Now my MBP will trigger the screensaver in Vista after the specified timeout. I assume that it also works now in XP too. Also, everything appears to be working in the device manager view.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I hit 740KB/sec which is very, very unusual for my ¨up to 8mbps¨ connection.
- scotty588, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Great tip ecsos. I never knew that.
- INBLEW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah my bluetooth worked fine when i installed Vista.. but now with the new bootcamp update..it's made my bluetooth mighty mouse not function. It reads it, but it doesn't work. I also got the blue screen of death (CRASH DUMP) when i turned my device on and off. Everything works good, just this new update made my bluetooth all wacky. I had to plug in my old wired mighty mouse for it to work.
- natethegreat05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i hit 570
- BrianPower, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"No, you won't on an older Apple mouse, but buy a new mighty mouse and you can."
I love the look of that might mouse, but the problem arises when that ball gets stuck. Just bought an MX Revolution yesterday myself and so far I'm liking it. I can launch Quicksilver, Command+Q, launch dashboard, empty cache, preform spelling short-cut, open calculator and open the dictionary app without touching the keyboard. The only problem I came across is the poorly written driver software that practically crashes every time you adjust a button setting (so one must adjust a setting a quit before the mouse control crashes), it's annoying, but all the settings are set-up now so I wont be opening them for a while again I hope. - PunkFenixJT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I use the 2 fingers on the trackpad for when i'm in OSX, but it doesn't work for me on my XP Boot Camp partition. I've looked around but seem to have no luck. Oh well, I'm a parallels person unless i'm desperate.
- mtappenden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can confirm that this issue is new fixed.
- cavar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Maybe for installing from PPC servers to Intel clients. But was Universal before.
- theorem7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Strangely enough, my Bluetooth worked out of the box on the initial Vista install (I'm on RC2, by the way, I don't know if it makes a difference.... I know I'm a bum...), but the new Boot Camp drivers screwed up Bluetooth, and didn't really improve the sound at all (it's worse, if anything). The time issue does appear to be fixed and the remote works now (I don't even know if I tested it before, though...), however I am not really very satisfied with this update. I may just pop back in my old Mac drivers CD, everything was working [mostly] fine on that, and I don't really feel like messing with Windows enough to fix the new drivers....
- ilgaz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Poor guy has a real problem with Right click as Apple user but since people are sick of "single mouse button" trolls, he becomes victim :)
Sad really - coldfusion1970, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I really didnt think Apple would update the beta version of BC with Vista compatibility. I thought that they would only fix the Vista driver issue in the 10.5 version of BC so that we had another reason to upgrade.
Kudos Apple. - spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why would you want tap to click? Tap to click is the worst idea ever. Too lazy to use a thumb?
It really is a tough decision. Do I want to be clicking on stuff while I type a paper, or do I want to have to use my thumb to click. Hard decision. - coldfusion1970, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I only got it for my MMORPG fix. I play Everquest 2.
Actually multi-player online Counter Strike is soiperb. - SVPirate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ Ireland
Until you realise EFI is just Intel's implementation of the OpenFirmware idea which has been around in various forms on various platforms since the early 1990s and possibly earlier. It might be relatively new to Intel, but every other decent computer manufacturer (Sun, SGI, HP, IBM, Apple etc...) has been using it for a little over a decade at the very least. - ckloloh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just wish Digg would have focused on stories about technology. I was one of the early users of the site. But I had to go away for a while. Now that I am back, I don't like what I see.
- jonahan52, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well actually the demo expires in October I believe .. The assitant will stop working however if you've installed and everything already then you'll be fine unless you mess up the drive and need to do it again.
- carebearwarrior, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hopefully this gets my Bluetooth working in Vista. The BTHKicker INF install has not yet worked for me.
/crosses fingers -
