- zavats, on 07/10/2008, -1/+64Apple has 100% of iPhone market !
- orelses, on 07/10/2008, -2/+43How is this news? "Touch Phone" Market? Duh. Its like saying Cisco is 80% of the router / switching market. P.S. Click The Smile Train ad in the corner.
- darkened, on 07/10/2008, -0/+34There's an US Touch Phone market?
- StormCommander, on 07/10/2008, -1/+19Buried as Lame. We're talking only TOUCH phones here....
- meruru, on 07/10/2008, -1/+13Hell I thought it would be more. With all the hype/spam we get all Digg about the iPhone you would think it owns 99% of the "touch phone" market. It only has an 8% lead over 2nd place.
- gavroche, on 07/10/2008, -0/+9Cisco iPhone?
http://www.linksys.com/iphone/ - energyblue, on 07/10/2008, -0/+8I didn't think there was that many (good) touch screen phones.
- dadro, on 07/10/2008, -0/+7... in other news Blackberry has 100% of the phones with roller ball and qwerty keyboard market.
- Loopholes, on 07/10/2008, -3/+10The "Touch Phone" market is the iPhone, and the foreign iPhone knockoffs, which will apparently hold 65% of the Touch Phone market soon.
- thwoom, on 07/10/2008, -1/+6whats an iphone?
- petebot, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5Wait--Is there a new iPhone coming out?
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4apple has a 100% market share of smug.
- Elranzer, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4In other news, Wii expected to capture 100% of the motion-controlled console market.
- BrendanSheehan, on 07/10/2008, -4/+7I would have though they'd have more like 90% of the touch phone market, cause all other touch phone suck on in the UI dept.
- zmigliozzi, on 07/10/2008, -1/+4only 35%? Pretty sad when no one else is known for their touch phone's.
- cejones, on 07/10/2008, -4/+7Apple has 100% of all keyboard-less smart phones!!! Let's write a pointless article about it!!! Oh, and write a market review to sell for $1000 to idiots.
- duckyinc, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3Hype on digg =! Hype in real world
- mickstephenson, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3an? really?
- serif69, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2There's anus touch phone market?
- werries, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2yes.
- drunkturkey, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Are the Palm/Treo devices considered "touch devices" because you can interact with the screen? Or does this have to be 100% non-stylus interaction?
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2I thought the Instinct was also keyboard-less?
- Pic0, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2no dumbass, phones with touchscreens have been out for a few years. apple never makes new things
- trollick, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2And almost 100% of US iPhone market.
- thwoom, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2apple wasnt the first company to make a phone with a touchscreen.
- Elranzer, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2On that note, it's kinda sad the iPhone only accounts for 35% of the market it helped popularize. I wonder if this market includes touch-PDA phones like Treo, Centro and Windows Mobile... or just full-face touch phones like iPhone and iPhone copycats from Samsung.
- Pic0, on 07/10/2008, -3/+4that is a very ignorant statement
- pigletj, on 07/10/2008, -1/+235% of the touch tone phone market?! Oh. Touch phone. Guess I'm old.
- jugglingjon, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1This is article is stupid. Not only does it cite a worthless statistic (35% of a market they created?), but it's written by a marginally literate person. "Apple should already the clear market leader in the US for touchscreen phones by the end of the year"? That's the first sentence.
Spend less time trying to find good headlines for Apple, and more time proofreading. - SteaminTmann, on 07/10/2008, -2/+3As much hype as the existing iPhone has gotten, and how great the sales are, I still don't see that many of them around. One of my coworkers has one and a couple of my friends. I live in a fairly affluent and populated area (Long Island) as well. Even when out and about they're not so common. Maybe the new price tag will have some influence over more sales, but we'll see. Other than that, this is all just speculation.
- Commodus, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1They count - they're just not touch-exclusive.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -1/+2you know the iphone is made in china right? so by "foreign" do you mean not made in china?
- orelses, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1I would like a jacket that can cover my head as well. You mean a hood? No, that sounds too dark.
- swraman, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Yea I thought it would be more around the 80% mark.
All I know is Im getting a LV VX10000 or a samsung Glyde for my next phone, so I guess thats another -1 for iPhone in this "touch phone market" - inactive, on 07/10/2008, -1/+2i like gala apples
- tnoy, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1What will be the headline next week? Apple's iPhone 3G outsold all other phones available with an AT&T contract on July 11th, 2008.
- gavroche, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1That's silly
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Um Apple was the LAST group to have touch phones.
MS has most of that market with symbios taking up the rest. - winmywii, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1There are some other touch phones. I think the new BlackBerry may challenge apple, but the current BB users will want the Bold.
- jo21, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1while nokia got 73% of the whole world smartphone market, 40%+ the whole market.
right.
by the way they are not counting sony ericsson sales of the p-series.
or samsung onmia and lg viewty.
especially the lg viewty that being outselling the iphone. - ZenMojo, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Welcome to Digg.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1And have you had friends that have an iphone? It locks up as well on certain things. And for some reasons forgets mail settings. And have fun getting used to doing simple things like copy and paste.
If you are complaining about buttons, you are in luck, the iphone HAS NONE.
If you are a real fan of technology and what a REAL unlocked phone can do, wait for the HTC touch pro (with keyboard).
Plus I can take an iphone to workout and wear a wireless bluetooth device - no stereo bluetooth! - Nemesisesq, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1you mean they don't have 100%? Not terribly impressive when there's only like 4 touch phones out there period.
- Commodus, on 07/10/2008, -1/+1So that'll be never, then. Sorry, but touchscreen phones are becoming more common, not less, and not without reason.
- Rudegar, on 07/10/2008, -0/+0considering how many people seem to get killed or beaten up so people can get their normal ipods they maybe hidden in a little more personal and lot! more private place :P
- doctordbx, on 07/11/2008, -0/+0I love that roller ball. But Motorola make a phone with a qwerty keyboard.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -0/+0For having such a small share of the phone market, there WAY too many iPhone articles on Digg. I can see this when the original iPhone was released last year, but this is just an upgrade.
