- Alexrrr, on 07/23/2008, -1/+63That is not even the boot screen, it is the screensaver.
- asus2000, on 07/23/2008, -2/+62As if China owns a valid copy of the OS.
- dpowre, on 07/23/2008, -5/+64stolen from the article comments
- Wuss, on 07/23/2008, -13/+66Even if it was real, since when did the Win XP bootup screen = crash? Just tells me they're booting, not necessarily crashing.
- xsecretfiles, on 07/23/2008, -4/+43Hi, I'm a billboard PC!
- TinyStickFigure, on 07/22/2008, -68/+108Just more proof that Apple people have to use Windows to get things done...
- pauleric, on 07/23/2008, -1/+40'Crash' as in "crashing the party". It doesn't say "Windows crashed".
- xsecretfiles, on 07/23/2008, -0/+38.....screen saver?
- bobsander87, on 07/23/2008, -0/+38That's not bootup, that's the default screen saver.
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -2/+34If anything, that looks like the Screensaver got activated because the bozo who setup the display didn't configure the PC properly. That's definitely not a crash, but user error if it is indeed real.
- McSwankypants, on 07/23/2008, -0/+23In response to ANY (OS a) > (OS b):
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz - dnields, on 07/23/2008, -8/+27That isn't even the Apple Store. It's the building next to it.
Here is a photo of the actual Apple Store: http://www.apple.com.cn/retail/sanlitun/
You can also look at the of the other building and see some sort of banner or sign in the front window... clearly nothing Apple related. It looks to be more of an auditorium of sorts.
The iPod & iTunes ad from the other shot is probably just Apple buying ad-space on a huge screen that happens to be next to their actual store. - digitalpencil, on 07/23/2008, -0/+19ahh reflections.. photoshop's only weakness?
- Wuss, on 07/23/2008, -0/+16okay, we get it. Windows vs Mac article. *insert linux reference* ha ha ha......'nuff already.
- Faasnat, on 07/23/2008, -1/+17And that's something that people can't PhotoShop? Not saying it's not real or real, but that shouldn't be the deciding factor...
- GeneralFailure0, on 07/23/2008, -3/+16That's not broken, that's a screen saver.
- Unreal595, on 07/23/2008, -13/+25Nah, it's real alright, there's a reflection in the glass over to the right of the picture.
- lattin1, on 07/23/2008, -2/+13The best part is you know its a bootleg copy of both OS's shown. I just got back from Beijing and you literally have to walk into Microsoft's China HQ to get a valid copy of Windows.
- chillypacman, on 07/23/2008, -1/+11Apple fanboys are so deluded when they see windows they just say 'oh gee it's crashing'.
They don't seem to understand that windows is a perfectly usable workhorse OS and can do more than creat a blog for your pet cat. - Alexrrr, on 07/23/2008, -0/+7Linux reminds me of the little nerd kid screaming "pick me, pick me" lately. And i love using linux, but it must find its own personality. Must be hard when each distro has its own.
- LoudMusic, on 07/23/2008, -1/+7Well, I think this is a case of "right tool for the job". There is already software for Windows to drive massive displays. Why go to the effort of doing that with OS X? Furthermore, there is probably a company who installs the giant screens and the only thing they use is Windows.
I'm not necessarily saying I agree with this, just that it's not a new concept for companies to take the easy route. - digitalpencil, on 07/23/2008, -0/+6he ran over his cat..
- DeFex, on 07/23/2008, -1/+7fire extinguishers are for chinese laptop batteries!
- sisko2k5, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5Wait those aren't cops in the lines....they are clones!!!
- Lewiji, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5Right, because the average "Apple person" wants to erect a massive display for personal use.
- jinwuyin, on 07/23/2008, -1/+6it's just a share screen, apple happen to use it during it's opening days in Beijing.
apple just rent it for ads, has no control about the system. - serif69, on 07/23/2008, -1/+6If a screen saver goes up on an enormous screen in public, something isn't right. Thus, broken.
- Smills, on 07/23/2008, -1/+6No, OS b is much better. Clearly you are just an OS aSS fanboy, stop trying to dis-credit OS b, you know it rules!
- Monkiest, on 07/23/2008, -2/+6Really? You should pay attention more often then. I've seen way worse fakes than that.
- Aitese, on 07/23/2008, -2/+6You "hate" a guy you've never met who makes consumer electronics?
- TheKeithD, on 07/23/2008, -2/+6And I'm an Apple Store.
- bbqsalad, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4You make the internet suck just a little bit more.
- wassim2k, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4Sorry, this comment was meant for another story. Sometimes I'll click on a story but the UI will be doing something and it will lead me to the story above or below it.
- GeneralFailure0, on 07/23/2008, -1/+5The compression is probably because the picture was saved as a jpeg to lower the file size.
- bearcat8543, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3their*
- Lewiji, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3I'm pretty sure the sign in the window has a pair of iPod earphones in it. Also, the "frame" of the building is made from the same brushed steel as the actual store. I'd guess it's a corporate building, or a theater for workshops.
- AdmiralAcbar, on 07/23/2008, -1/+4Actually, since it's cut off, you can't really tell...
- MacParrot, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3"You're" crappy english "righting" skillz FTL.
- peaceninja, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3Billboard Bob?
- swraman, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2He's being dugg down because you CANT tell if it is photoshopped or not, the image isnt high enough resolution to tell anything from zooming in.
- StandardsDT, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2And where's the proof that it crashed? The title is not implying that XP crashed, it is being used in the sense of let's say for example crashing a party. Now just because you see the Windows XP loading screen doesn't mean it crashed. For all's we know it could have been rebooted due to updates.
- digitalpencil, on 07/23/2008, -1/+3considering apple won't have set this up.. it will be XP, all led advertising companies use XP.
- xtraa, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2BSOD or it didn't happen
- sanosuke001, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2That isn't anything crashing. It's booting up. For all you know, the power went out or they installed something new. Hell, it could be when they installed the ***** screen itself.
does anyone actually open articles before digging them? Or is it, "omg bash MS! /click /click /click" - mrmayor92, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2i second this
- legendxx, on 07/23/2008, -10/+12I bet you used gimp.. notice the ***** quality.
- bbqsalad, on 07/23/2008, -1/+3?
- visceroth, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2More like proof that people use overpowered devices to accomplish things...Why do you need a whole OS to run a freaking display?
- dnields, on 07/23/2008, -1/+3Why yes, douchebag, I did read the article.
Sounds like you should take your own advice:
I said in my comment:
"The iPod & iTunes ad from the other shot is probably just Apple buying ad-space on a huge screen that happens to be next to their actual store."
So, yeah.... read before you comment, asshat. kthnkbye. - insanewriters, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2Apple doesn't construct its own buildings, so if the company requested a huge ass digital billboard, the builder will install whatever is available (and cheap). And this is assuming this wasn't image manipulation. No, I can't bring myself to use Photoshop as a verb. I never hear anybody say "I PHPed the ***** out of that web app!"
