- Zippo, on 12/03/2008, -0/+28Looks like BMW should have sued too for copying the Mini logo.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Mini-logo.jpg - pumpedvideo, on 12/03/2008, -1/+16China's copyright law - non existence
- havek23, on 12/03/2008, -0/+13Yeah I would sue them just because they've obviously never heard of a graphic designer haha
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+91. Steal Apple and Mini Cooper logo
2. ?????
3. Profit!!! - albyliontk, on 12/03/2008, -2/+10 I just saw the logo in the above link. What to say: apart from a bad design it is also a bad idea to create something between an apple logo and an air-force one. It looks horrible and old fashion. Maybe this is one of the reason Apple suited Chinese trademark, no wonder
- aimhelix, on 12/03/2008, -1/+7Apple aviator? That logo is retarded.
- notoneofus, on 12/03/2008, -0/+5You're probably fine if you don't make it look like a trademarked Apple apple.
- shanesype, on 12/03/2008, -2/+6how do company's think they will get away with this
- 1smartguy, on 12/03/2008, -1/+5Because it's China, the country that rips off everyone. Here are some examples of their car design rip offs: http://damncoolpics.blogspot.com/2008/01/chinese-c ...
- cadmiumpaint, on 12/03/2008, -1/+5yeah anyone who puts one of the most iconographic logos of all time inside of free vector clip art and calls it an Identity should get sued to hell and back.
- LastDitchHero, on 12/03/2008, -4/+7Can the Chinese companies do ANYTHING original????
- dizavin, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3no, this is the U.S. trying to enforce their copyright ideology on products they ***** designed themselves.
also, let me know when you make something yourself cause I'm going to steal it, change one tiny thing and then put it back on the market and undercut you with your own damn product.
cause, you know, you seem okay with the idea. - notoneofus, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3Trademark, not copyright. And China does have laws about this sort of thing, they just aren't enforced regularly.
Also, it's partly a question of attitude. I spent time chatting with people in a DVD copying shop in Beijing where they were scanning legit DVD covers, Photoshopping a change or two into them, then printing them to sell. I asked why they didn't just photocopy the original cover. I was told that was illegal, but this way they were changing something, and therefore it wasn't the same product.
Um... - EggAndMuffin, on 12/03/2008, -2/+4You know who dislikes Chinese people ripping off other people's work more than anyone?
a Chinese like me :( - vanguardanon, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2It kind of reminds me of the time Cisco took out Huawei for stealing their stuff. It was so similar they actually shipped Cisco's documentation and manuals with their routers (although they couldn't support or maintain the software.)

Stealing American innovation is not good for global economics. I wish the penalties were harsher. - Soleanthia, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2"their" logo........
- dizavin, on 12/03/2008, -1/+3seriously, what the *****?
China is absolutely the worst for this kind of thing. I work with a guy from china and he's always telling me stories of how the culture over there is about scamming the most you can with exerting the absolute least amount of effort possible. and not like over here in north america or in some parts of western europe where you employ tools and technology to make your work easier, I'm talking about shamelessly ripping off someone else's work and undercutting them with their own damn products, because stealing it is cheaper than developing it.
I say we create a North American Union of Nations and States and beat them at their own damn game. maybe then they'll be forced to develop an economy and brands of their own, for once. - skeletorcares, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Apple's computers are made in china to begin with so, tons of chinese stuff already has apple logos on it.
- dizavin, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2no, it means your logo can't have someone else's logo in it. and that's been a law for, oh, since the beginning of time.
if you want to have an image of *A* apple in your logo? go nuts, it's a fee world. but if you want to have an image of *Apple, Inc's* apple image? no dice.
that's like me saying "hey guys! check it out, I made this crazy company that sells car accessories check out my awesome and original logo!" and the logo is simply the BMW badge with a set of wings on it. - inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2HAHAHAHA
Like the Chinese care?????
Wait for Apple stamps on everything Chinese now. - Zippo, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2*companies
- jcmia1, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1So the Chinese company just asked the secretary to come up with a company logo? hahahaha...the logo is too thoughtless...the apple logo inside wasn't even center-positioned. Come on.
- Branchex, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Did anyone else find it weird that Apple loses exclusivity to it's trademark in China in 2013. So by then anyone can use their logo in that country?
- skeletorcares, on 12/03/2008, -1/+2Apple has a ravenous legal team?
Facts hurt apples image. Stop posting stories like this. you upset the fanboys. - inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1http://damncoolpics.blogspot.com/2007/05/more-chin ...
That one is more like it. KLG Chicken, the Polystation, Panosaonic speakers, Odidos, Didasa, and Nire clothes, etc. - notoneofus, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Sure, that happens. But, actually, some of those pictured are the result of joint ventures or licensed cars. Many foreign companies have sold designs to Chinese companies (including Audi, Toyota, Honda, Isuzu, etc.). Most are now actively selling their cars under their main names in China as well.
The Geely Merrie and the Chery QQ are notorious rip-offs, but the Opel/Vauxhall, for example, is originally an Isuzu Rodeo (licensed to be built as the Honda Passport, the Opel, Vauxhall, AND the Landwind). - MacParrot, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1While I think it's a bit silly myself, I suppose an argument can be made of dillution of brand or somesuch. OTOH the apple in the logo has the exact same bite and leaf is facing the exact same way as Apple's logo.
- GeorgiaZ, on 12/03/2008, -1/+2what's the meaning of that?
- MacParrot, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Wouldn't yacinebouatrous actually have to HAVE an original idea or thought first?
- Spuy767, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Yeah, just another example of Apple using it's legal muscle to strangle small businesses trying to offer consumers quality products.
/s - ncc74656m, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Based on the pictures posted above of the infringing logo, I think it's a bit unfair in the judgement. At most, they should stop them from using it, but I don't see how there's any loss here on behalf of Apple.
The apple in the center looks very close to the Apple logo, so no arguments there, but taken as a whole, I mean, c'mon, they're Chinese, but they ain't stupid. People CAN tell the two apart. - nicemen, on 12/04/2008, -0/+0Apple is a worldwide business.

- spectxim, on 12/03/2008, -1/+1If we were to beat them at their own game, we'd need to copy them...and they don't exactly have anything -worth- copying...
- spectxim, on 12/03/2008, -1/+1You know we could easily fix issues like this and issues in the future by simply donating all the horrid money hungry copyright people we have in the USA.
- johnny81, on 02/17/2009, -0/+0apple is strong
http://www.linkbuilderz.com/linkuilding/ - rohan4apple, on 12/04/2008, -0/+0Yes! Apple is going strong!
- dizavin, on 12/03/2008, -1/+1naw, not copying the knockoff stuff they peddle, but manufacturing our own stuff in North America. (I'm sure we could get an applicable quality and price if we were to deal with Mexico instead of China) and got really aggressive with our copyright enforcement.
- yacinebouatrous, on 12/03/2008, -1/+0don't get all worked up, it's not just the U.S, i just find the whole idea of suing third world countries companies ridiculous, people there are poor, and it's not like it's gonna affect the image of a specific product. obviously the majority of Chinese can't afford a macbook pro for example, does that mean it's bad for Apple if they buy shoes with the apple logo printed on them. come on!
you guys don't realise one thing: example: in africa people use fake video games, or download movies via torrents, the companies complain all the time, do you think they can afford originals? NO, it's not gonna affect any wallets, if you ban it they're not gonna stop eating for a year just to buy a game.
at least when they're playing games or watching movies, they learn something, they're not outdoor playing with Ak 47s instead they get educated.
My point is that there's no reason suing someone if it doesn't affect you at all, Steve Jobs just wanted more cash, like he doesn't have enough, i heard suing each other is a popular hobby over there but in other countries people just don't enjoy it. - abgemma, on 12/03/2008, -1/+0This winning will not stop the copying logo design in China. I am sure pretty soon someone else in China will come up another logo very similar to Apple...... It does not stop here......
- cooliehawk, on 12/03/2008, -2/+1Apple goatse!
- kelly, on 12/03/2008, -3/+1Ya, retarded
- andyb747, on 12/03/2008, -4/+1the Chinese love to copy *****
v., ***** also shat (shăt) -everything - yacinebouatrous, on 12/03/2008, -6/+2again U.S trying to implemant their copyright ideology abroad! how surprising is that?
- Incman, on 12/03/2008, -9/+5An Apple a day, keeps the Chinese away..
- ftx437, on 12/03/2008, -6/+1May be retarded but does this just mean now no one can use a picture of an apple in there logo?
