- Mystikal, on 03/11/2009, -4/+29**** CENSORSHIP.
- djdingo, on 03/12/2009, -0/+9Before I logged into Digg, this is what I saw...
"*****, piss, *****, *****, *****, *****, *****, fart, turd, *****" - Sife, on 03/12/2009, -1/+8Name one faster method of getting breaking news out to a large group of individuals on either a computer or a phone.
- inactive, on 03/12/2009, -1/+7Cuss words are words that someone else has convinced you are "bad".
The same crowd that need their thoughts emailed to them - shoppingkart, on 03/12/2009, -6/+12*****, piss, *****, *****, *****, *****, *****, fart, turd, *****
- inactive, on 03/12/2009, -0/+6***** Y**h!
- inactive, on 03/12/2009, -2/+8Twitter doesn't make this iPhone app.
And Apple would crush them. - Harboggles, on 03/11/2009, -7/+12Awesome, now I can twitter dirty messages. Oh wait...I have no followers..
because twitter is useless. - zboyet, on 03/12/2009, -0/+5Do you use Apple products with that mouth?
- korbandallas, on 03/12/2009, -1/+6what? george carlin!
- jjb123, on 03/12/2009, -2/+7Carrier pigeon.
- immatellyouwhat, on 03/12/2009, -0/+5marketing scam...there I said it.
- phoomp, on 03/12/2009, -0/+3of course, if people hadn't gotten up in arms and pissed off, Apple may never have realized the goof they made.
- timusca, on 03/11/2009, -1/+3They really ought to just allow everything in and put ratings on the apps like console games. Come to think of it, why aren't they required to put ratings on their games? Or do they already have them and I'm just too lazy to see that?
- inactive, on 03/12/2009, -1/+3RSS.
- MrViklund, on 03/12/2009, -0/+2Time for Apple to declare some clear rules I think. This is just stupid. What the heck are then doing? Is it just a bunch of interns sitting there rejecting apps they don't like? I love Apple, and iPhone, but this has to stop.
- judicar, on 03/12/2009, -0/+2And of course CNet censors the offending word in their very own article ...
- Khast, on 03/12/2009, -2/+4[this message was removed at the request by Apple for use of #&$! and #*!@ ]
- mohrt, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1just mark stuff as EXPLICIT.
- ConfusedCartman, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1Why not make an "adult" category and make it that much easier? They could still restrict pornography and violence, but there's definitely a market for things like South Park clips. Who are they trying to protect by restricting this content in the first place?
- AndrewWiggin, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1What a stupid title to this story. It's not like Apple has decided to allow dirty words at all, let alone "flow". It's just that they aren't being ridiculous about uncontrollable user content anymore.
- andy101, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1Relax, caps lock, the world isn't out to get you. If you think that some private company is somehow "censoring" you by not letting you download an application on their device, I don't know what to say.
Instead of trying to be Che Guevara and screaming for freedom from enslavement, just... don't buy an iPhone if it bothers you so much. - sonofabiscuit, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1Whew! For a second there I thought Apple was turning into Nintendo.
- zboyet, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1I think I may be interested if you were to wright a book.
- uptown, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1thanks ... just wanted to make sure.
- immatellyouwhat, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1you're doing it wrong
- Allstarn08, on 03/12/2009, -2/+2If those people don't know the news already, they don't give a *****.
- immatellyouwhat, on 03/12/2009, -2/+2I'm pleased as punch to have tweetie back you *****.
- bradysdaman, on 03/12/2009, -3/+3I understand that Twitter doesn't make the application, the attack isn't on the application though, its on the actual site users using bad language.
- rushco1988, on 03/12/2009, -1/+1Huh? I don't understand stars.
- ThinkBox, on 03/12/2009, -4/+4I upgraded to tweetie 1.3 yesterday... The day the story broke out on Digg.
DIgg is slow. - Sife, on 03/12/2009, -1/+1Some do, yes.
- zboyet, on 03/12/2009, -1/+1Someone higher up read the news story and had to kick the ass of a cog in the wheel that was told to not approve anything with bad words in it.
- Sife, on 03/12/2009, -2/+2Danikar,
It's still not possible to read emails on a lot of phones, and it's much quicker and easier to read your Twitter feed and see, in so many words, what's important to the people/news agencies/blogs you follow. It's also much quicker to update a status on Twitter than to pick and choose who you send a mass email to.
jjb123,
*****. - CraigReed, on 03/11/2009, -8/+8"This could have been just a goof on Apple's part," Brichter told my colleague Dong Ngo earlier Tuesday. "The App Store is still very young, they're working out the kinks."
It's just like I said in the other articles comment section, all these people getting up and arms and pissed off over nothing.
There's too much of a knee jerk reaction to anything Apple. - stevethepocket, on 03/13/2009, -0/+0I was gonna say that what's really stupid here is the people who'd actually pay money for an app that does the same thing as a website they can access for free on the same device. But then I remembered that the ability to update via a cell phone (including a traditional one, via text messaging) was one of the site's big (read: only) appeals in the first place, and the main (again, read: only) reasons they ever cared about a blog site with a tiny character limit.
Carry on then. - uptown, on 03/12/2009, -3/+2Can anyone say marketing scam?
- inactive, on 03/12/2009, -3/+2Its slowly emerging out of my anal orifice, it hurts so bad that tears runs down my winced face. With every centimeter, I feel the processed leftovers of a bad home cooked vegetarian meal that my girlfriends mom made. Oh the pain, the pain of it all as it scrapes along the insides of my red raw colon walls. Pressure is building as this fecal final exit has hit a road block and it wont be long before colostomy explosion will force me to run for the back door in order to sneak back to my car and go home.
I will end up spending the next hour on this cold ceramic hell in gonizing anal pain... *TAP* *TAP* *TAP*... "@Twitard Taking a ***** right now, brb." - Danikar, on 03/12/2009, -5/+4Email is just as fast and it actually goes to the people you need to read it. Not just the people who have nothing to do and read your twitter.
- mmittimm, on 03/12/2009, -5/+3Oh, *****. Apple's whole censorship policy is straight up retarded. It's got nothing to the company, it's the censorship that people are up in arms about.
- bradysdaman, on 03/11/2009, -12/+7Only because apple doesn't want to fight a lawsuit it might lose. Twitter is a large up and coming company and Apple doesn't wish to get sued for censoring Twitter users. It's also just a bad PR move.
- FrederikNS, on 03/12/2009, -9/+2Blink 182? Please, God no!
