- codyman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12yeah and so does sex
are you freaking nuts? - chewy5000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9thats classic
- Brahma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Oh..I thought they might be starting their ad campaign for iPhone on TV..
- Gir53457, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8They gonna chuck a hammer at a cell phone?
- rcran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6No way!
/sarcasm - Refrag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You might want to look into the history of Apple and Super Bowl commercials and when Super Bowl commercials began to transcend mere advertising.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6The commercial was influenced by the book "Two Thousand- Seven" by George Orwell. The dystopic future and the Big Brother figure both stem from this novel.
- MrMacMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I call shenanigans! Do you know how many albums they have? How many re-releases? How many compilations? Heck there have been AT LEAST 2 albums published by The Beatles after Napster closed!
- StephenCIreland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3my god, this should be fun, remember the last time there was a superbowl ad, maybee everyone at a nokia shareholders meeting and somebody runs in and throws an iphone at the screen
- g0atbutt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Apple always has interesting super bowl ads. Lets hope these don't disappoint!
- elv1s77, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Go Bears!
- despisedIcon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4lolling in his grave
- Greyarea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3>Never mind that you will be able to get 128kbs music with DRM that allows

Or any machine running iTunes. Or any CD player after you've burned it to CD.
If you have to lie to make a point, you don't have a point. - MrMacMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you read about the iPhone for the last 5 or so years and the CNN article recently published. Apple themselves put out fake information on their products to get people off their trail. How are you supposed to get around falsely leaked info?
- reichg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2MY guess is a beatles ipod, since they will have the rights for beatles online for months why not make beatles ipod. It would be a huge sucess because maybe love the beatles (including jobs) and the songs are family friendly like U2 songs loaded on the u2 ipod and it would be very easy to market.
just my thoughts.... - dt40, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4It's a big deal because it is Apple! And iPod! And the Beatles!
Never mind that you will be able to get 128kbs music with DRM that allows playment only on Apple hardware, as opposed to the ~700kbs, non-DRM Beatles CDs playable on equipment from a variety of manufacturers that have been available for 20 years. - Broelke4, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4If they announce The Beatles catalog on iTunes with a commercial it ought to be set to Revolution.
- Broelke4, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4You suck too :D
- rcran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I appreciate that you would take the time out of your day to write that comment. You will wish you had that time back someday.
- forgiste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That would be Apple Corp. That's who they're talking about.
- waxdart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's a big deal because (if the rumors are true) it will be the long-awaited release of the REMASTERED Beatles catalog. Their albums are the most in dire need of a remastering session, as they haven't been touched since the original issues, around the birth of the CD format.
Even if it weren't, the Beatles debut on a _legal_ online music service is a big deal. - joel8x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2MrMacMan, that's exactly the point - I don't mind a little speculation, but these people are like the "World Weekly News" of the tech world.
- ronmexico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why would they promote the Beatles with a John Lennon song?
- Gir53457, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3You suck.
- Inverse24, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4It's a bit too early to campaign for the iPhone. They need to finalize the specs and software.
- SilverRocket, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It was used by Nike in the 80s.
- Greyarea, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3So you advocate stealing music do you?
Idiot. - cafzal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Please let it be...
- zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why is this such a big deal? I mean, I have been able to purchase Beatles music since the 60's...
- BigKitty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@refrag,
I've been wondering about that myself...
BTW, this is off the subject but there is something I should let you know about, since you commented on the topic earlier. Remember the Consumer Reports infant car seat article that you were concerned about? They just announced that the article was retracted. Sorry about that...
http://digg.com/world_news/RETRACTION_Consumer_Reports_pulls_negative_infant_car_seat_report
They will do new testing and announce results at a later date.
(blush - how embarrassing!!!) - Feej, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"I am drooling over an ad where they do the normal ipod ad silhouette to shots from HELP! and their other movies. Then set it to John Lennon's 'imagine'."
I "Imagine" that would be nausea inducing.....
Couldn't think of anything worse. - jtp51, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Let it be known that the real Super Bowl is the AFC Championship. The NFC is weak beyond belief, which is quite sad to say...
- modpancake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What we really need is another Apple/Pepsi free song bottlecap promotion like they ran in 2004 and 2005 (but not in 2006). In 2005, I racked up almost 400 free downloads... my friends drink a lot of pop.
- joel8x, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I'm so over most of these Mac rumor sites. They rarely get anything right these days, yet all come off like they are reporting actual news.
Seriously, if you want to see the most pathetic and whiny forms of Internet life, just read through some forum posts on macrumors. Its unbearable. - j01101010, on 10/12/2007, -10/+11wasnt their 1984 commercial originally run during the superbowl?
- iamexcite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Imagine" is a song about a utopian society with, among other things, "no posessions."
Putting that against a monolithic symbol of modern capitalism is an absolutely horrible idea. - kryp7onik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3So when is The Beatles branded iPod being released?
- obeythefist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can't imagine them releasing the remastered Beatles catalog without offering it in a lossless format. Bundling that with a new iPod would require them to increase the drive size. Since the future model for handheld devices from Apple was established at the Macworld Keynote, if this rumor is true, I foresee a 100gb phoneless iPhone iPod.
- Refrag, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow! You're good. How did you remember I commented on that story?
- flag564, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6BitTorrent should make an ad that airs right after this one showing a 10-year-old downloading the whole Beatles collection for free, live.
That would be hilarious. - dreampilot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1well duh - why would anything NOT related to Apple make it to the APPLE front page?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Why is this a big deal? Please explain.
If you wanted the Beatles albums you can go buy them on CD and easily transfer them to your Ipod.
What is this gonna do? OMFG the beatles, now ill buy that ipod because I couldnt use Itunes to get it for all these years! - schillid, on 01/21/2008, -0/+0YouTube now has a preview !
Click: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJrxU4V82AU - rcran, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I am drooling over an ad where they do the normal ipod ad silhouette to shots from HELP! and their other movies. Then set it to John Lennon's 'imagine'.
Does APPLE CORP own the rights to those movies?
If so, that would be absolutely beautiful. - ronmexico, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Not gonna happen my friend.
- longterm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The iPhone is just one of the new line of iPhone products Apple's going to be releasing. You can bet that, when the iPhone is released, they'll also release a wide-screen iPod at the same time, probably with a 100GB drive.
I was at MacWorld and saw all the Leopard demos; Apple's got some truly incredible software coming this spring. This is going to be an amazing year for Apple users.
It just occurred to me that there is no such thing as a "PC fanboy," because PC users don't like their computer, they tolerate them!
That oughtta stir up the fire quite nicely... let the slams begin! :D - aronoff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hippies.
- FRAGaLOT, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3big deal. I downloaded the entire Beatles collection back in the Napster days. And they all fit on a CD-R.
